I've never heard of Colin McRae til this vid was suggested to me cuz I was watchin the Lancia 037 beat up on the Audi Quattro, and omfg could this McRae dude wheel a car or what?! @4:15 is some of the best wheel control I've ever seen on a rally vid, he's incredible....
This is what I call proper driving and car control. Never mind posing in Merkin muscle cars or pissing about on a drag-strip or pointlessly drifting in front of 'style judges' and a crowd of whooping morons with camera phones. 🙃

Its a normal sequential box but its also Pneumatic or hydraulicly actuated by paddles on the wheel. The reasoning behind it being... they can simply revert to normal sequential changes if the paddle shift system goes faulty... which did happen.

Markku Allen and Henri Toivonen were faster and smoother. Walter Rohrl has better technique and ability. Michelle Moulton was a girl and she was Faster than this. Colin could chuck a car about, no doubt, but he wasn’t the god that all these fanboy youngsters think he was

Nope I think the pace notes were wrong at that point. I think you can hear the co-driver staying something to that effect.
The pacenotes were wrong because he went too far ahead lol, hence why he turns back a page and repeats the earlier notes
