  • The Yamaha EF2000ISV2 has been great for our small Jayco 145RB Trailer. It can charge the battery, run the microwave and run the air conditioner. The problem is that I don't use it enough and the pilot jet keeps clogging even though I ran the carb dry and emptied the carb bowl. So I decided to install a propane conversion kit from Motor Snorkel. The kit instructions are pretty generic and don't tell you where/how to install it on the Yamaha. This video shows what I did.
    I have a EF2000ISV2, but I see Yamaha has a new EF2200iS version out ( amzn.to/2CBgzz9 ).

    BTW-I am full-time RVer for past 6 years in a 21' trailer. Primary electricity is solar but on them cloudy days I have the gen for back-up. After 3,500 hours of use on my EF2000IS, the ring burned out. Started smoking badly. To be honest, my bad. I didn't replace the oil as frequently as I should've with that much use (I know better now!). Anyhow, I replaced it with the iPower. They are sold at Costco for under half the price of the identical Yamaha. They are advertised powered by Yamaha engines and are almost undetectably identical to the Yamaha. Its not a scam, not junk. You get the same product without paying for the name. I've had it now for 2 years and nearly 2,000 hours. Works like a charm. Service center is in So Cal NOT China. I STRONGLY recommend this to fellow campers! Happy Travels

    How is the propane supply metered depending on the load of the generator? From what I see, it is not - it's just running the same amount of fuel regardless of the load on the generator. Also, what mechanism exists to ensure the flow of gas is turned off when the generator stops? Who would be ignorant enough to think that doing it this way this is a good idea?

    Did you notice if the propane conversion reduces noise or makes it louder?

    I have two of these generators that already have a conversion kit on them. Can you still use gasoline as a backup?

    • @SerendipitySue
      @SerendipitySue  7 месяцев назад

      On the conversion kit I used, you can still use gasoline. I try to avoid it because it tends to gum up carb if you don't use it for a long time.

    Nice video. Same question as below - how long with the generator run powered by a full propane bottle? Yamaha's are known for being quiet but that one sounded awful loud? Was it echoing from your garage?

    • @SerendipitySue
      @SerendipitySue  4 года назад +1

      Yamaha is pretty quiet. Probably the garage echo

    I assume the "snorkel" is one of the modification parts that comes with the kit? Appears it goes past the choke and restricts movement of the baffle. So, I take it you don't choke it like normally when cold and gasoline? And finally, since you've had it now for a couple years, do you find the propane to be anymore a problem at higher elevations? I spend most of the year 8-8,500 ft. Thats been an issue with the gasoline that I've learned a work-around. Thanks. Happy Travels!

      snorkel is part of kit. Propane so much better than gas. Haven't had any carb gumming up issues. I don't camp as frequently as you. I haven't camped at high altitude, so I don't know if that's an issue.

      Hi Mountain Grown Nomad. What work-around have you used for higher elevations?

    • @mountaingrownnomad4212
      @mountaingrownnomad4212 3 года назад

      @@mghubb Remove the screen in the exhaust. Otherwise it builds up carbon and restricts air flow. Thats all it took and it runs great. No need to rejet. Just have to keep filter clean an exhaust clear. I'm on 1,800 hours of operation on this iPower model from Costco for half the price of the Yamaha but with the Yamaha engine.

      I think this is it ( amzn.to/335hjpD ), but I purchased it directly from Motor Snorkel ( www.motorsnorkel.com/motor-snorkel-tri-fuel-natural-gas-propane-and-gasoline-conversion-kit-4367.html )

      @@SerendipitySue hi there, thanks for sharing your great video. I’ve been looking for a conversion kit like yours to install on my 2000 watt firman generator. The link for Amazon shows it’s unavailable and the link for motor snorkel won’t come up. I realize your post is 3 years old.

      It's a Yamaha clone so it should work. The fuel shutoff might be the problem if it is also the off switch
