This is my favourite of all your guitars. A twist on a 70s tele deluxe
Love a tele deluxe
lame - old body - new neck and logo - fail.
Agreed, hadn't heard of Freidman before I saw it on this channel. Sounds so good every time he brings it out.
@@nonegiven9528 new pickups new control scheme new routing so a new body body carves
Same. Love this guitar. P90’s just rip
There are 3 guitars that I really strongly associate with you.
1. Les Paul '79
2. Agacia Cronus
3. That Friedman tele
For some reason whenever I think of you, those 3 immediately come to mind! Absolutely incredible instrument you have there!
Totally agree with you dude although I'd add that crackle charvel to the list as well :)
@@lknez13 Agreed. I was just trying to think of top 3 :D Charvel would be 4th.
I love P90’s I recently bought a macmull stinger which has double P90’s and it’s just such a nice guitar to play even if you’re not in the mood a few minutes with it and all’s good.
Rob - you have absolutely crushing chops man. Love your vids. Keep 'em coming!
This one is your best imo. Planning a white Jazzmaster build with those pickups because that thing sounds killer!
I've got one of these in the red finish. Absolute tone monster and worth every penny.
Every now and then I can to lose a little motivation and then you release a video and it fills up the motivation tank. Thank you.
What a beautify guitar, sounds great!
I usually don't like that classic sunburst color but I love it on that guitar. I bet that axe is super fun to play!
Everytime I see that guitar it reminds me of my 75 Tele Custom that was my dad's. Love that thing
That thing is absolutely savage. Love love love a good T-style guit fiddle
This guitar sounds really good, the relic on the back is awesome!
I have this guitar in black, it’s so worth it and sits right up there with my custom shop fenders and R8. Outstanding guitar! Oh and Robert made me buy it!!!
If you’re a pauper like me, try the P90 equipped Squier Tele custom 2
Love the P90's! They have become my favorite as well!
I just love P90’s. I built a Jazzmaster style guitar with P90’s & a 3-way switch, & it ROCKS!
I just found the tone I’ve been searching for. No Joke!
I like this guitar, personally. There used to be this guitar store in Cambridge, MA that I used to visit a lot in the early 90s. They basically had two rooms, front and back, that had quite a few used guitars on the walls. The back room had amps as well, and your Tele reminds me of some cool, rare find that would have been hanging back there waiting for some budding metalhead guitar nerd like me to find it and buy it.
Love your guitar reviews Rob. Dude, you are the best!
Man, those P90’s sound great. I have the Fender Chris Shiflett 72 Tele with Duncan Pearly Gates, but I really like the way that Friedman sounds.
Without watching yet, YES it was worth it! I've heard what you've said about that Friedman lol
Got one last year. P90s on mine too. It’s my #1 electric guitar now and everything Robert says is true. I love my neck pickup for what it’s worth, so I am a little at odds with Robert’s perspective on that.
Looks and sounds awesome!
A nice guitar. Tele custom with a twist. Great choice. See why its a favourite. Good review again on this one.
Hey ROBERT!
Food for thought, Can you do something to the pickguard and wiring to make it like your esquire but with a single p90 bridge. Keep the 3 way toggle where it is and do the 3 position thing the esquire does?
Would be rad!
Upvoting my own comment because I really think Robert Baker needs to consider this.
Yeah you see that a lot where people say that about relic'd guitars "i would never pay for a guitar that looks like it was dragged behind a truck". Personally i like the look. I think it looks cool. To each their own.
I have a Relic Vintage T w Humbuckers, def one of my favorite guitars as well.
Yep! Keep doing reviews, Robert. And relicked guitars are super-cool. They look like they have seen serious heavy-rock band live gig action.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the first of these that made it over to Europe.
Absolutely love it and same with me - there is something about it that just makes me want to grab it and play.
Stunning guitar imho.
Mine is alder / maple / H-H / slightly aged
:)
I love that guitar!
Knowing as soon as you grab it out of case its awesome is so true.My favorite guitar is a L.T.D I've had forever even though I have 2 E.S.P guitars that are both over 2 times the price of the LTD.Looks are a big thing when buying guitar but feel and sound are huge.
Demo the middle selector
I love, LOVE my P90 guitar! Mine has a similar sound to yours but mine is loaded with Jim Wagner pickups. It has so much attitude! I think you should keep that guitar the way it is and get a "sister guitar" from Friedman that's similar in looks BUT with a single P90 bridge setup. I love the sound of yours and that round neck. Have you hit that neck with a pinch of chorus and bit of slap-back yet?
If you were to remove the neck pickup and knobs, see how you like leaving the open holes in the pickguard. It might add to the beat up vibe of the guitar!
I'm all about that guitar! Don't ditch the neck pickup man haha it sounds so so smooooooth.
I think that is my third favorite of your guitars - behind the Charvel and the Kalamazoo LP.
Are you going to check out the ART SGX2000 next week?
If you get serious about removing the neck pickup and put on a new pickguard, I've got a suggestion. Get a pickguard made like a Thinline with the three-way selector and install an Esquire wiring harness (Eldred mod or vintage; your choice).
This guitar touched my heart.
is the axe fx patch you are using available?very nice tone!
I'd like to see you compare a Fender Strat and a G&L Legacy. I'm curious which one you would prefer and just to hear your in depth view on both.
Some guitars just have mojo in the places where your level of talent needs it. I've picked up guitars that to me, just play themselves. Those are real keepers!
Put a classic fender style single coil in place of the neck pickup. Just an idea. Cheers.
Always wanted something with double humbuckers
That's a perfect guitar.
KILLER ROCK GUITAR! 🎸🎸🎸 Love the Macho Man t-shirt 😀
I love Friedman guitars!!
Don’t you dare take that neck pickup out of that guitar, son! 🤓
*Clicks cancel on order for new pickgaurd
Would you consider this a Telecaster style? Certainly the body shape. It has P90s which are single coil but not typical Tele pickups. The bridge isn't an ashtray style.
Fender has made Telecasters with humbuckers and P90s for decades. Had a 1972 Custom in solid black (2 chrome humbuckers) that was a real rock n roll machine (back in the 80s).
The D is nice but the Essie my fave. Can't top spug love! Love relics because I am clumsy; I bash guitars only sometimes on purpose. Wonder if relics disturb the condition value fetish for collectors? That sound, A "T" is a must have. Great show, thanks.
Best guitars ever! Wish the necks were a little thinner.
Though I’m not honestly tempted by Friedman, this demo is ironically reinforcing my appetite for the Fender Modern Player Thinline Tele Deluxe.
Yeah I do love that combo. Its a shame Fender hasnt revisted the original " Black Dove " Telecaster Deluxe from back in I think 2012 they released it?
Name it ReeRee!
🎸🔥
Good stuff, Robert
Hahaha Reeeeeee
Robert, is that Friedman one of the prototypes made by Avi Shabat? Mine is. :) Check the number plate on the back.. and if you ever restring take off the neck and look... you'll see his signature and a date if it's one of the prototypes he made for Friedman. You should check out Avi's guitars. They are nothing short of amazing. There's a reason that guitar feels so good in your hands. He's an amazing builder...
How long have you been playing guitar ?
is it a problem that i cant decide what to play? cause i love my frankensteined firts guitar, my strat and my partstele.
Reminds me of the Jim Adkins teles minus the semi hollow body.
Yeah Rob, I think you need another guitar. A T-type with a bridge P90 and just a volume pot nothing else. Just a suggestion?
Im thinking about adding a baseplate to my strat bridge pickup, any tips/experience? i want it to have more oomph. its a bit too brittle.
What do you think on Gibson explorers?
I would love to have a Friedman, but the price to my current skill level is out of sync. Love that Vintage T with P90s. Wonder if the the best versatility is to get one with humbuckers and then throw something like the Phil PX-100 (P90 in humbucker housing by Arcane) in there. Then you could switch back and forth if desired. Regarding the relic, not sure how I feel, would like with or without. Looking at Friedman's order form, there is an "upcharge" for non-relic guitars, so guess the choice is made for you, LOL!
Bad ass guitar
Nice! And, totally worth it!
I watch your videos during classes:)
P90s are amazing.
As my knowledge and experience with guitars and within the guitar community grows I now know and I now believe and I even now "accept" certain things that I once did not. Two of these areas that I have grown in are 1) Single pickup guitars 2) Relic Guitars.
At one time I could not see the purpose in having a single pickup guitar. But now after getting used to my own single pickup guitar and understanding better how to use the tone control, I can see why a lot of people prefer a single pickup guitar. I think it's funny to see people go crazy for one of those 3 pickup Ace Frehley signature model Gibson Les Paul's. If you know anything about Ace at all you know that ALL of his Les Paul's that he played onstage with KISS and even during his solo career may have appeared to be two and three pickup models, in fact they were single pickups!! The only pickup he ever used or even had wired up was the bridge pickup. In a double model the neck pickup was where he would put the things needed for his smoking guitar routine, the pickup cover was actually fake. In the 3 pickup model again it was only the bridge that worked while the neck was for the smoke effect and the middle pickup was just installed but not wired up. So for all these years I was saying I did not like a single pickup guitar, the guitar player whose guitar made me fall in love with the Les Paul, always played a single pickup guitar lol.
Relic guitars just made no sense to me, I mean why pay a premium price for a guitar that was brand new but purposely made to look old and beaten up? But as time has gone on I kind of get it now, I still couldn't see myself ever paying a high dollar amount for a guitar that was a relic model, but get why it looks cool and it can make a person have a certain feel or attitude while playing it. Guitars such as the Frankenstrat model of EVH I can understand now why people would want one that was made to look like one of the most famous guitars in history and one that truly changed the entire genre of the rock guitar world. For the life of me though I don't think I will ever come to the point of accepting it when someone will go and buy a brand new Gibson Les Paul, pay $3,000 for it, then take it to a guy and drop another grand into it by having that guy beat the crap out of his new Les Paul lol. There is something to be said about having a nice shiny brand new guitar!! I am a member of a Gibson guitar group on Facebook and I see collections that other members have and some of their guitars date back 30+ years and yet they look almost brand new. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have yet to see a single Gibson guitar, an older one, that looks anything like these relic'ed guitars lol.
I like how the horn is kind of purple-ish.
Diggin it 👌
Don’t get rid of that neck pick up dudeeeeeee!!!
I really like p90s now that ive played a tele with them
Great vid bro at one point I was like babying my guitar from getting a nicked until some asked if they could hold it and smacked the neck on the wall I was like 👹 then I was like 🤯 now I can go nuts on it cause it's already nicked now anytime I buy a new guitar I don't baby it I don't mean throw it to the grind but if it gets humped a little 🤷
It's an output jack, not an input jack. 🤨😄
Oh and if you want to change it, get a fully loaded pick guard with the config you want, and keep the original one just in case you want to change back.
I've felt for a long time that this is THE best sounding guitar you own and if someone said ' you can have any one of Robert's guitars, but only one", I'd take this one without hesitation. (I know, I can't have it... : ( , oh well...)
Hey Rob, put one on your tab for me.
Brutal.
I gotta admit I occasionally foam at the mouth over that guitar!
The only guitar I am really gassing for now....
Is the jazz master going to be the next give away?
I want one.
I'm trying to get some P90s in the hands of our Sarasota friend. I don't want to flex, but I bugged you about P90s for a while. I think some hollow body really gives P90s something special.
I need a tele in my life
Hey rob
A member of a guitar builders group I’m in recently did an exact replica of your guitar ! It looks incredible . Would love to get a few photos of the replica tribute that was built so if you see this shoot me your email or something and I’ll shoot some photo of it too you
Looked up the Friedman guitars on Sweetwater. OMG! $3,000+ That's not gonna happen. I bought a like new used Peavey with two P90's a dozen years ago and it sounds a lot like your Friedman... for $150!
When are you going to talk about the jazz master again??
Next week :)
I don't think I've seen that Guitar before.
Fake or real wear? „Relic“ sounds like fake wear 🤣😂
I'm not a fan of relic but Friedman does it right. I don't like it but I do? Anyway...
Yes.
I’m getting a Stratocaster soon what you think about those guitars
lol you lazy bum. See his videos on strats
Can't stand the bridge pup
@@valebliz that's where the humbucker goes.
Try HSS or HSH pickups if you're into rock n roll. There are many Strats out there including the HM with 2 humbuckers.
I don't have any interest in relic'd guitars in regards to the looks. It makes me think of those stories about people winning huge money in the lottery, but the fact they've becoming wealthy without having to work for it ends up causing an guilt attached to it.
Relic'd also is a payoff without causing it yourself (like rebuilding a classic car to mint condition vs just buying one already mint). However tonally I really like them when compared to a brand new model. The lighter finish allows the wood to season and lose the moisture much faster, and getting that tone that comes from years of aging. They usually are really comfortable too.
I bought an Edwards Les Paul copy several years ago. Normally they have urethane finish, with the 'Lacquer taste' models have a couple coats of nitro on the top of the body. Because it's over an already painted guitar you're not going to get the qualities players like from nitro.
I bought an ALS, which is done completely in lacquer. Prior to buying it I didn't know they existed. I've had experience with the older "law-suit" era guitars that were done with nitro, and they all had very thick finish, especially some like Greco's, which is one of the highest qualities of the various brand. The ALS came in either relic'd or normal finish. I went with the relic'd because the relicing was pretty subtle, but more important I knew the finish would be much lighter, which it was.
i like the nitrocellulose finish, but most of them already come relic'd. i really don't care though.
God that guitar is sexy bro!
Yo its ned flanders !
Friedman guitars are fantastic, but I would never buy a 'relic'd' guitar. Honestly I wouldn't buy a vintage that was that beat up either, so it really is just a personal preference.
“Science”
Agree love the KM but this is my fave, great looking beast. Not you Robert.
p90s are the best
I think why not your own custom guitar...
Is the answer yes? Lol
I hate you!! I was totally happy with my rig...but now I want P90s. Agh!!!
