  • We ordered a 2023 RAM Promaster 159WB High Top van with a factory hitch. Unfortunately RAM doesn't provide a factory installed interface connector for installing an aftermarket brake controller.
    I did find a PDF document discussing installing a brake controller ( www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder... )
    I decided to go with a REDARC Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller since it can be hidden and controlled by a small dash switch
    Things I used:
    * REDARC brake controller ( amzn.to/3OFT1uw )
    * Lever nuts ( amzn.to/3qHOnEf )
    * Wire loom tubing ( amzn.to/3QRlaBC )
    * 12GA stranded automotive wire ( amzn.to/3KSYq0m )
    * Wire Stripper ( amzn.to/3YMOTNP )
    * Wire Crimper ( amzn.to/3OKBelX )

    I have a 2023 Promaster, same as yours. It's hideous that Ram doesn't install a brake controller for units with the hitch. My 2021 Ram 1500 pick up had a hitch but no brake controller but at least with that one, the dealer was able to install a factory brake controller for about $275, including the cost of the part. My TRX has the entire tow package so it has the brake controller already installed. WHY OH WHY didn't Ram do this same thing for this vehicle I do not know. But literally no excuse for it. Now I have to deal with this. My trailer is a 20-foot enclosed unit I use for my moving business so I have to get a brake controller -- otherwise, i'll be going through sets of brakes left and right. Not to mention the trailer brakes need to work to reduce the stopping distance, especially when the trailer is loaded. Great truck, but this is terrible service on Ram's part. Thank you sincerely for this video.
