I converted my Honda EU2200i generator to use propane. I used the Hutch Mountain Generator Propane Conversion Kit. This DIY conversion kit makes it super easy to convert your Honda gas generator so that it can use propane. What I love about it is that after doing the conversion, the generator can use either gas or propane. So you are not limited in your options. The great thing about updating your generator to use propane is that you can store and bunch of 20lb propane tanks and you don't have to worry about the propane going bad like you do with gasoline. I highly recommend this propane conversion kit. Check it out in the link below: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I'm getting one of these soon. I may make it propane right off the bat. You sold me on not having to stabilize and rotate gas. In FL we might need it once ever y 1 or 2 years. Propane seems like a no-brainer.
I did this conversion about three years ago and it has worked flawlessly. I love it no gas fumes from the gas tank so it can be stored in the basement and transporting it in a car is so much better. I did it to a brand new generator never put gas in it. It was as easy to do as you make it look. Hutch Mountain is a great Co. as is Honda, a great combination. Just one of those things that I’m so glad I did.
Pretty sweet! Have been seriously looking into converting one of my Honda EU2200's over to propane.. I keep plenty of treated (and rotated) fuel on hand, but with the world being what it is today, having a back-up for your Plan B" is always a good thing.. Already have more propane tanks than the average bear, so this option will work.. Appreciate you Brother!
Nice job, you make it look very easy probably take me hours, I’m glad you explained why you did it and you have a good point, petrol or gas does go bad and it is pain, you can get additives to keep the petrol from spoiling, I don’t think they’re worth it they are way too expensive, thank you very interesting 👍
Great video great explanation and excellent video thank you so much for sharing this , I will check my Honda generators now not sure if their Eu2000i or E2200 i , also one question I have two exactly the same about 3 years apart with a parrallel cable to synchronise the power between generators , can one be running on petrol , whilst the other on LPG , and still use the synchronising cable between the 2 generators? Many thanks again mate , kind regards Dave from down under in Australia , ps I grabbed your link and checked out Amazon it seems I might need an option 1 , also it states voltage at 120 volts , in Australia they run 240 volts , but I don’t think it matters , because it’s only the fuel source , the generator and inverter are the determining factors for the voltage output , not the fuel source .
Please advise people that by switching to propane you no longer have a 2200 watt generator. Propane has about 10% less BTU over gasoline so the engine cannot produce the same power. It’s just good to know.
Just ordered the same generator and the same conversion kit from the manufacturer. Being done for same reasons as you + prevent carb gumming. I'm curious if you've tested what kind of runtime you get on a full tank of propane. My max load would be below any 10% drop in BTU the conversion may cause. Many report no reduction, some say 10%, some say 3%-5%, others say the difference is usually not significant enough to be noticeable in most situations.
So, are there any differences in the set up for this kit and generators that already come duel fuel? I just cant believe Honda hasn't just made this the standard setup if its that easy and there are no other changes that they would have to make.
The new kits have you take it out... I missed this step (because I watched a bunch of old videos... and without removing the original the bolt is not long enough to reach the threads... (I spent 20 minutes trying to get it to start thresding)... Yed, do like this guy did... 😎
You put the spacer on wrong. The spacer goes on the inside of the airbox. Feed the screw in and hold the spacer on the other (inside) of the air filter. It's supposed to hold the air box even with the carb and away from the engine
Yes, there is no need to drain to the oil when the generator is in storage. It is one less thing that you need to worry about when it comes time to use the generator
A Honda Dealer said they cover Manufacturers Defects Only! All the Gasoline problems, stale gasoline, clogged carberator, stuck needle and seat, gasoline soaked spark plug, ethanol gasoline, over full oil - gasoline in the oil and more gasoline problems! Honda Warranty Does Not Cover All These Gasoline Problems! They will fix it but Not Under Warranty. You will pay for this out of pocket!! All these gasoline problems are (All Prevented) by using Vapor fuels like propane or natural gas!!! Propane fuel is cheaper and cheaper from all the gasoline repair shop expensive and slow repairs!!! That's alot of time and money added up! Propane or Natural Gas Doesn't Blow Up Like (I Once Too) and Everyone Thinks! I've been using propane for years. Gasoline is more volatile and hurts people bad. But we all got to practice safety, common sense and Never Any Drinking or Drugs or Any Type At All Including Mind Altering Pharma Drugs Too! Doing this can hurt or kill someone!
@@tomtee4442 this guy is 100% correct. Ive had so many fuel related issues with my 2200, in fact when i bought it brand new it only ran for an hour then stalled. Couldnt restart it. I drove 30 minutes out of my way to get high octane ethanol free fuel. Honda claims it was bad fuel that clogged the carburetor jet, charged me $100. Honesty this warranty is absolutely worthless for the actual issues you will run into for this generator.
Anyone use this, if so: I know propane is more efficient, but how long will a 20# tank last @ rated load (1800W 15A)? The site shows gas (0.95 gal) lasting 3.2 hours, and when I put the engine specs and shit into chatgpt it says the same But then for propane (because I don't know what the usage rate, etc. are) it says 846 hours, which is 35 days. I know that number isn't right, but I'd like to know if anyone has done this and if so, what runtimes are you getting?
I did years ago I bought 2 New cheap Chinese inverter generators. They both broke one stopped making power and the other one the engine locked up. They would cost more money to fix than both the generators were worth. These cheap generators are made to break. Now I have Tri fuel Hondas Inverter Portable Generators running on propane only! And I sell them on Facebook!

I installed this kit 2 years ago. A little pricey but worth it to me as propane has so many advantages over gas.
That’s great I have twin 2200s and twin 7 gal propane’s on the trailer Great info and Video 👍

Really clear instructions. Thanks for the close up photos. Very helpful.
Very helpful man appreciate it!

I was wondering that. I wish we knew the actual power difference vs just knowing the difference in energy density.
Probably will drop down to ~ 1800-1900 watts I’m guessing.
Nice video looks like an easy enough process. The link stated it’s “tri-fuel” would you just leave the knob in propane mode for natural gas as well?
Turn off the propane at the tank is the recommended way to shut the generator off... Propane will continue to enter without doing this...
That's what I was wondering most use a vacume pulse from the intake to open and close the regulator valve I don't see a vacuum hose on these
I suppose the instructions advise to drain or run the carburetor dry before turning on the propane feed?
Great video!! Would this kit also work off a natural gas line?
Yes,from my understanding but there are additional steps you need to take.
Did you loose any power or wattage going from gasoline to propane ?

looks hella easy!

The nylon spacer go behind the sleeve washer? Why take it out?

kann the generator 20 kilo propane tanked?
what prevents the propane from leaking with engine off and tank on
Yes, it is recommended to shut the propane tank valve off and let it run out when shutting the generator off...
I believe the nylon spacer goes behind the air box.
Curious what that silver piece is called and if I can mount it on my RV
How long does that propane tank last??
You put the spacer on wrong. The spacer goes on the inside of the airbox. Feed the screw in and hold the spacer on the other (inside) of the air filter. It's supposed to hold the air box even with the carb and away from the engine
Well done !
Why doesn't Honda make a kit ?
will this kit work on a AIVOLT 1200W, :)
Im curious if this would work on the knockoff chinese versions
Pulsar Generator has propane / gas ..sells at $400 Amazon..2000 watts on propane..
What is the stainless steel cylinder attached to the propane tank?
The regulator and the hutch mountain adapter it.
Installed this converted kits will terminate Honda 3 years warranty ?
I don’t know for sure but you know it will…..
@@vaughnharris6404 , I am very happy after installed this kit. Thanks.
Can you store away the generator with oil inside the gen?
Yes, there is no need to drain to the oil when the generator is in storage. It is one less thing that you need to worry about when it comes time to use the generator
Does this modification void the three year honda warranty??
Of course it does you've modified it from factory spec. I'd remove the kit if you had any warranty issues before you brought it into a shop.

What is that large disc on the pressure regulator?
The pressure regulator.
@@ooigfgnnkhjjnc Pressure regulators that I know only have the small piece he is holding in his left hand at 7:45.

On a standard 20 lb. BBQ Tank a full load will run for approx.. 12 HRs, Half load for approx.. 22 hrs., and a quarter load for approx.. 33 hrs.
Is there no need to drain the carburetor bowl of fuel before starting the propane?
Yes you need to run the generator with the carb bowl empty and the gasoline peacock turned off.
grenogy make one that is better, it comes with longer bolts. and the part it metal, not plastic.
Why not just get a propane generator.?
Because you already have this? And it’s small, quiet. Popular for boondocking.

This Hutch kit has to be a joke....imagine trusting a piece of 3D-printed plastic bolted onto your engine to safely deliver its fuel 🤣 3:58
I don't know man. The kit also includes a zip tie! In my eyes that screams quality!!
please how kann you contact?
