I found the exact cooler this is a rebrand of: the Alpicool MT25. Alpicool sells adapters to use Milwaukee, Makita, and Dewalt batteries. It's about $300; the Ryobi markup is outrageous. If someone could make a 3d print file to adapt Ryobi batteries to the Alpicool version, that would be awesome.
@MOWO Media I doubt they will sell one officially (I would bet they aren't allowed to with the Ryobi deal), so it will take some crafty good samaritan to make one lol.
Great review. I have wanted one since I first saw the plans for the design. I like the idea of not having to take ice along but for the price of $500.00 I think it's a bit high.
@@ethananderson1682800.00 right now. 38L vs 24L. Ice maker vs no ice maker. Has direct solar input. Has dual zones instead of one. Use an app for control vs nothing for this one. Battery included for 40 hours of run time. By the time you buy batteries with this it will be over 600. 800 is still a lot of money but it at least has a lot more features than this thing does. Oh sorry it also has 100watt usb c for laptop charging and other devices.
Great review. The problem with tall bottles around the inside edge hitting the lid is common on all of these coolers. It's a shame that when connected to AC power it doesn't charge the batteries. It's also sad that they used the hard-to-find power plug common on many of these DC cooler/freezers, but I suppose there are so many in use now that they would have gotten flack for using something else. I think I will stick with my F40C4TMP which runs just fine from the 18V batteries with a buck converter or the Ryobi DC power adapter like you demonstrated. Thanks for laying out the cash and sharing with everyone.
5 bills? Wow, I bought the 36qt old bodega, for $280 and that includes tax! 5 yr warranty… I get what ryobi is trying to do, too small of a cooler area, this thing will have to get down to the $250 range to be successful imo
Ok but 4 hours at 35 degrees in direct sun at 85 with 1 battery is AMAZING. so 2 batteries at 45 degrees in the shade should easily last a work day. The weight kinda makes it tough for construction workers to add to there personal arsenal. But a crew with it added to the decor of a truck and a dedicated extension cord seems totally worth it
I wish it had 4 wheels instead, however I could place it in my cart/wagon. If I were in an emergency situation then I would place the cooler underground and insulate it so it could use the 54F ground temperature to extend the batteries.
Because they made it to run on about 14v so it can be powered by the battery and the car without having to convert the power. If it ran on 40v they would have to put more electronics to make the step down. They where already going to have to do a converter brick for the household power either way. Ryobi only markets the 40v line only as outdoor power tools such as lawn care and the 18v line is for everything.
@@1LowSeventy3 I didn't say anything about size being a problem. Also not sure how they would add in a "small board" without adding extra stuff as you put it. There is also inherit loss in converting the power instead of using equipment rated for 40v. I would think it boils down to them making a choice to support the much much larger 18v line instead of the smaller more geared to outdoor power equipment 40v line.
For $500 it had better be coming with one of those 9Ah batteries and the ability to recharge them in-place. It's nifty, but it's missing far too much functionality to be cost effective at this price point.

Worx sell a rebrand of this in the UK. Currently on sale in their ebay uk store for £143. Around 7 days left on offer. Looks identical to me. That one doesnt come with batteries either. I get my Worx batteries from buying their powertools in their ebay sales that they seem to have every 2 or 3 months, much cheaper than buying the batteries on their own.
my home depot website doesnt even mention the cooler. when i type in ryobi one plus cooler they show me fans. how do i get one?? terrible marketing. i like your review though
Google it and the link should pop up for the Home Depot. They sell out quick though. Check in everyday and you'll find it. Home Depot search tool is terrible and doesn't show you all the products they have available. I bought one and although the price is high it was a no brainier because I work out of my truck and I am heavily invested in Ryobi. I have like 20 batteries so I'll never run out of juice.
You know for $150 a battery and only getting 180wh. Your better off buying a 12v lithium 100 ah for $320. Then at that point you would probably go for 12volt cooler at half that price.
500 with no batteries is a complete rip off. There are other options cheaper with batteries and also options that cost the same with batteries and have a bigger cooler part! Don’t buy this ripoff!
The original is an Alpicool MT25. It costs $290. The only difference is the color and it is not set up for Ryobi batteries (they sell adapters for like four other brands just not Ryobi)
It's the price you pay when you have invested heavily in their battery platform. While I agree with your assessment I can't go with another brand because I have like 20 batteries that are Ryobi. It would be silly to get into another platform.
This is just a reskinned Alpicool MT25, which costs $290. Ryobi is charging an over 40% mark-up for a color change and slightly differently shaped plastic in the battery bay.
This Ryobi cooler is a copy of Worx cooler that has been out for six months or more plus the Works is better and cheaper come on Ryobi stop copying over brands worx had this first sorry.
Honestly straight to the point answered every question I had, one of the best reviews I've seen on any product
i suggested this to them about 5 yrs ago. also a 40volt one. glad to see its out.
Best review I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you

Top notch videos with in-depth reviews. I appreciate you, sir. Keep them coming.
Thanks Chris !! I use a a simler fridge with the ryobi inverter

They used the same plug because it's just a rebadged Alpicool
What's the battery life using your Ryobi batteries/converter?
Very good review, great video! Thanks!

The Alpicool model it's rebadged from is $300 lol
Consumers seem to think otherwise. They're constantly sold out at Home Depot and they restock about 80 at a time and they disappear within 24 hours.
How did it cool???
The battery cut-off voltage setting (at least medium and high) would be useful if you were using a LiFePO4 battery for your source.
I'll wait for this to show up in a future DTO 40% off sale. 😆
$500!?!? Does it at least come with batteries or is it bare tool? Ryobi have lost their minds.
just bare tool
It's a rebranded Alpicool model that is usually $300. A little markup would be okay but $200 is insane
And a 2pack of 9ah batteries is over $300 ! Woh.
Yeti sells plenty of traditional coolers for this price, so I don't think this is too crazy.
At 5 min and 39 seconds you say it shows in F how do you change to Celsius?

Question so when did Ryobi go to Home Lite to make there product
In the USA Home Depot sells the Ryobi brand
I wish it had 4 wheels instead, however I could place it in my cart/wagon. If I were in an emergency situation then I would place the cooler underground and insulate it so it could use the 54F ground temperature to extend the batteries.

When batteries are installed and you are running off of AC wall power.... does it charge the batteries?
no

@Capitan Dart a step down is the size of a small board. I don't see how this would impact it size wise or add extra stuff.

Great review and looks like a great product but $500 for a portable fridge? Ryobi is reaching.
Nice job. Thanks
Does it charge the ryobi batteries when plugged into 12volt or 240volt power?
no

The original Alpicool version is $300, you are paying $200 for a different color and a piece of plastic in the battery compartment
For the size of the cooler it should be around 300

Amazing!
I can't find the dimensions anywhere. I searched the entire internet but unfortunately. who knows or can say exactly.
One of the pictures on their website: www.ryobitools.com/products/details/46396043542 says it's 13.5" x 25" x 17.5"
Does this charge the batteries when it is plugged in?
no
That would be nice. Without that feature, pass
I have BougeRV, Norcold, Gosun, Dometic, Whynter, and Iceco, and the Iceco is the best.
Yes I like my iceco too
sounds like a solid, well insulated product. Shame it's probably about 20% too pricey.
Try 42% too pricy, the original non-Ryobi version costs $290 lol
Thanks for this interesting video. Does anyone know if they make a UK/EU version (240Volts)?
The power brick says it will take 100-240V 50/60Hz...but it has a US plug on it. You could change the plug Check video at 2:39 miinutes.
They used too, that’s where I first saw it was on the Ryobi Australian site.
