Installing a Sliding Door Hidden Step in Promaster Van
We love our Promaster Van Build. We were using a Harbor Freight step stool to get in/out of the sliding door. The problem was that it wasn't always steady and we had to store it some where. I found a low-profile Stromberg Carlson Manual RV Step that installs nicely. It only took me about an hour to install. I had to drill out three 5/16" holes in the van frame (I used one existing hole). I used Plus-nuts for a strong thread. I had to drill two 5/16" holes in the step. The step works great and doesn't reduce the ground clearance by much. It is also very quiet. It doesn't rattle.
Things I used:
* Stromberg Carlson Manual RV Step ( amzn.to/4euVKmF )

Blue Heron Bobbing Wind Toy
Просмотров 292Месяц назад
I love wind toys. I've designed quite a few wind spinners. I live near a nature preserve that hosts many different birds. We often see big Blue Herons silently standing in the marsh. They suddenly bob their head down and grab a fish. I thought I'd try to make a wind toy that bobs up and down. The Prusa XL with 5 heads is great for easily printing these multi-color projects. RYOBI Carving, Filleting, Foam Cutting Electric Knife

When I see a useful idea for a RYOBI tool, I prototype it and hope the user community can convince RYOBI to make one. While working on my Promaster Van Conversion, I found a need for a carving knife to cut the bed/seat cushion foam. I decided to prototype an 18V and a 4V USB version. I think it would be a great product for carving meat, filleting fish, and cutting foam. Here are my results. I p...
Making Clear Replacement Parts: Pros & Cons of of 3D Printing, Silicone Molds, and Heat Forming

I was trying to help a friend make some replacement parts for his Tonka Toy Collection. He needed a clear windshield for his Clipper Boat. I've never really 3D printed clear parts before, so I thought I'd give it a try. As I suspected, 3D printed parts aren't really clear because of all the layer lines. New RYOBI USB 2A/3A Lithium Battery Tests and Charger Hack

RYOBI has come out with new 2A & 3A USB Lithium batteries (FVB02 & FVB03). They now have a charge status button and you can now use the USB-C port to both charge and to power other devices! Ryobi says that their FVCH01 3 Battery Charger is 80% faster than charging with the USB-C cable (It's not!). It is faster though. Unfortunately you need AC to use it. Not sure if you consodered the p3320 fan w/ a 110v a/c male plug coupled into a standard 18v dc female battery socket. It seems like it'd be less work & cost

      Several RYOBI tools allow you to plug them into 120VAC. They do not charge the battery. They just convert the VAC to DC of the appropriate voltage. They are typically low power devices. I suppose you open the fan up and tap into the converted AC. The fan would then have to have another cord with the male battery end. I don't have that fan, but I do have an LED light that takes batteries and AC. I'll have to take a look!

    How is the propane supply metered depending on the load of the generator? From what I see, it is not - it's just running the same amount of fuel regardless of the load on the generator. Also, what mechanism exists to ensure the flow of gas is turned off when the generator stops? Who would be ignorant enough to think that doing it this way this is a good idea?

    This battery platform seems perfect for modifying small tools that originally ran on nicad batteries. Although it's definitely cheaper to buy cells and a charging board separately, these are an off-the-shelf option. Have you tested enough to know if these batteries also have low voltage protection built in?

    If your bms is rated for 30 amps out you should be able to charge more than 2 amps in... I imagine 5 amps would still be safe . Just monitor the heat to be sure . As far as the old battery goes ... some batteries and some chargers have propriety connections . They ensure that you are using it for their product and no one else's . Or it might be requiring a voltage range (39v - 53v) before turning on ? Good luck . (I'm also experimenting with my ebike batteries .)

    Absolutely love this. Think we may be able to update it a little? I have some questions. So 2x12v solar panel in series is 24v. Ok. Good so far. 24v going into MPPT charge controller. Ok. MPPT set to give batteries 21v? And MPPT set to output solar panel voltage/ 24v? Why not use 24vdc inverter instead of going from 24vdc to 12vdc to 120vac? Also most of the usb QC and PD outlets will accept 24vdc so that would be 2 things to take off of the dc-dc converter. I have fed some of my 24vdc outlets 6s lithium (25.2vdc) with no issues. Just curious as I am about to build one of these things myself. Would you change/ do anything different if you had to build one of these today?

      solar electric panels don't give you much power. A 100W panel in the winter full sun would give you about 500Wh a day. You would be better off using solar evaculated tube to heat water. They are more efficient. I've done tests with powerstations running small electric heaters off RYOBI batteries. They don't last long.

    Have you done a disassembly of the various Ryobi 4v battery packs tested? It would be interesting to see what is actually inside. Your videos are so interesting that kind of wish I hadn't already standardized on other battery platforms. It is intensely annoying that every power tool brand locks a person into their "system". This is even true when the same company owns multiple brands. TTI, for example, owns Ryobi (in the US), Milwaukee, Hart, AEG, Hoover, Oreck, Homelite and more. All of these brands sell battery powered tools/equipment .... and each one uses unique batteries. As a counter example, Makita seems to be one of the few power tool companies which sells everything under one brand name and, at a given voltage, has only one battery pack design.
