People keep assuming I'm in love with every creature on earth based on my diet and then are shocked when I say I find all sea animals a bit repugnant and honestly scary. And don't get me started on snakes! They're not cute and cuddly, but neither am I! I still believe they should be treated with kindness and respect!
That brings up a question I've had for some time now. Can I be a vegan and still crush spiders that I see in my house? Can I be a vegan and kill a mouse that I find in my pantry?

I love how she sees both sides and doesn’t attack people with the vegan arguments. I know a lot of vegans who attach a cult-like status to it. A lot of vegans are stubborn and never hear people out. But Unnatural Vegan actually responds neutrally and calmly. And I love that trait. You win arguments by remaining calm and neutral, not by being loud and forceful.

I don't think it's fair to discredit everyone who eats meat as "doesn't care about animals". My dog is quite likely the best friend I have right now, but I don't have any particular attachment to the cows getting slaughtered.
It's harsh, but I think it comes down to the fact that humans are inherently self-absorbed. We care about those in our circle, human or not. In other words, if I don't know you, I'm less likely to mourn for you. Some people have incredible empathy and reach that level, but the rest of us are just mere mortals.

We can eat meat and still be advocates for animal rights. Most meat eaters want animals to be treated as humanely as possible, and many of them take part in efforts to stop animal abuse just as vegetarians do.

I feel like you are being a bit to generous with Vegan Teacher´s activism. You say is hard to determine if her aproach is ineffective, and I concede that is hard to measure and we can´t really know for sure. But how likely is it that someone will listen to her overly confrontational arguments when even a polite vegan argument makes most people defensive. The realization that something that you do everyday is wrong is a big shock and a cognitive dissonace, of course is hard. The vegan Teacher behaves in many ways like the caricature of the "crazy vegan" that so many non-vegans use as a strawman, many of her arguments are actually true, but delivered in such a way that makes people even less receptive. She is almost like "confort food" for people who like to make fun of vegans and ignore their arguments by focusing in the most controversial advocates. The one thing that she does well over many creators is gaining attention, and as a content creator that may benefit her. But does it benefit the cause she advocates for in any way? Is any non-vegan going to look at her content and think about it and be convinced or are they gonna react like SSSniperwolf and many other and just be "Man, she crazy. Well, moving on..."

Both of them are playing obnoxious characters as a way of getting impressions. It doesn't really make too much sense to correct their arguments, since the whole schtick is just about getting people riled up. It's a winning strategy in the current state of social media; they get rewarded by the algorithms and all the downsides are externalized to the rest of society

Cows are SO cute! 🐄 I remember the first time I saw a cow up close. I fed the cow clovers she couldn't reach through the fence from my hand, and when I looked into her big eyes and they looked full of soul and beauty, and such thick lashes! You can also tell cows LOVE their family members, they cuddle and headbutt each other, and that adds to their adorableness. 🐄💕 Moo moo.

I don’t like TVT either. Just want to mention that plants don’t have nerves. While they do have complex cell mechanisms that respond to stimuli, they have nothing approximating a neural or synaptic network.

That Vegan Teacher is absolutely using a strategy but I think it's probably pretty close to her real self. I think the same can be said for Sssniperwolf, though. It seems they both lack a fair amount of self-awareness and general empathy on some level. I'm not 100% vegan anymore but I make a very conscious effort to be as much as possible (depending on availability and cost). In an effort to be more environmentally friendly (2 hrs each way for real groceries), I've been looking at creating a cheap greenhouse (coastal birds are brutal) and micro-farming what I can. Misfits Market has an online shop offering more vegan products as well as a customizable [ugly] produce box delivered [together] weekly. They are currently working to be able to accept EBT cards as payment as well :)
I discovered SSSniperwolf when I was looking for videos making fun of dhar Mann videos (I know I have strange hobbies), and found one of her reacting to one. People can be or act narcissistic without having narcissism (narcissistic personality disorder.) The term comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus, so being narcissistic is being like Narcissus. I get the argument, and similar arguments (like being opposed to calling someone bipolar -- having two extremes -- because it is misconstrued as accusing someone of having bipolar disorder.) but it limits words when they have broader definitions than the niche uses in regards to medical definitions.
True, but it's still overused. It's incorrect to call someone a "narcissist" if they don't have the disorder, but "narcissistic" fits with a more trait based description. It waters it down, and there are plenty of other words that can be used.

Technically the most appropriate time to call someone a narcissist, when not affiliated with the disorder, is when they are overly concerned and/or obsessed with their physical appearence.
Yeah, the word predates the disorder by centuries. I still share this peeve because when many people use the word nowadays, they’re speaking from modern internet folklore of this struggle between evil narcissist abusers and virtuous light-breathing empaths.

I have tried to go vegan before but I am unable due to an allergy. I eat meat but whenever I can I eat a vegan/vegetarian substitute.
Have you tried challenge 22? A registered dietician there may be able to help you go vegan all the way, for free.

I'm a practicing Christian and I always get mad at the argument that God put animals on this Earth to be eaten. Actually, if you read Genesis it clearly says that plants are supposed to be our food source and it's only after the fall of man when both humans and animals start to eat each other (as well as waging war and all the f... up things in the world). So BY DESIGN we're not supposed to eat meat, the same way we're not supposed to feel pain, that's not what God intended, that's just a consequence of the Original Sin, and by going vegan we're getting closer to our ideal state the same way we do everything in our power to minimize pain in our societies.
Actually that’s not entirely true. According to the book of genesis(chapter 9 I believe) it’s actually perfectly fine to eat meat as long as the blood is removed. God himself directly says so.
I also don’t know where it says in the Bible humans were not supposed to feel pain who God created Adam and Eve. If God gave Adam and Eve the sense of touch, that naturally the sensation of pain would’ve been a side effect.
@@warrenrhinerson6373 Well, of course you can eat meat, I never said it was a sin, what I said is that it's not according to God's original design, and part of the journey of mankind is trying to get closer to God, and we have reached a point in our societies that we don't really need to kill animals to sustain ourselves, so we can be more faithful to what God intended for us.
The freedom from pain in Paradise is a common theme through all the Bible. Starting from Genesis when Eve gets cursed with pain in childbearing (and no one in their right mind would say it's a sin to give epidural anesthesia to a mother during childbirth), and ending with Revelation when it says that there will be no more tears or pain when all the former things cease to exist.

In this video, like many others, you speculate on a future where most people will go vegan. How do you reconcile that with another thing you’ve talked about: people who don’t know enough about nutrition or have big health issues shouldn’t be vegan. Will people be more intelligent in the future or will the governments put b12 to all our groceries?
(Asking this as a long time fan and a vegan, I don’t know the answers myself but I’d love you to make a video about this)

They will put b12. After all meat products are already substituted with it.
I mean, some Skandinavian countries are already adding b12 in bread, bc of their lack of sun. And artificial meat, egg, milk technologies as well as other food related tech are going to improve and become competitive to animal sourced ones.
I believe it was Finland adding selenium to their soil to enrich the crops growing on it (esp. Europes soil doesn’t have that much selenium in it), so people got more selenium “naturally” without having to think about Supplements. Maybe something like that could be part of the solution too

Mostly agree with your video with the exception of a couple points, the 9/11 hypothetical vegan teacher posed is really cruel, it’s a national tragedy that sits close to almost every Americans heart and using it as “clout” is very distasteful and cruel due to how personal such tragedy is to most Americans. A similar scenario could be posed without using a national tragedy, ex. “Can the murder of a nonvegan be justified?”. While I’m not American I am really hurt when people describe the consumption of meat as the “Holocaust” of animals. As much as I value animal life/suffering over human comfort I still value human life over animal life, humans suffering over animal suffering. Using a generational trauma, a tragedy that still affects Jews today to compare it to animals, is a disrespectful when Jews where treated worse than cattle and it kinda minimizes the pain and suffering experienced. I would assume Americans feel the same way about 9/11. Factory farmed cattle are suffering but it certainly immoral to punch down, justify, minimize 9/11 or the Holocaust in some obscure way especially when the goal isn’t to pose a moral dilemma but to get more views and reaction.

@@RestingBitchface7 That's literally how we teach animals like dogs to do tricks. By teaching them patterns and 'conditioning' them by rewarding them when they do what we want. If a cow can understand patterns like when it is going to be fed, it can most definitely be taught tricks.
@@mickey7402 I raise cattle for a living. That’s called food conditioning. Period. My dogs open and close gates, herd livestock from one paddock to another, fetch sick animals, track, hunt, guard and tree. All of them were trained without the use of treats.

Not evil, but kind of…dumb? Correction, very dumb. I hope most non-vegans don’t really believe cows and chickens don’t have intrinsic value? To give her the benefit of the doubt, she might be playing a role or exaggerating. Would have to watch more of her content, which I’m not going to do.
They mostly do though think like that. Plenty of people who may be decent but do not understand why animal lovers or animal rights activists go to such lengths to help or care for the wellbeing of "just" livestock.
The intrinsic value of cattle and chickens is food. That is their value, without which they have little purpose.

@@woosh2055 dogs and cats are used as food in urban China, why? Because there’s no land in urban areas to raise cattle and those farmers who sell the animals are dirt poor and cannot afford the turn around time. Nevertheless, the point is not arbitrary at all.
My dog is with me 24 hours a day; he does a job. He opens and closes cattle gates for the trucks and tractors to go through. He herds my livestock from one paddock to another. He acts as a guardian for my herds and flocks, and he and his siblings kill predatory interlopers on sight and on command. Can I get a steer to do any of that? No. Can I get the birds to do that? The goats? The sheep? No. But the dogs are trained to do all of this and more before the age of 18 months. They have jobs. They know what they’re supposed to do, and they do it without being asked. The closest thing next to my dogs that can be trained that way is a mule. Why? Because mules are straight up all about self preservation and protecting their territory. Cattle don’t do that. Neither do horses, even. But my dogs? They’re valuable, trained workers.
What are my cattle trained to do? Show up at the barn when it’s time for treats, take their place in the queue, be milked, and go back out until it’s time for another handful of sweet feed. The beef cattle? Same thing. They show up to the trough when there’s a new mineral block. Yay!
One steer will feed me for a year. One dog will feed me for three or four meals. Animal husbandry is all about maximizing efficiency and yields. And dogs and cats are desperation foods for people without access to higher quality meats.
If you actually had a clue, you’d know all of this, because it’s not the least little bit arbitrary.

I love your channel! I grew up among ranchers in Texas. I was convinced to become vegan long, long before That Vegan Teacher made that choice because I actually *saw* cows being slaughtered at a small abattoir in Texas. I was fifteen.
SSSniperwolf does not care about others in general. However, she is very savvy about how to manipulate YT opinion. And she she makes lots and lots of money doing it. She appeals to the lowest common denominator of human impulse: Hate, controversy and insult. RUclips would have to revise its algorithms to stop serving up her heartless videos to gullible young viewers. RUclips is not going to do that because YT is motivated by the same things she is: Making big bank through appealing to the basest motivations of human nature.
I really respect people like you. You stand your points but you don't overdo it. Even though we share different opinions, this video didn't piss me off at all.

I’m Christian and vegan! To my knowledge there is no commandment that says “you must eat meat.” Lol. In fact, there is some scripture to support God’s intention for creation before the fall was for humans to be vegan. However, eating meat is not a sin. We just don’t have to, so.
