  • For this episode, I unbox and review the beautifully elegant Tissot Heritage Petite Seconde. I happen to love the rich history and heritage beyond this piece and glad that Tissot has it in it's lineup. Very cool with the mechanical aspect (hand-wind). I consider this watch to be a silent beauty. Tissot is the largest brand purchsed by the Swiss themselves. A great brand that is owned by Swatch which are some of the best innovators in the industry. Enjoy! Please like and subscribe and ask any questions you'd like in the comment section below. Love to start some dialogues. Got a few more very coo videos on the way so be sure to like and subscribe to be the first to be notified when they are available. Feel free to check out my other videos on a few other amazing watches.

Very nice watch for sure. I can advise, there is no slip clutch in this watch(no reason for one). What you were pointing to in the vid was the click which has a different function. Also very little chance of breaking anything or over-winding. As long as you stoo when you feel resistance, as you mentioned, will be fine. I'm a watchmaker, just thought worth added comment as you were discussing the movement. Could I suggest, befriend a local good watchmaker who can explain a bit more? Nice camerawork in the vid :)

Thanks for the review! I ended up picking this one up for myself. Great piece overall!
BTW, you might want to try wearing your watch higher up on your wrist, above the "knuckle" bone where your wrist meets your arm. You might find that it's a lot for comfortable and gives your hand a lot more range of motion, in addition to putting less wear on the band and crown themselves. Cheers!

mate 5ATM (or 50 meters) water resistance doesn't mean its supposed to go 50 meters deep. It has to do with pressure. Please don't misinform people. and DO NOT dive or snorkel with this watch.
30 meters water resistance - only splash resistant, maybe a very gentle dip
50 meters - light swim or shower (not steam)
100 meters - swim and snorkel (usually on sports watches)
200 meters and up - good for diving
higher water resistance also shows how robust the watch is
otherwise its a good review, thanks!

Do you know how far the recreational diver goes down even? I'm not misinforming anyone. I know exactly what I'm talking about. The watch community is very misinformed with water resistance. You want to call me out, do it on a RUclips video. I'd be glad to get into a good debate with you.

Jared Sharpe We are fully aware of the depth of divers. But he is right. It is not related to depth. Rule of thumb is to never dive or swim with watches under 10 ATM. There are countless other videos further explaining this (by some of the biggest names in horology). I have heard too many stories of people getting this fact wrong and having their 5 ATM watches bust in a swimming pool. I can add a link that explains this very good.

@@Oet03 to each their own! You can easily swim with a 5atm watch and for recreational scuba, i would have no problem taking it with me. If the crown is firmly into the case AND I've had it pressure tested before I went-no problem at all ladies and gentleman! I get it's about pressure and not depth. 5atm is still very sufficient enough for any splashes, shower, snorkeling, swimming, or recreational scuba no problem. I firmly stand behind that. Just my opinion though.

Sorry, but you are wrong. Theoretically, no you can't swim nor dive with this watch. That is because the pressure watchmakers advertise as the can withstand, is static. And when you move around, the pressure around the watch is changed dramatically. Plus this watch sits on a leather strap. So yeah, I wouldn't suggest swimming with this watch. It would not be smart (no offense, just wanted to tell you how it is and hopefully "future proof" you:)

@@oscarschiff9180 hey Oscar. It's an ETA movement-pretty good standard work horse movements from the Swatch Group that are durable and easily serviced. Of course nothing special but pretty well decorated. Not great value for the money. You need to buy a watch and wear it/enjoy it and know it ain't going up in value. This particular model doesn't hack so you cant tell exact accuracy. Seems to keep very good time. For a modern hand wind, not bad at all. Very classic look.

However, the display back on the Parnis is a little nicer. I think the Chinese Seagull movement originally came from an out of business American pocket watch manufacturer. Good video. Thanks.

This is hilarious...great watch and review, but you might want to do a little research on how mechanical watches work before trying to describe them, or even just the basics of mechanical engineering...they're not barrels, they're gears or in watchmaking they're called wheels...those that you pointed to are called the ratchet wheel and the crown wheel abd they are fir winding the watch, not "storing energy". What stores energy is a spring, which is what you are winging abd that is in what is called a barrel, which is under those wheels you pointed out. Also that part you pointed to thinking it's a "slip clutch", is called the click wheel, and that keeps the spring from unwinding completely and is what produces the click sound when wound...it does not have slip clutch mechanism that prevents "overwinding" which is technically not what happens, but anyway there is a point when you can't wind it anymore and I guess you just didn't wind I enough to get there...anyway nice watch, appreciate the video and shout out to Tissot, a great sorta overlooked swiss brand with alot of history.. love that it this watch has the classic 6498, which was originally designed for pocket watches abd can also be found in much more expensive watches such as Panerai and IWC

  • @chickenporkadob0

    What is Water Resistance?
Every watch is designed differently and the individual design of each watch determines how resistant to water pressure that watch is. You should always check the water resistance measure of a watch before using it, so you can decide when to wear it and when to take it off.
    What is the ATM?
The ATM of a watch is short for Atmospheres and is a measure of the level of water pressure a watch is designed to withhold. A higher ATM means that a watch can withhold more water pressure, whilst a lower ATM mean that it was designed to withstand less pressure.
    Metres: A Common Misconception
The ATM or water resistance of a watch can also be expressed as a number of metres, such as 10 metres. This does not mean that a watch can be taken 10 metres below sea level - although that is a common misconception. It is simply the number of times the pressure at sea level a watch can withstand without letting water in. For example, a watch with an ATM of 1 can withstand 10m of pressure, whilst a watch with an ATM of 5 can withstand 50m of pressure.
    Using Your Watch in Water
The ATM of your watch will allow you to determine how and where you can use your watch. The ATM is usually engraved on the case-back of every watch. If you're having trouble finding it you may need to visit the watch manufacturer's website or contact them directly. You can use the chart below to guide you on using your watch in water. For example, if your watch has an ATM of 5, you can safely use it when you're washing hands and if it's raining outside, but you should not take it showering, swimming or diving.
Swimming and Showering With Your Watch
The Watch Factory recommends purchasing a watch of at least 20ATM if you wish to wear your watch whilst swimming or showering. Wearing a watch with a lower ATM whilst swimming or showering may not always damage the watch, however we urge on the side of caution due to the delicate nature of watches.
    Water Getting Into Your Watch
The internal mechanisms that keep your watch ticking are protected from water by the case, crown and seals that prevent water from getting in. Damage to any of these parts of your watch may void your watch's water resistance and cause moisture to get in. A common issue is when the crown has come loose and the seal has been damaged, which allows moisture to get in. If you believe that there is any damage to your watch, it is best to get it assessed by a watch maker who can check the water resistance is intact
