    Haha love it
    " your job is literally making food taste good, are you just bad at your job"
    Im a chef and found it much easier to maintain a vegan diet purely because i have knowledge of food and was able to make my usual favorites as a vegan alternative version.
    I feel sorry for nigella being in the spotlight, her actions are highlighted which cant be easy as she is a human being after all, unfortunately being vegan means you lose a few votes along the way you really need to be strong enough to leave the dirty looks and negative comments behind you which i guess was hard for her.

      Raw fruits and raw vegetables contain all essential amino acids and they are the best sources of protein.
      When we eat enough calories from raw fruits, then we get enough protein.
      Cooking renders at least 50% of the protein useless.
      Cooked food caused and maintains the fall of mankind.
      The raw vegan diet is the salvation of humanity.
      Animal products and cooked food are toxic and in the long run deadly.

      I think it could also help more people stop eating animal products because I know people who won't go vegan because they don't want to be seen as a vegan, they don't want to have to dive into the ethics of it etc..they just want to eat healthier or lose weight or they feel bad about eating animals, but not in a way that makes them want to go into the dark behind the scenes side of the meat and dairy industry, if that makes sense. So if the distinction between veganism and a plant based diet was more widely known I think more people would switch.

    I personally think that transitioning slowly, educating yourself, experimenting with recipes, forgiving yourself for slip ups that you may have, and staying away from the intense side of veganism (if you're easily overwhelmed) in the beginning are all necessary for a successful switch to being plant based for a lot of people. I'd be interested in your take on Mic the Vegan's interview about a vegan diet reversing psoriasis. I'm happy for anyone finding improvement, either through diet or medication. But as a sufferer of severe psoriatic arthritis for 30 years, and not-quite-vegan but close, it doesn't sit well with me. He's setting up the false hope that diet can cure the disease, when there's no real evidence that's true. The topic requires some nuance and sensitivity that Mic doesn't quite manage, but I know you could.

      Veganism and plant based eating is definitely no cure to disease can maybe slow progression just like any good planned diet. However usually best treatment for people is a combined effort of a diet, exercise plan, sleep sleep sleep, stress management, and finally medical treatment with a good doctor. All of what i said are hard to do and definitely easier said then done. Autoimmune conditions are tuff cause can be influenced by environment and a lot of the time the damage is done. A lot of the time these diets promise things that either don't meet the desire goal or in most cases either help it a little or slow it from getting worse or nothing at all. That is my perspective.

      It sounds more likely to possibly cure eczema due to food allergy and merely improve symptoms of psoriasis. I have a friend with psoriasis and psoriasis arthritis and it's obvious that multiple activities are triggers and there are lots of things you need to do and not do to prevent. I get her a whole kit of things to help her with her symptoms for christmas and she has perscriptions and she eats healthy. Almost no matter what it will be back for winter. She has had psoriasis since she was like 13.
      I think mainly it would be due to eating less inflammatory food. That is not the only source of inflammation for sure though! Something else that reduces inflammation is sunlight and you can get that no matter what other choices you make. I have seen it make my dad's go into remission and he smokes and smokes, eats what he wants, and doesn't want to use the special soap or lotion until his skin has gotten raw.
      Your other life choices are probably more important also. Could you be vegan and a smoker and cure your psoriasis? Use harsh soap? Absolutely not!
      Also I have eczema and have been thinking maybe I have a food allergy because my nose has been running after I eat and thinking maybe my eczema will significantly improve after I figure that out.

    • @xSwordLilyx
      @xSwordLilyx 2 года назад +1

      PS I have also heard people claim that a meat-only diet 😳🤢 cures inflammatory conditions like arthritis. Mikhaila Peterson.
      I am thinking this may be possibly true because it probably excludes all food allergies, however that is because it absolutely insanely restrictive and it's not something probably almost anyone would need to do, and there are probably things Mikhaila could eat that she is scared to try to eat, and you would have to eat organ meat to meat nutritional needs, and it is probably the only thing more expensive than a vegan diet. She does say she can have sweet potatoes and at least one other vegetable, limited fruit. Were I in her shoes I would be eating baked sweet-tats like my doctor told me I would do or die.

    • @RichardSmith-ot3zk

      Mic does say at some point that this diet might not cure your psoriasis. The National Psoriasis Foundation says: "There is no diet that will cure psoriatic disease." I've tried them all, none of them work for me. You start thinking that you failed the diet, when, no you just got dealt a bad hand in the genetic lottery.
      By all means, eat a healthy diet, maintain a healthy body weight. But if you have a serious disease such as psoriasis, go to a medical professional.

    • @RichardSmith-ot3zk
      @RichardSmith-ot3zk 2 года назад

      @@xSwordLilyx I totally predicted that on the comments on Mic's vid and that's one reason reason you shouldn't go down this road: Yes, there is absolutely someone out there who can truthfully say, I went on a carnivore diet and then my psoriasis went away. Maybe they lost weight, maybe they eliminated some other triggers (I'm skeptical of the concept), or maybe it just decided to go away. That's the problem with anecdotes. But, generally, it's best to reduce your meat consumption to reduce your risk of comorbidities that come along with psoriasis, such as heart disease and stroke.
      I've been at this for 30 years now. I'm distrustful of people in general. You try to open up about what you're going through and you get back advice about some miracle diet or cure they heard about. I got dealt a bad hand, genetically. Insanely expensive meds make it go away. I don't need anyone prying into the details of my diet.

      Chimpanzees really aren't herbivores either. They eat mostly fruit, sure, but meat makes up a very small part of their diet (not including insects here). They tend to hunt in groups and their chosen prey is often monkeys such as red colobus or infant and juvenile baboons. They were thought to be completely herbivorous previously but now we know their canines are used at least occasionally for eating other animals.
      But yeah, it's kind of a misconception that canines are just for meat. Other uses I can think of just off the top of my head are competition/aggression against conspecifics or defense against predators. And gelada baboons have crazy sharp and huge canines that can do serious damage against even a leopard.

      Minerals come from the Earth (as in "rock") so sulfur can easily be added to the diet without animals as a filter. Where does the doc think the chickens got it? They don't make minerals either and plants get them/minerals from the soil. Minerals are the easiest to supplement if you don't have good soil (plants and farm animals get supplements when the soil is deficient). This is why horses need B12. Without rich soil, the grass they eat is deficient and so are the animals.

    I will gladly admit that I struggle with veganism. I am autistic and can't handle stressful situations as well as some people can. A few months ago I moved to a new house. It was really stressful. So I allowed myself to go vegetarian temporarily because I couldn't handle the stess of the move and staying vegan. Another recent example. I ordered a hotpop microwave popcorn maker from Amazon. I ordered a purple one and they accidentally sent me a red one. Yesterday I was excited to get my popcorn maker and almost had an autistic meltdown when I saw it was the wrong color. I was in a not so good emotional state for the rest of the day. I have a history of self medicating with food. I got a pizza craving. So I went out and got a Kroger brand cheese pizza. I did so knowing full well how unethical the dairy industry is. But I am not going to beat myself up for getting a pizza. Today I ate the rest of the pizza and have gone back to being vegan.
    I have other issues besides autism. So sometimes being vegan isn't going to happen. If I am vegan most of the time that's still making a huge difference.
    I really hate vegans who shit on people for not being 110% vegan 110% of the time. That kind of attitude doesn't help the animals. Maybe for some people they see a factory farming documentary and go vegan forever and ever. But for some of us it's not that easy.

    eggs are just so easy

    done
    you can even hard boil them and take them on trips. It's extremely frustrating that there is so much cruelty in the egg industry because there is absolutely no need for it and I want to be able to eat fricken eggs without harming anything. It's too cold here to keep chickens without a lot of stuff set up for them, quite a big undertaking and my yard is quite small anyway.
    I feel like we have.. what's it called.. freetarian teeth.. opportunistic teeth... the easier a nutrient source was to find the more teeth we have for that, but we have teeth for everything just in case.. like we should use the fact that our ancestors were often starving and desperate for food, and traveled around and needed to be able to eat what they found in new habitats with no niche for them, as a basis for ethical decisions in 2021
    Equally ridiculous ad-hoc evolutionary speculation: also cows can't bite you, they don't have top teeth. Horses have top teeth. their diets are quite similar. So how come horses have top teeth? Because they bite each other to communicate and in fights. Therefore, humans have canines so we can bite each other in fights and in self defense, not for eating meat. You know human bites are one of the worst bites for humans? One of the most likely to cause infection? Maybe there is a reason for that! Your canines are WEAPONS, Nigella.

    One of the things about Nigella is she is not only a wealthy celebrity, she is from a borderline aristocratic background. Her father was a prominent politician I think and her mother was an heiress for a huge food-related business, so when she says "proper food" she's referring to the fact that she's always eaten like the best of the best. She's always had and cooks with high quality meat from a butcher, the freshest produce money can buy etc.etc.
    And you can see that reflected in her shows, she's notorious for whipping out ingredients you're not so likely to find in your local supermarket and using cuts of meat wrapped in their brown paper and string like something from a bygone era. So things like mock-meats and such probably do seem completely repugnant to her. BUT, also, she definitely probably had 0 intention of actually committing to a vegan diet and just did this for a bit of current-clout; much as I adore her the lady has made no secret over the years of being bewildered by veggie-vegan diets.

I'm exaggerating a lot, but my point is that similar to you, I think that all you have to do is say no thank you to veganism and move on. You don't have to play holier than thou.

    Spot on, very good video, so perceptive: many points. Yes, Nigella Lawson seems confused, rationalising and indeed those weak arguments are so evident - "lame excuses" - that it's probably good for veganism that they are aired. Thanks. Oh and I hope people will check out my first vegan video, 'Plant based: an important point' on my channel Happily Vegan Since 2000. Thanks. (I've included a screenshot of a cover of an Unnatural vegan video too, thanks.)

    What makes our teeth "meat specific"? Bears are omnivores and they have fangs...we have wimpy spades like horses. LOL, does she not realise that "canines" are the tooth position? It's not the type (fang or spade), just where those teeth are in relation to your other teeth.🙄

    Notice how much weight she lost on a low carb keto diet. What she cooks is not what she eats. Not anymore. Her obsession with food is genuine but also part of the I’m not so perfect theme. Because she often comes across as quite perfect. But her attention to detail flavor and color are unique. Besides the fact that being vegan is so easy in the UK. Not here in Japan. The night time snacking is gross. She s actually not a good speaker. She has that upper class British habit like the royals of constantly reworking her sentences at least in discussions. Her presentations are very well done. Her daughter is vegetarian and her son might be. But I confess to have binge watched her programmes. There is an Australian drag queen who does an excellent Nigella.

    The argument of teeth in humans is sometimes ridiculous. Ok, it is a fact human is an omnivore animal, but you would never see it from our teeth, which remind more of those of a horse than of a carnivore animal. Humans have the less carnivore-looking teeth in the monkey family. And many other primates with bigger canines are not carnivores, while of course some of them are. The thing is that big fangs are not meant to eat, but to fight, defend, disuade... or hunt... But not for the action of eating itself. We have flat front teeth and square molar teeth for that, which would be more an herbivore trait than the other way around. 🤷🏻‍♂️ People seem to not understand teeth... Like they usually misunderstand or simply don't know a huge amount of facts about the animal kingdom.
    Edit: what differentiates real carnivores are not just the fangs, but the spiky molars. Those are the true special teeth for meat. Humans don't have such. So it is ok to say we are omnivores but stupid if we compare ourselves with families so distant as canids and felines. We are more closely related to squirrels.

      @search895 2 года назад

      @@Assassin99584 I think I already said that twice in my comment.
      Let me explain it for the third time: we are more related to squirrels and rats than to wolves and lions, and our teeth are more similar to horses's than to carnivores. Despite being omnivorous. My point is that our canines as an argument for meat is a silly idea.
      Omnivorous doesnt mean you need to have meat everyday. Most bears are omnivorous and many species spend months without meat or fish.

      @@search895 well our teeth are more complicated as large teeth are for defensive and offensive purposes but we have tools so we never needed our teeth to be big our teeth are solely for eating which is why they aren’t super sharp but they aren’t blunt either
      I’m saying we are biologically designed for meat and I’d rather stick to our biological diet which is a diet containing plants and meat

    I'm not her, so I can't say for sure - but I would guess she jumped in for the wrong reason (becauseinstagram) and too quickly. Back when I ate meat (over a decade ogo) I couldn't make Emeril's or Paula Dean's recipes because my upbringing would not allow me to eat so much fat and refined carbs all at once. 😂 I first went flex (slow foodist of meat 2 times a week), then vegetarian and then vegan. My transition was casual and comfortable. Im a great cook, but I did have to actually learn "food chemistry" so that may have been what stopped her...give yourself time/room to learn. The more I learned, the more I changed/transitioned. I have always been independent in action (don't care or rely on peer approval) so I ate (or didn't eat) whatever I wanted on my own terms. If you have kids, I can sympathise with that added pressure, so go slow. When I went vegetarian, my boyfriend said he had always wanted to, but felt a LOT of pressure not to (gender, unfortunately, still plays a role in this). So with me by his side, we both went vegetarian and later vegan together. Don't give up on your goals and support your relationship in the process (don't cut people off/out of your life). You can still be you while the rest of the world makes up it's mind.

    I'm so happy with this channel and making veganism accessible. You made me realise I don't have to give it all or nothing. Because I'll never see myself going all the way, but I do want to do as much as I'm comfortable with. Which means no meat, no milk, no yogurts and no butter. I do still eat cheese, though not everyday. And I love baking pies, so I use eggs for that. I do buy the organic kind so the chickens have space and won't peck each other. I think that a diet that doesn't feel restrictive does much more good in the long run. It's easier to maintain.
    Edit: before people start commenting on how organic eggs aren't free of animal abuse, I know. But it's the best I can get and the lesser of all the egg-evils in my supermarket.
