Why chipmunkup voices? isnt this already transformative/reactive enough to not get hit with anything?

they changed the video around to avoid copy right / dmca stuff /flags
so the audio may sound off, video may be reversed/ etc

Its that why it constantly pauses/ cuts out. Can't listen to it. Too infuriating.

the youtube algorithm legit gave me a heart attack a couple of years ago. let me explain, when I'm awake and bored i like listening to creepy pastas or watching horror movies. I'm a huge horror fan but when I'm ready to go to sleep i like listening to soothing dream scape tunes like astral projection type tunes. one night i went to bed listening to sleep music on my pc from youtube, the sleep was going good then it turned into a straight night terror the likes i never had before in my life soi woke up about 5ish hours into my sleep with my chest having a pain i could only describe as if i hot shocked in the chest, it was hard to breath and my chest felt tight as hell like it had a refrigerator on it. it took me some time for all the symptoms and pain to subside, when it did i noticed for some random reason the play list of sleep music i fell asleep listening to switched creepy pastas, so you don't make the same mistake i made whatever you do don't fall asleep with youtube still playing because the stuff you fall asleep listening to may not be what you wake up listening to

So sounds like it’s the fault of you leaving RUclips on while sleeping, more than the algorithm that you already understood very well how it worked.

Sorry with the voice like that I can’t watch. What if you sped the video up instead, so then we could just half speed the vid? Would that get around DMCA issues?

  • @baddragonite

RUclips has basically been trying to have their cake and eat it too with 230
I think the earliest I remember people talking about it was around 2015-ish with Steven Crowder and the Quartering

This is old; for those who want the results: the supreme court declined to comment or rule on this back in may of last year, citing their was no significant evidence of saying whether or not its the machine or the user actively looking for it.

If the algorithm was neutral and suggested videos based on what someone has search for and subscribed to that would be fine.
But as soon as google starts shadow banning political voices or negeative news stories, while also promoting their morals, politics etc. they are acting as a publisher and should not be protected, and we all know they do it all the time. Its time we get a neutral place for free speech.
If google wants to not allow people they dont like to upload, fine, do that, at least its in the open.

    • @Dahstin5311
      @Dahstin5311 4 месяца назад

good point and just to add we can never really trust a provider with an ability to recommend/ suggest to be completely neutral unless there was accessible proof of it being so. That would take a history tracker specified for that itself and it (to me) seems almost impossible to do because of the amount of users, with and without profiles.

The law blows people away sometimes. Letter vs spirit.
    Letter wise. Just 2 words.
    ANY ACTION.
    or taking one from this.
    ANY.
Including.... ANYTHING, including the use of Algorithmic Content Moderation, it means if the moderation gets it wrong they are also not held legally accountable. If RUclips employed pink elephants to help with content moderation they still wouldn't be legally accountable for anything because of the word ANYTHING.
The law takes the dictionary definition of words into consideration right?
I've found the newspaper journalist argument flawed in logic. It would more be trying to hold news papers accountable for people that put personal ads in them, an encounter ends up in a murder and the newspaper getting held legally liable for it.
    Butterfly effect slippery slope.
"Good Samaritan Provision: Section 230(c)(2) protects platforms from liability for any actions taken in good faith to restrict access to or availability of material that the provider or users consider objectionable, whether or not such material is constitutionally protected." - Not illegal for platforms to censor things as they see fit.
At the same time, legally, no one has to moderate shit as it stands -
"No Legal Requirement to Moderate: Platforms are not legally required to moderate content to maintain their Section 230 protections. They can choose the level and type of moderation they wish to apply."
The law is fine; also for all the pragmatic reasons everyone with an ounce of foresight and logic in their head can see, ie it cannot be changed without major net negative repercussions. Some say "repeal" / "remove" 230. Ok then, with what? You need this shit to be pretty neutral to be effective and I hear no well thought out, proactive and long term ideas and from any of the critics.
It's these that are the points of contention -
    "Discussion on Moderation Policies
Transparency and Consistency: One of the major criticisms of platform moderation is the lack of transparency and consistency. Users often call for clearer guidelines and more predictable enforcement.
Debate on Scope: There is ongoing debate about the appropriate scope of moderation. Some argue for more stringent moderation to prevent harm, while others advocate for minimal intervention to maximize free speech."
Nothing will consistently change for one "side" or another. Source: the entirety of human history.
