You didn’t cover high value comics. For comics valued over $3,000 CGC wants to charge 3% of market value. I can’t find anyone discussing how wrong this is. Why does the grading company get to take a cut of the value of the comic. I feel this is BS because now CGC has a say so if the value of the comic when they should only have a say so in the grade. What do they base the 3% fee off of, the Overstreet Guide? I’m considering going with a different comic grading company because I don’t like how CGC is monopolizing the high end market (above $3k).
Wrong? It’s an optional service. You decided to submit or not. Put another way, no one is forcing you to grade your comics. CGC isn’t the only company that does this if you take a few moments to think. The value sharing, let’s call it, is built into the tiers themselves. You just see it with high value books because they call it out. You can go to CBCS but they also do it. High value things are almost always “taxed” a little more. Try registering a nice car in certain states-you actually pay more than someone registering a cheaper car. People with more income get taxed more. Have a bigger house, you pay more for everything. Hope this helps.
Have you stopped to consider why grading companies for example charge more for these high value books? Could it be that their costs are higher for higher value books so they charge more? For example, the liability associated with a $30 book and a $3000 book are very different. If something goes wrong with a book in the possession of a grading company they have insurance to cover it. This insurance isn’t free therefore they charge more for those higher value books. Now imagine having thousands of $3000+ books at the same time. Their could also be other reasons but this is the one that readily comes to mind pre-coffee. 😀👊🏾
@@RegieCollects your mixing concepts that aren’t the same. When I get a home appraised for sale do I pay the person appraising it a percentage of its value? No I don’t. The liability while CGC has the comic is the only aspect that has relevance that I can possibly see a reason for the percentage.
Well actually you’re incorrect. Home appraisers actually charge different rates based upon the size and complexity of a home that is being evaluated. It is not based upon the value of the house but more expensive houses tend to be larger and more complex-so maybe it is connected. 😃 I’ve taken a couple of real estate and appraiser courses. I’ve also owned about 15 homes. With that said, let’s dig deeper. A home appraisal is an assessment of value based upon comparison properties. The appraisal itself adds zero value to the property unlike a grade assigned to a comic. When a third party grading company inspects a comic and gives it a grade, that grade translates into value. Look at the prices between raw and graded comics. No such value increase is seen when looking at homes. Lastly an appraiser isn’t guaranteeing anything unlike CGC. The keyword is guaranty in the name. They are literally guaranteeing that the books grade, condition is what they say. And, as mentioned this is part of the reason for the higher prices.
I cited the examples of cars and houses to paint the picture of things that I don’t understand unlike CGC charging higher rates for expensive comics. An expensive comic has more risk so they charge more. I don’t like it but I get it. An expensive car however does not damage a road any more than a cheaper car. Hope this helps.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. VERY informative. Yikes! I had no idea it cost THIS much to submit as I have never done it before..and it looks like I won't be starting anytime soon.
Sometimes it’s a good thing like some keys you might randomly find in a dollar bin then spend 30-40 and get it graded and cased and it be worth hundreds. I think it’s maybe better for people that want to resell them
Today I submitted 5 comics to cgc for the first time thanks to Reggies videos. I used the associate link from Reggie to score the discounted membership. Thanks Reggie. I hope my comics are graded higher than expected.
I hope this video helps a little. Hopefully, you saw the flags in the video for the other content that I've created around this topic of submission. Let me know if you have additional questions. Happy to help.
@@iamnoone5614 Thank you for asking, no, but I have bought books already slabbed. I wonder though, if it is cheaper to send out or buy the book already slabbed? If you have any other questions, Regie has an Instagram account that you can ask him questions😁
Mad respect.... I thought I was the only bodybuilder/comic book/ action figure collector in the world. You are supper Talented, and create genuine content.keep up the good work. And good for you realizing there is a world outside of this selfish unhealthy sport.
The crazy thing is that I thought the same thing. :-) I've been surprised just how many comic guys love the iron. I'm glad that you found the channel. And, thank you for the kind words. Please let me know if you need anything.
This is a great overview. Take a lesson from me, if your going to take the time/money to submit the book for slabing ALWAYS get your books pressed. I can’t emphasize this enough. Get the best grade. You can also submit nots to say things like “if this book isn’t at least x grade, don’t grade”. Some books are better off not getting a grade if your going to resell.
Does the quick press recommendation also apply to brand new, never handled comic books? I have several virgin cover variants that I haven't cracked open the plastic on and plan to get them graded. Wondering if it is still worth it then. Thanks in advance.
Thanks man! This is exactly what I mentioned to you. I will eventually follow these steps and make the plunge and send a few books out. Now I can see how that works.
Just found your videos and love the information and presentation. I subscribed. Now I need to go back and watch your other videos. Thanks for being a great party of the comic community!
B RaYmE Thank you very much. Glad that you are enjoying the content. Hopefully enough to smash that subscriber button. 😂 We’re doing trivia night so try to swing back in an hour!!!
You are welcome. There are about a half dozen more videos on the submission process: what to submit, how to submit, declared value, estimating value, shipping and more. 👊🏾
Regie!! Thanks so much for this man, super thorough I have several comics I would like to have pressed now after going through them last night. You gave the best explanation for how to start the process, thanks again man! I'll be watching your other videos as well!
You are very welcome. This video is a little old as CGC has updated the website and process a few times. With that said, a lot of what’s covered in this video is still applicable. I have a few other videos that look at the dollars & cents if submissions, how to ship books, etc. I also have three interviews with CGC on the channel talking about various aspects of pressing, grading, etc. If you can’t find what you’re looking for please let me know. Also, if you’re thinking about getting a CGC membership please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my videos.
I never submitted any books for grading. Always wanted to, but just so confused about the whole procedure. Before you even got through explaining what this video is about, I already like and subscribed lol.
Lol. That’s awesome. Thanks bro. I actually have several videos on the channel dedicated to the CGC process. Everything from the step by step to deciding what to submit to understanding declared value to shipping your books. Here is a playlist that may help you. Please let me know if you need anything: ruclips.net/p/PL_EXlz0p26tWCO8ES2MZf3n5shgXMBgu5 Also, when you are ready to submit please consider using the affiliate link for CGC in the description of my videos.
Thanks bud. I appreciate it. Be sure to check out all the other videos that I have on this topic including using value to determine which books to send, shipping tips, etc.
This was a great video. Thanks for taking the time. Think I'll just keep taking my books over to my LCS to submit for me because, let's be honest, I am fundamentally lazy.
@@RegieCollects I will definitely go with the clean/press as per your recommendation. I haven't purchased membership yet because I'm not sure how often I would use the service tbh. It's the first time I've considered grading one of my books!
@@RegieCollects My LCS doesn't ever sell slabbed books so I doubt they have a membership lol. Also don't have any friends heavy into comics so I may just get my own membership. I have a fairly small collection as I just started collecting 3 or 4 years ago so I don't have a lot of books at this point that I want to slab. Just enjoying learning about it all and hunting for deals!
LukeNewb Ah ok. Got it. I typically recommend people go with the premiere membership. It’s $150 but you get a credit on the account for that same amount which makes it free in my mind. Or, if you’re submitting modern books for grading/pressing you can get ~5 books encapsulated for free. The membership also is for a year. I’m pretty sure that you’ll find a way to purchase and slab more books during that time. If you decide to do it, consider using the link in the description. With that said, it’s your money and your collection so do what you feel is right! 👍🏾👍🏾
Glad you found the video helpful. I’m not sure that CGC is expensive versus grading itself being expensive. There are less expensive options like PGX and EGS but they may not provide you with the same type of value lift that you would get with CGC or CBCS. You also have the option of keeping your book in poly. You don’t have to get them graded at all. It’s totally optional.
Thank you for this. Have two books I would like slabbed. All the others were purchased slabbed so this is a new experience. I’m already a CGC member. I heard you mention a video on which books should be slabbed. Also I need to find your video on packaging.
You are welcome. If you don’t have a CGC membership yet, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my various videos when you sign up.
Great video as always... It was a thorough explanation of the process which I truly appreciate. I may start with 1 or 2 comics that I believe are of high value just a start . Unfortunately the comics that I will send are not duplicate like what you have. Thanks to your video I am very excited to start this process.
Nice nice. Glad you found it helpful my man. Good luck with the grades. The crazy thing is that I started 2018 with virtually no keys. This year has been amazing for my collection.
I only know one way of doing things. Lol. If you have other questions just let me know. It’s best to hit me on IG. As more videos are released it’s harder to find the follow up questions. Be well.
It's hard to say without knowing the grade of your book. A 9.8 is worth about $250, a 9.0 is worth $50 (at most) but an 8.0 is only worth $35. If your book is a 9.0 or less it may not be worth it from a dollars and cents standpoint. Now, if the book has some sentimental value that's a different story. I hope this helps.
Got it. At that grade your shipping, pressing and cleaning costs will be more than what the book is worth. From a dollars and cents point of view, grading might not be the best approach. If you have sentimental attachment to the book that’s a different story.
With respect to filling out the declared value, you wrote $5 for the ASM 800. I just submitted my first books at the Rhode Island Comic Con and they told me I should max the declared value to the highest amount the insurance covers for modern books which was $200. There was no difference in cost. Also, do you have to have a specific membership to track the status of your comic books? Can free members do this as well? TIA.
Thanks for the comment Ryan. The declared value I entered was just a placeholder for illustrative purposes only. Did they explain why you max out the declared value? I’d like to understand their rationale. I have the Premium membership so I’m not sure what the free offers you. You may have to call to verify with them.
Good stuff bro. There are a few more on the channel that help with declared value, what to submit based upon value, shipping, etc. Let me know if you can’t find them. Also, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my various videos. CGC gives the channel a few bucks for the referral.
Thank you for the kind words bro. Glad the video was helpful. Please let me know if you have other questions. I have a series of videos on the various steps of the process: declared value, what to send and why, shipping, etc. Good luck!
Does the options about higher valued books matter? I have 2 Spiderman #129's and assume they are worth more than $5. Will the grading be different depending on what I put the value is? Thanks for the vide, super informative for someone newer at this
The grading is unaffected. It is best to think about declared value as insurance. Here is a video that provides details: ruclips.net/video/wEKkhKOnJIw/видео.html If you decide to get your membership make sure you check out my shipping video and please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my videos.
Well, I have a video on that. 😜 The long and short is that you have to guesstimate the grade and you can look up the value using a pricing guide. The best way to think about declared value is to thing about it in term of insurance. How much will it cost you to replace that book if lost or damaged. Here is the video that will help: ruclips.net/video/wEKkhKOnJIw/видео.html
I try. There are a few videos on the channel that examine other aspects of submission (eg declared value, shipping, insurance, etc). There is also an updated version of this submission video as well. 👊🏾
Thanks bud. The credit is yearly. And, this year they gave 20% off for renewing. It was a sweet deal. If you decide to pull the trigger, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my videos. CGC gives a few bucks to the channel and I give it back when I send my books for grading. Lol. Let me know if you have additional questions.

I have other videos that look at declared value, which books to submit, how to ship, etc. I’ll try to drop on a link for the playlist. If you decide to signed up, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my various videos.
The best way to think about it is the form of replacement costs. How much would that book cost to replace? For example, if I paid $0.12 for FF48 that’s not the price that I would put down versus the estimated graded value of my comic. Does this make sense? ruclips.net/video/wEKkhKOnJIw/видео.html
This was a great step-by-step on "how to submit to CGC" I'm actually getting ready to send some books off to CGC and it's my first time, so after watching this video I know a lot more about how the process works. Thanks Regie. Much appreciated. Cheers,
Thanks bud. If you get a chance, check out the video on how to package books up for mailing as well. I also did a follow up video where I talk about declare value which I may not have addressed fully in the step-by-step. Let me know if you can't find these videos. Do you already have your membership?
Question??? In regards to comic book value, who does CGC use? I’m not too familiar with CGC other than being a company that is the go to grading company. Example) I own a copy of Ultimate Fallout #4 1:25, comicpriceguide.com has it listed at $15, where key collector has it at $460.
CGC uses GPA Analysis to value books. I personally prefer GoCollect for graded books and ComicsPriceGuide.com for raw books. Key Collector app is fantastic but is not a pricing guide and should not be used for pricing. They basically provide a rolling average of prices from eBay. Pricing guides are updated almost daily if not several times a day. If you want to hear more from CGC check out this interview that I did with them: ruclips.net/video/Q0VMjfc2O8E/видео.html I also have interviews with ComicsPriceGuide and other price guides on the channel as well. Just check out the Interview playlist.
This video is more than a year old. CGC has made some changes to various features. I believe that they have factors the books market value into the pricing structure that has been put into place. I did an updated version of this video a few weeks ago but it was a live show and the streams quality was really bad. At the end of the day, once you have a membership, you can log into the portal and mock-up an order to see for yourself what it will cost to have a book graded by CGC. Please let me know if you have any outstanding questions.
Are you asking why I selected it in the video where I did, it's because I am trying to demonstrate the functionality of the website. If I had not selected it up front I would have been unable to demonstrate that service without back tracking to the very start of the submission process. I hope that helps.
Bob World Good stuff bud. Thank for watching the video. There are a few more that go over other aspects of submission (what books to pick, mailing books, etc.).
A barcode means the comic is a newsstand. Anything else is direct meaning that the book was sold via a local comic shop. If you search RUclips for: “regie collects newsstand” you can find an entire video on the topic.
Great video thank you for doing this... where I get confused is what grading tier do I use? as some of my comics are rated at different prices (depends on which price guide) or borderline of cgc range ....
You are welcome. The tier is determined by the age of the comic and the speed of service. The portal guides you through your options based upon the book and selections that you make. It’s pretty streamlined.
You are welcome. This video is slightly old but it makes things a little more simple. If you have more questions let me know because I have videos on declarer value, what to submit, how to ship, etc.
I have an Amazing Spider-Man #583 (Obama Variant) 1st print signed by Stan Lee but not graded. My question is in regards to COA. Since I have the COA, does that get included with the book inside the slab (maybe on the back cover or is kept separate) and would I send the COA in with the book during the grading process? Hope that made sense. Great video!
I don’t understand your first question. Sorry. Cost is based upon the tier of book and services selected. That information can be found on the CGC website: www.cgccomics.com/submit/services-fees/cgc-grading/
@@RegieCollects what I mean with my first question is where could I buy short box ( comic box) just plane white??? Because my local comic shop only has marvel and DC short boxes but I just want to get white . So do you know a place ore site where I could buy some ???
Hey Regie, new subscriber, like your videos. In the video I saw that the tier/cost depends on the value of the books, under $200, $1000, etc. 2 questions, which tier do you use if the book is on the fence but you dont know what grade it's going to get. For example a 6.0 will push it over $200 but a 5.5 will be under $200. Second question is how is value determined for those books on the fence. A book at a certain grade in the $200 range will likely sell in the $175 to $225 area. Thanks!
Welcome to the channel. Thanks for the questions. Let's see if I can answer them... To determine the value/tier is guestimation. If I have time, I’ll look at graded books on eBay. I’ll try to compare the condition of my book to one that is already graded. The zoom feature really helps with this comparison. There is no guarantee but you might be able to learn a few things. If you’re look at the different between a 5.5 and 6.0 I’m not sure that this will help because the differences can be minor. Remember that grading is a little subjective. To figure out if you want to send the book or not, you can look at both tiers-the high and the low-to get a feel. Or, you can just look at the low because if the numbers make sense there they will absolutely make sense with the higher value of the book. For books on the fence, you might want to look at all costs: shipping, tax, etc. to determine if it makes more sense to slab or to buy slabbed. Also, how long will you hold the book? Is there a chance that you can get the book for a best offer at a lower price? If the numbers are really close it’s going to be a judgment call. Does this help? Or, did I miss the mark? Let me know.
Cgc has processes in place to isolate your books from others. With that said, I have heard about at least one mistake being made and it was corrected. On that note, you should always take photos and video of your book when they are outside of your control.
It’s based upon the age of the book. 1956 - 1969 is generally considered the silver age. Look inside the front cover of the book where the credits are for when it was printed.
Thank you so much for making this ypu a lofe safer lol. Been searching around for infor about this but funny all the comic vidoe on youtube no one explain this , bc im not sure about the 149 dollar credit untile u explain it. But one question if you get the 149 dollar credit do u have to spend it all ay once or u can spend it little at a time
I assume that the credit will remain on your account until you have drawn the balance to zero. I would ask CGC the question to be certain but I think it’s a safe assumption. You are very welcome for the video.
Another great video! Knowing about the turn-around times and how to bundle really helps! Getting ready to submit my first group this week. Question, probably a silly one, but when does the 10% discount hit and also does it apply to the pressing services or just the slabbing? Thank you!
If you did the premiere membership that credit is automatically applied by the accounting team before your card is charged. The 10% discount may be applied automatically when you’re in the portal looking at the estimated prices. I believe that it is only on grading. CGC recently made some changes to prices and portal and I haven’t been able to look into it all. You may actually see “discounted” prices reflected in the video because I may have been logged in when I did those screen grabs. Keep in mind that what you see in the portal is an estimate. The true price will be determined once CGC gets your books and looks them over. Does this help?
You are welcome brother. One of the changes that CGC seems to have made is that pressing isn’t a flat fee anymore. It appears to be based upon the age of the book. My recent submission is was more expensive because of this change. Please let me know if you need anything as you work through the process.
The quick press has a 15 book minimum whereas the full press does not have a minimum. Just pick the full press option and you should be good. Do you already have your membership?
Here's a question: if I'm submitting modern comics for their private signing and yellow label, and I want to submit others for the blue label can they be on the same invoice? From you videos I do gather I can say least ship them all together. as long as I create different bricks
Books for the signings must be on their own invoices. Put another way, each artist will need separate invoice because they are different events. Please go to the CGC website and look at the additional requirements for each event (e.g., signature windows, deadlines, etc.). Let me know if you have additional questions.
Yes, if you want to overpay for each book that you have graded you can declare the max value for the tier. The declared value is insurance if something goes wrong while the book is in CGC possession. Put another way, a declared value of $200 on a $10 book would mean that you are buying $190 worth of insurance that you don’t need multipled by the number of books that you are sending. Personal, I declare what the book is worth so as to not waste money. ruclips.net/video/wEKkhKOnJIw/видео.html
You are welcome! If you have other questions let me know. There are a host of videos on the channel related to third party grading. And, if you decide to pull the trigger there is an affiliate link in the description of most videos. 👊🏾
Grading is $20 for a modern book. Shipping depends upon how you ship it to CGC and how you opt to have it shipped back to you. I can’t estimate those costs for you because I don’t know where you live and the shipper you will use. You will have costs for a membership so that should be factored in as well. You should also consider getting the book pressed to improve the grade. Does this help?
When cgc charges you for return shipping i assume they bundle that cost. In other words if i send 15 modern books together all with quick press....so nothing abnormal or different...do theyjust bundle one shipping charge or do they bill you shipping on each separate book?
How do I know if my comic is less than $200? If a press jumps my comic from a 9.6 to a 9.8 that can be a difference of value in $100 or more with many books
You do something called a dirty grade where you guesstimate the grade of the book and thus the value. Do the best that you can, and if you are off big time CGC will make the adjustment. Here is a video on dirty grading: ruclips.net/video/ZM1I0aoZ1bk/видео.html
How do you determine the value of your book? Saw you use gocollect to determine if the book you submit is worth sending but never really understood who to use to determine which tier the book will be
You can use GoCollect to help with graded values. I use ComicsPriceGuide.com for raw book pricing. Tier is determine by the age and of the book. It is also influenced by the speed in which you want the book back. The age is what it is. The value is determined based upon your guesstimation of the grade. The speed is also something you control. It should also be noted that the CGC portal helps to guide you. This video is more than a year old and the portal has been updated a few times. Message me on IG if you want to talk more. If you haven’t secured a CGC membership please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my various videos.
Just subscribed and like this video. I have a question for you if you'd be so kind to answer. I'm still a bit confused on how much cost would be depending on FMV. For example I'm wanting to submit a Tomb of Dracula blade 1st appearance. Let say it grades at an 7 or 8. How will I know how much it will cost for grading because the cost fluctuates per grade? 3.5 off if it's over 1,000 correct? So lets say value is determined at 1,000 would it cost $35 for grading? Also I would pay the extra for pressing. Also I have a batman first appearance of poison ivy I'd like to submit. If I pay $150 for premium. Would the credit apply to cost of getting those two books pressed and graded for me basically pay. Or do you think it would be more than 150 to submit those two books for press and grading? Thanks . Also do they have a phone number or a way to talk to someone to ask questions to? Thanks a ton reg!
I’m away from my computer but your math appears to be correct. I tend to assume that grading will be $35 bucks. Cleaning/pressing are extra and will depend upon the age of the book. CGC changed its pricing for cleaning/pressing since this video was created more than a year ago. When you have an account, you can log into to submit books. The portal will tell you the estimated price based upon what you submit. You will not be charged however until the books are received, processed and worked on by CGC. They basically need to confirm the submission. To this end, they also apply the $150 credit on the backside...meaning that you will not see the credit applied during submission the portal. Accounting applies the credit before charging your card. The credit can only be used for grading not for shipping, cleaning/pressing, etc. The $150 credit is applied each year. CGC has an email address and phone number listed on the website. If you have time, check out this playlist of other CGC submissions related videos. It might help: ruclips.net/p/PL_EXlz0p26tWCO8ES2MZf3n5shgXMBgu5 Lastly if you pull the trigger with CGC, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my various videos. CGC gives a few bucks back to the channel. If you have questions message me.
@@RegieCollects hey man just came across this video and it was great, going to check out some of your other ones as well. Just one question please. If I understood this correctly, it is 18$ per book at checkout, but then they can charge more depending on the grade and i get a surprise on my credit card bill??? If I send in 5 modern books can I expect the grading fees to be 90$ or there's a chance it comes back on my bill higher than that? Thanks man...
Thank you for the video. The shipping section got really confusing. I will rewind and watch again. I do have one question, how do you determine the value of the book? You are asked by CGC to determine the value as part of the submission process. Is that determined by the cover price of the comic?
It’s been a few years since I watched this video but what was confusing about the shipping? Valuation is a tricky one. You can guesstimate the grade of the book and look that grade up in a raw book pricing guide (ComicsPriceGuide.com). Some determine value based upon purchase price, acquisition costs or replacement cost of the comic. You have to decide what makes sense for you. Here is a video that looks at declarer value: ruclips.net/video/wEKkhKOnJIw/видео.html Here is one that looks at how to grade: ruclips.net/video/ZM1I0aoZ1bk/видео.html
Thank you, this helped me very much! I sent off my 30 year old comics to CGC and they came back 9.8, 9.8, 9.8, 9.6 and 9.6!!!!
Wow! That’s fantastic. Congrats bro. And, thank you for coming back to say thanks.
Fingers crossed for you bro. 👊🏾
I finally did it Reggie, I made my first submission to cgc! So excited to see these results, thanks buddy for the informative tutorial videos!

The crazy thing is that I thought the same thing. :-) I've been surprised just how many comic guys love the iron. I'm glad that you found the channel. And, thank you for the kind words. Please let me know if you need anything.
I have overheard many people in the gym talking about comics, definitely awesome to hear. I thought the same thing
Comics and weights two staples in my home too baw

@@RegieCollects I will definitely go with the clean/press as per your recommendation. I haven't purchased membership yet because I'm not sure how often I would use the service tbh. It's the first time I've considered grading one of my books!
@@EpeenKing Ah ok. Got it. Are you planning to submit via an LCS or a friends membership?

Great video!!
This is super helpful.
The website was very confusing. The CGC grading company seems very expensive
@@RegieCollects thank you for making these videos and sharing your experiences and expertise.

Love the break down brother!
i have a 1977 red sonja 1 is that worthy to be sent and slabbed
It's hard to say without knowing the grade of your book. A 9.8 is worth about $250, a 9.0 is worth $50 (at most) but an 8.0 is only worth $35. If your book is a 9.0 or less it may not be worth it from a dollars and cents standpoint. Now, if the book has some sentimental value that's a different story. I hope this helps.
@@RegieCollects I got it for 15 bucks and it looks in pretty good condition 6-7 range perhaps
Got it. At that grade your shipping, pressing and cleaning costs will be more than what the book is worth. From a dollars and cents point of view, grading might not be the best approach. If you have sentimental attachment to the book that’s a different story.
Thank you Reggie I needed this big time!
I got you bro. I have another for deciding which books to send and one for bundling books the CGC way.
@@RegieCollects I appreciate I have some books to get slab and this video help me out
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the helpful video I'm going to submit some books and this video helped clear up my confusion!

Does the options about higher valued books matter? I have 2 Spiderman #129's and assume they are worth more than $5. Will the grading be different depending on what I put the value is? Thanks for the vide, super informative for someone newer at this

How do you know what dollar amount to enter for value of the comicbook... especially if you don't know the grade?
Well, I have a video on that. 😜 The long and short is that you have to guesstimate the grade and you can look up the value using a pricing guide. The best way to think about declared value is to thing about it in term of insurance. How much will it cost you to replace that book if lost or damaged.

Top video, quick question when putting the value is that how much it was purchased for or believed value when submitting.
The best way to think about it is the form of replacement costs. How much would that book cost to replace? For example, if I paid $0.12 for FF48 that’s not the price that I would put down versus the estimated graded value of my comic. Does this make sense?

If you want to hear more from CGC check out this interview that I did with them: ruclips.net/video/Q0VMjfc2O8E/видео.html
I also have interviews with ComicsPriceGuide and other price guides on the channel as well. Just check out the Interview playlist.
Regie Collects thanks for the response. I’ll definitely check those out and the other videos
Love the video - Lays it all out nicely. How does it work when they take the 3% off the market value? Im lost at that point. Tha ks again
Really an informative video, thanks Regie!
Great info but..... if the won't "Quick Press" one single book then why select it in the beginning?
Are you asking why I selected it in the video where I did, it's because I am trying to demonstrate the functionality of the website. If I had not selected it up front I would have been unable to demonstrate that service without back tracking to the very start of the submission process. I hope that helps.
@@RegieCollects yes it does help thank you.
Bob World Good stuff bud. Thank for watching the video. There are a few more that go over other aspects of submission (what books to pick, mailing books, etc.).
I have a question about the Spider-Man 300 you have behind you I have a bar code instead of the spidey face what does that mean ?
A barcode means the comic is a newsstand. Anything else is direct meaning that the book was sold via a local comic shop. If you search RUclips for: “regie collects newsstand” you can find an entire video on the topic.
@@RegieCollects awesome thanks alot! I will definitely check it out
Great video thank you for doing this... where I get confused is what grading tier do I use? as some of my comics are rated at different prices (depends on which price guide) or borderline of cgc range ....
You are welcome.
The tier is determined by the age of the comic and the speed of service. The portal guides you through your options based upon the book and selections that you make. It’s pretty streamlined.
I Don’t understand how to fill out the form for PGX it’s confusing me can you make a video on it it Doesn’t make any sense to me
Sweet thanks for the video Reggie
This helps so much there site is so confusing and frustrating. Thank you.
Great video!
small question where can you get the wite comic book boxes in sted of collor on it or so . and submiting is not cheap
Amazon or BCWSupplies.com
This helps. Thanks. I'm going backwards thru your videos now. Gonna look for your "how to choose which books to submit" video.
Joe Chapa Here is a playlist that may help you: ruclips.net/p/PL_EXlz0p26tUcsqNZS5kdistu7izzgo3l
When you send in comics to be slabbed how does anyone know your getting the same comic back ?
Cgc has processes in place to isolate your books from others. With that said, I have heard about at least one mistake being made and it was corrected.
On that note, you should always take photos and video of your book when they are outside of your control.
How do you know if you have a silver book or anything like that? New to comic collecting & want to start grading .. please help 🙏🏻
It’s based upon the age of the book.
1956 - 1969 is generally considered the silver age. Look inside the front cover of the book where the credits are for when it was printed.
@@RegieCollects I never opened the comic from the seal I bought it in to keep it as clean as I can.
Thanks for this video
Thank you so much for making this ypu a lofe safer lol. Been searching around for infor about this but funny all the comic vidoe on youtube no one explain this , bc im not sure about the 149 dollar credit untile u explain it. But one question if you get the 149 dollar credit do u have to spend it all ay once or u can spend it little at a time
I assume that the credit will remain on your account until you have drawn the balance to zero. I would ask CGC the question to be certain but I think it’s a safe assumption. You are very welcome for the video.
Great informative vid
@@RegieCollects absolutely! Thanks Regie!
You are welcome brother. One of the changes that CGC seems to have made is that pressing isn’t a flat fee anymore. It appears to be based upon the age of the book. My recent submission is was more expensive because of this change.
Please let me know if you need anything as you work through the process.
what if i only am sending 3 books and 2 of those need a press? can i not get individual books pressed without having 15 sent for pressing?
The quick press has a 15 book minimum whereas the full press does not have a minimum. Just pick the full press option and you should be good.
Do you already have your membership?
@@RegieCollects Thank you Regie, keep up the great work
I also was wondering if my first comic i got would be a worthy cgc?
I would have no way of knowing that based upon the question asked. If you check the CGC playlist there is a formula that I provide which may help you.
So do they send a box to ship it to them with a pre paid postage
This was filmed a few years ago before CGC started offering boxes to ship. I think they will give you a box when you get a membership or pay for one.
I have a sealed copy of Black Widow 1 with the variant cover. Do I need to break the seal to submit?
Yes, books cannot be graded in the poly bag plus you probably want to inspect the book prior to submission
@@RegieCollects Thank you so much for the response. It was never opened.
@@RegieCollects thanks, that makes sense.
Any reason not to declare the value at the max for the tier
Yes, if you want to overpay for each book that you have graded you can declare the max value for the tier.
The declared value is insurance if something goes wrong while the book is in CGC possession. Put another way, a declared value of $200 on a $10 book would mean that you are buying $190 worth of insurance that you don’t need multipled by the number of books that you are sending. Personal, I declare what the book is worth so as to not waste money.

So how much is in total/ minimum to get 1 modern sent & returned
Grading is $20 for a modern book. Shipping depends upon how you ship it to CGC and how you opt to have it shipped back to you. I can’t estimate those costs for you because I don’t know where you live and the shipper you will use.
You will have costs for a membership so that should be factored in as well. You should also consider getting the book pressed to improve the grade.
Does this help?
Thanks Reggie
Do you send you’re COA with the comic to get grade or would it be best not to?
You do not. It will just get returned.
Very helpful video. But did I miss the part about submitting books older than 1975?
Videos a few year old and I haven’t watched it in some time. The process for submission is the same.
@@RegieCollects So, how do you ascertain the value of the book or is that irrelevant?

ruclips.net/video/qi4Y0HcQPCY/видео.html
When cgc charges you for return shipping i assume they bundle that cost. In other words if i send 15 modern books together all with quick press....so nothing abnormal or different...do theyjust bundle one shipping charge or do they bill you shipping on each separate book?
Bundled with like kind items.

Do you explain how to safely ship a comic book in any of your videos?

@@RegieCollects Hey thanks!!
