If you enjoyed this video I have uploaded a second compilation of car and truck commercials from the 1980's including a number of Mustang commercials. It's available here: ruclips.net/video/oa_qGd4HKE4/видео.html
The Toyota Camry corporate chime at 6:47 is the most heart-warming thing I've ever heard.
Chevy sprint??? I seriously thought that was gonna be a mustang commercial....hahaha
Ikr
well in the 80s, emissions choked down mustang hp to about the same
It's a contradiction for an econobox to dod a wheelie
70s pinto commercials were similar
Cars from the 80's to mid 90's were really great. Light weight, good handling, reliable, decent gas mileage. Simple to work on (OBD1). Power was pretty fair in many models too. I've got five Chevrolets. Two 1988's, a 92, 93 and 94. All of them are v6 powered.
Lee Iacocca, what a legend in the car industry.
Yes! He was the man!
Imagine what he'd think about the Dodge Demon now.
God i love everything old! These were the best of the best
No they weren't, especially the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicles. They were junk and probably still are.
3:26 that turn was clean
That Toyota commercial at 7:23 was way ahead of its time. With the white walls and stuff. Looks like a modern chevy commercial.
ugh, the white gray interior design is awful these days, houses buisness, everywhere is uglified
Even the commercials are beautiful in the past
I had a Z24 in the same burgundy-silver combination - still brings a smile when I think back to those days.
I loved my '87 Z24 cpe. Wish i had it now. Great car to take 2 cruiseins/shows.
I'm working on restoring my 1990 Z24 right now! I love that car!
Who else misses that '80s music??? ~ 4:40
Me!
I miss all of the 80's. The best decade.
If only I knew what it was called
I wish they still made cars like in the 80's. Good quality and simple to work on. Today cars piss me off door lock door unlock,k security system lockout and all the computer junk they put on them . Keep it simple.
I had a Cavalier Z24. It was my favorite car of all time.
I NEED that Prelude and 4Runner!!!
Looks like u just need a 1 vw for u lmfao
I JUST LOVE THE CHEESINESS OF THESE ! Oh how I'd love to see the same level in today's cars' ads.
Good lord the cars were affordable back then, 7k 10k brand new and good.
Now for 20k you only get a shell with looooots f plastics
Wish I was around to see the 80s it looked like an awesome decade
Cyber Swiper Was there and trust me, they were a mixed bag of fun and everything else! Totally loved the ‘80’s, but wouldn’t want to do it over again!
We had pretty cool times and cars during the 80s. Times of the greatest movies and music. If you notice most music and movies are remakes of the 80s. We also had Reagan as President! 👍
As a Canadian and early twenties,it was the music and too much noise. I thank the Lord above I met my wife in/88. Great kids now in their twenties. Also miss the /90's country music then and my kids growing up. God bless you.
I miss the 80's it was better without the cell phones like today.I still have a bunch of cassette tapes from the 80's.
The 70's was way better. Better music and better cars (until the late 70's on the cars)
I love the hyundai commercial.
I used to have an 88 Nissan pulsar NX. I finally had to give her up at 225k miles. Poor thing rusted pretty bad by then. I loved that car.
My brother had one and let me use it for a 3 day weekend and I put over 1000 miles on it in a snow storm. He was pissed.... lol
The 80s and 90’s were awesome
The days when it was a huge selling point to provide an automatic transmission...
I came to the United States in 1986, initially as an exchange student. The entire year I rode in only 1 car that had a manual transmission. Everyone else drove automatic. I got my driver's license over here, but I had to go back to Germany over the following summer to learn to drive stick, in my dad's Peugeot 405.
I miss all these cars.
Ah...back when car ads were about...well, the cars. Most modern car ads only advertise the _infotainment systems,_ since that's what most people only care about now. The car itself could just be a white, bland cardboard box; as long as it has a 60+ inch screen in the middle of the dashboard, they're completely OK with it. lol
Gotta like the Z24 commercial.
My gosh they are so nice to drive.
Maybe it's just me, but what happened to ads like these?! Today they just say an inspiration quote about a car, that barley even relates, over some orchestra music that doesn't explain anything new or cool about the car at all. Also, four wheel steering needs to happen.
different generation of people who make the advertisements... ads used to be simple and explained what the product did.. in a simple, mature way.. today it's either overly dramatic and over the top or it's treated as a comedy skit that's completely random and makes no sense, absurd and meant to make you laugh...
Not all of them, try look up the kia Vs Lamborghini ads
4 wheel steering is expensive and basically more things to break
4 wheel starring happened on some more cars besides Honda even Ford had it for some time but it was just a money pit
@PHOENIX RISING Audi and BMW too.
Nice upload I love the 80's
When they talk about quality, they weren't kidding. In the 80s, vehicles were built better, and lasted longer. Today, cars are made with plastic and cheap foreighn parts that brake easiely. Today, vehicles have way to many recalls unlike back in the 80s, that would be very seldom to hear of any vehicle recalls. The 80s were the good ol' days
TheRam are you kidding? most 80's cars were mostly pieces of shit and were designed to last 5 years. this is coming from a guy who got his licence in 1988. the only reliable cars back then were honda's and which are still reliable and can go 2 decades, as do buicks, subarus, mazdas, nissans and many other car companies.
Brings back memories! Thanks for posting
I wonder how many of those Toyotas in the commercials are still running today? We had a 1989 Camry for over 300K miles and the Lil Mexican I sold it to still drives it around. I saw her the other day in a Sears parking lot
Really it's not uncommon for that my aunt had 92 Camry that was sold in 99 still on the road.
I believe it thats a Toyota
That Hyundai Excel commercial has a LOT of truth to it. lol.
Out of all these cars Camry is still the best
BOY THAT BRINGS MANY MEMORIES BACK!! DEW SUM VW COMMERCIALS!!
I remember that Hyundai commercial very well.
My grandmother bought an `87 Dodge Aeries K car, brand new when she was in her early 80s. She didn't drive that much, but later it got used and abused by other family members. I don't know whatever happened to it.
Giving me flashbacks of the 80s
Those were the days. I had a 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier & I liked the looks of the Toyota Camry at that time. Now days can't even get a good deal on new cars that were left over from previous year with the current year cars on lot. I tried to buy a new Lincoln Continental from 2018 a few months ago & the dealer wouldn't even budge on it to sell the last one from 2018 model year plus the so called incentives suck than used to or least where I live. I have a 2006 Lincoln Town Car for 4 years & the dealer didn't have a loyalty program for trading one Lincoln for another but least my car is paid for finally. Love the video.
Love the music. It's so cozy.
@6:45 the dog 🐕 in the commercial already passed away long time ago and this is why Im sad now.
1p4142136 OMG, and I thought I was the only one that thought about the dogs from decades-old car and truck ads that have long since passed away.
We will always be here for you. !
The Prelude si was truly a car ahead of it's time. It was the the NSX before the NSX.
When u feel broke because of ur car just make ur self feel like it's the 1980s and watch the commercial
I wish manufacturers would bring back this eras car design as well as the 50s
Fred Gwynn was the voice of the first commercial
No charge ac lol
3:50 RIP Lee Iacocca
love it
The ad for the Nissan Pulsar NX is by far the best.
Dude I like the 80s cars 🚗 and I have one
K car 😂 😂
Door handles always broke- exhaust manifold cracked- 😂 😂
@4:01 "Eagle, European styling " WTF, looks like a yank tank to me
Dude when he said that I laughed, that thing looked like someone sculpted a turd
First car I owned was a 91 eagle vision, piece of shit
Its actually a reworked Renault. It was designed by AMC and Renault. AMC went bankrupt and was bought out by Chrysler before it made it to production.
It’s a Renault designed by Giugaro
Dash Riprock
Ignore the Renault 5 Turbo, of course.
I like turbocharged K cars!
I feel like car companies have given up on ingenuity and coolness, cars used to have style and personality. Pretty much all sedans, trucks and suvs all look the same and noone even really cares what they drive anymore.
Well it's good not many people care about the style the design so the world has changed people change
Built for the most important race, THE HUMAN RACE. Lmao what an ad
those K cars were a piece of work
Some ads were aired on Canadian TVs with some marketing gimmicks that wouldn't be allowed in the US based on FCC rules.
What kind of gimmicks? I'm curious
2021 and I miss the 80's
@ 3:41...One thing we know for sure...we filmed this on the Death Star
It would be funny if Han Solo ran into him and knocked him over during that scene where they are running down a corridor from stormtroopers
Never knew that's how you pronounce Nissan...LMFAO!!
Love 1980s cars. Was class of 1980
0:05 Fred Gwynne on the voice-over for Hyundai. Another actor, Edward Hermann, also voiced spots for Hyundai.
Toyota is amazing. That honda prelude too. 80s and first Middle 90s cars are great.
nice video
I am not 64 and live in the UK and have in the past owned many 60s and 70s American cars, many of the muscle cars, mustangs, camaros, Cougars but then came the 80s models and they all went bad
I grew up with hondas. Back then they used to look better than the new ones!
Am I the only one obsessed with old video quality!?
1:55 My god Chevy lol
Anybody else watching this in 2020, sitting in the tub in their underwear and a football helmet, eating cheetos?
“No charge a/c” 😂
The man I fell in love with and am still married to him to this day, had a Toyota 4 runner when we first met, his was black and it had the sport package, we would take that think off the road in the hills of Tennessee and that thing never once left us stuck, of course Dylan knew how to drive off road but his 4runner never once got stuck.
I had a cavalier Z28 5 speed it was a fun little car it's too bad GM didnt keep them in production
Johnny G i had one too and loved it. They made them like 12 years or so & they eventually evolved into the Cobalt SS basically
sad the 1985 chevy astro commercial isn’t in this
Incrível que os modelos de comercial da Chevrolet no Brasil, Opel na Alemanha e Vauxhall na Inglaterra eram parecidos.
0:51 a 1:51 GM Parts
3:05 so satisfying lol
Whatever happened to four-wheel steering? It makes sense, why didn't it work? Was it unreliable? Expensive?
I believe it is still in use in some vehicles that Nissan produces like the Skyline. It is known as HICAS though.
BloomingOnion
The perceived benefit was less than the additional cost
BloomingOnion The beauty of Honda’s system was that it was ‘true’ active 4WS that you could actually see as well as experience
You could get 4 wheel steering in full sized Chevy and gmc trucks/SUV’sback in the mid 2000’s. The system reliable but cost made it unpopular.
BloomingOnion my 91 Mitsubishi had it as well as active Aero and dual mode electronic exhaust and 4wd.
So cars used to have actual advertisements?
This always remind me of them Hess 🚘 in the back round of the toy
And to think that there’s a waiting list for Toyota cars now
4runner!! ✌
Eagle was not a new car company. Its what Chrysler changed the name of AMC to when they bought it.
0:01 litreally reminds me of the corvet and bolide from beam ng
Never knew that eagle existed.
Back when you could buy a stripped down beater for cheap!
I have a 1980 Toyota Camry
Was that Herman Munster doing the Hyundai commercial?
1:27 I know that was the year back then, but god damn I can't help but to immediately think he's talking about the past.
I was hoping to see more big rwd's out of this. I don't think you can even find Eagle Premiers anymore.
In the second compilation I made you can see alot more RWD Trucks and a number of Mustang commercials from the mid 1980's available here: ruclips.net/video/oa_qGd4HKE4/видео.html
I did dealer prep on those Eagles. They came off the truck with very little oil in all of them. Not a bad car tho.
when AM FM Cassette is like Car play Android Auto today
@4:24 In this case Eagles didn't fly, at least with the public. Great commercials, thanks for posting
And Rest In Peace lee iacocca 1924-2019
5:02
🎵Toy-o-ta!🎵
The Chrysler advert at 2:10 is misleading, the K Cars (Aries/Reliant) were never built in Canada during that time, only the Caravan/Voyageur minivans.
0:16 why is there a stop light in the middle of the freakin desert?
because commercial.
80s 90s 00
sad to say.. all these cars are in junkyards and crushed by now... sad... sniff::::
Many of the cars used in commercials are preproduction or modified examples that rarely ever make it on the road or to an owner's driveway. But yes, most cars from the 1980s are long gone by now - those few that you do see are true survivors.
san379 Agreed, my favorite 80’s cars were the ‘80-‘83 Civic 4dr, ‘79-‘83 Colt, Fire Arrow, Plymouth Sapporo Technica, ‘82-‘83 200-SX coupe, ‘83 RX-7 X(10th anniv) edition/‘84-‘85 GSL-SE, ‘81 Celica GTA 10th anniv Special Edition coupe, ‘85 Accord SE-i, and a few others! And for team America, nothing says 80’s like GM’s A and G body cars, which were and are a true testament to time and still quite plentiful today!
san379 except jeeps. sought after wonderful jeeps. before fiat... i have 4 jeeps made on or before 2005
Except Toyota’s
except for the preludes and such
I like the 80s 🚗
That Chevy Sprint only has 10hp more than my 450 MX bike 😂🤘🏻🤷🏼♂️
I would've liked to drive that honda prelude
I'm sure it would be an experience for sure to try! Keep an eye out for another 80's Car Compilation coming up in the next few days (hopefully) I have almost enough clips!
That Pulsar looked pretty nice, too.
Who here wishes they could buy some of these classics brand new??? Also at that cost.
With the exception of the Jeeps, Honda’s and Toyota’s, which are becoming fewer and further between, one would be hard pressed to find great examples of most of these vehicles, if at all, in today’s automotive landscape!
Yep the tercel
