      This video is misleading and incorrect. DNA doesn't tell you you're Puerto Rican unless you're Native American. Just like It doesn't say you're Canadian, American, Mexican, etc. unless you're Native American. It tells you where your family came from before coming to the Americas.
      There is no such thing as a DNA molecule that says "This person is from Puerto Rico".
      This video is a lie and you know it.

    In middle school, I saw this situation in reverse. This girl thought that she was a little Puerto Rican her whole life because of her grandfather only to find out her Grandmother had remarried and had a PR husband after kids were born. She was all white, but because she had that 1/4 percentage she would act super extra and say it was because she was Boricua. Meanwhile, both of my parents are Puerto Rican and I'm just quietly rolling my eyes.

But don't perpetuate stereotypes and go off the rails and be like " I'm loud and obnoxious because I'm 1/4th Boricua, it's in my nature". They can't handle this because I'm Latina. Well no..maybe you just suck and you're being too much on your own, and you are just putting it out there what you THINK it means without growing up in it.

      ***** no the first person to bring salsa to the US was hector lavo n the 1970's n it was started n puerto rico but bought here havent you ever seem the movie El cantante n you must not live n NEW York because Puerto Ricans are the most dominate with Dominicans on the east coast also we make n sing most of the Salsa that everyone listens to n we have salsa songs especially made about puerto rico the first salsa bands were NuyoRicans that includes Hector lavo,Willie colon,Eddie palmieri,and others n i have no idea where you got the 1940's from but the East coast knows when n who started salsa try going Puerto Rican music we make mostly everything main stream as far as Reggaeton and Salsa and Batcata and merengue with Dominicans there really was no mixture of latinos n New york but Puerto Ricans n Dominicans 😉... +Rican antonio I have lived in New York lol, I was born there. And I never denied that New York Latinos are predominantly PR & Dominican. But salsa didn't come from those countries. It rose to popularity in the 1970's yes, but it originated long before that. And yes, Hector Lavoe is accredited for making it popular but he didn't create it. It's been around long before that. I had to do a report on the origins of Salsa for my music appreciation class so I know what I'm talking about. If anything, the Cubans of New York have had the most influence over the music genre but modern day Salsa has a bit of Merengue, Cumbia, and Mambo mixed into it, which comes from every Latin American country.

      ***** dude i kno my own history lol it started n New york with mainly Puerto rican n Cubans but more or so Puerto ricans n after that other countrys like columbia got ahold of it (((heres the history of Salsa music is a general term referring to a genre that is based largely on Cuban, Puerto Rican popular dance music. It initially arose in New York City during the 1970s. Salsa is the product of various musical genres including the Cuban son montuno, guaracha, mambo, and to a certain extentbolero, and the Puerto Rican bomba andplena. Latin jazz, which was also developed in New York City, has had a significant influence on salsa arrangers, piano guajeos, and instrumental soloists.
      Salsa is primarily Cuban son, itself a fusion ofSpanish canción and guitar and Afro-Cuban percussion, merged with North American music styles such as jazz. Salsa also occasionally incorporates elements of rock,R&B, and funk.All of these non-Cuban elements are grafted onto the basic Cuban son montuno template when performed within the context of salsa.
      The first salsa bands were predominantly "Nuyorican" (New Yorkers of Puerto Rican descent) or Puerto Ricans who moved to New York. The music eventually spread throughout Colombia and the rest of the Americas. Ultimately, it became a global phenomenon. Some of the founding salsa artists were Johnny Pacheco (the creator of the Fania All-Stars), Ray Barretto, Willie Colón,Larry Harlow, Roberto Roena, Bobby Valentín,Eddie Palmieri, and Héctor Lavoe.
      I also kno what im speaking about im Puerto rican lol n have lived n a All Puerto rican community most of my life Salsa is like the holy grail for puerto ricans search RUclips for Puerto rican power music

Also Cubans and Pr are the best at salsa but Cubans have more dancing styles, Mambo, cha cha cha, casino, etc .

      The u.s. can certainly pull Puerto Rico out of any international competition if they deseired. I hate how a lot of Puerto Ricans run their mouths without having any understating of just how much power the u.s. has over the island. I'm a Puerto Rican that supports statehood,but I have way more respect for those boricuas who desire complete independence than those who think Puerto Rico is a country under the current status. "permissive rights are no substitute for constitutionally guaranteed rights." Pull your head out of your ass and vote for something that's concrete.

    No me gusto... Lo siento flama pero hacer que otras personas se sientan mal por su raza esta mal. Nosotros los Boricuas estamos muy orgullosos de lo que somos. Y ver este video me da lástima,nos otros no somos todo,Coño,tostones y bochinche. Somos una raza que lucha por resaltar nustra identidad colonizada. En adición a que nuestra raza como la mayoría de las razas latinas es una mezcla de tres razas y hasta más. Un examen de DNA no hubiese dicho eso. Este video fue de muy mal gusto. Esta cayendo en hacer estereotipos de los mismos latinos y eso se ve mal... Como se que entienden español pues ahí se los dejo...

    • @xm377Moyocoyatzin
      @xm377Moyocoyatzin 8 лет назад

      You don't seem to understand that a detailed "Hapmap" DNA test shows which REGION of the world you mostly descend from based on the ethnic groups that have historically inhabited said regions. For example: if your DNA reveals you have 90% of the genetic markers from a very specific Amerind group, indigenous to Mexico, then you can legitimately claim you're "genetically" Mexican (as a Mestizo who are not the historical Ethnic group endemic to Mexico). If you don't think a DNA test can reveal what your ethnic and national background is then consult with the FBI's Forensics Department. If you so much as leave a hair on a scene of a crime they will know what part of the world you descend from and what you probably look like. From that they can determine if you are black or white or Asian and if you are Latino they can discern which type of Latino: Puerto Rican, Mexican, Colombian, Brazilian, etc.

      Olivia Rosario I don't know why? I've lived in the US all my life and I know the difference between a banana and a plantain. That's stereotyping Puertoricans as Newyoricans which is not a nationality but a ghetto slang for Americans of Puertorican descent. Now that you are in Puerto Rico it's a good idea for you to learn your history and your culture. You'll be amazed at how trully beautiful it is and it will make you proud to say "I'm Puertorican".
