    Aprilia does have my brand loyalty. Started on a 2stoke rs125. Stepped up to a restricted dorsoduro 750 and riding a tuono 1100 at the moment. Thanks for the review Chops!

      @@frankeichhorn7979 whilst I don't knock what you're saying, the servicing costs are surely double what they'd be on a jap bike for example?? So whilst your are getting it looked after, it behaved, but at a hefty inflated price.
      I fancy an 1100 Tuono myself, but I want at least a 2017 (but not new 21 model, they're hideous looking things) but I cannot justify their price point right now. I'm 2 weeks away from getting married. Just bought my first house. Off on honeymoon 2 days after our wedding, got a family holiday booked for next year and wanting to book Disney World for 2023. So I'm having to be sensible with my money. And for that price it has to be a gsxs1000f for now. Whilst my loins don't lust for it, it just makes sense and is a "nice" reliable bike.
      I'll get my v4 1100 tuono 2017 in 2024 perhaps and find a low miler.
      I haven't road for 12 years. My last ride was an original RSV mille.
      Before that I had an sv650 as my first bike, followed by a 599 ninja.
      So I guess the gsxs will be a nice shoehorn back into biking.

    I feel like the colored plastic is MUCH better then painted plastic because the color will last longer and when it fades we can polish it back to new and as for the wind it does get a bit heavy on the shoulders up so at highway speeds I just lean in a bit for now but I'll be upgrading the windscreen to a screen a few inches taller to help with that! All in all though I LOVE MY TUONO!!! Happy riding friend!

    Congrats on being one of the very first people to be able to test-ride the new Appies, Chopsy. :) Speaking of the bike, I like the overall design and especially the color scheme on this 660 Tuono (probably a tad more than the RS660 even). I still can't decide if I like the new design of the front mask, though. It does look much more modern but whenever I see it, I think an ant's head (or praying mantis's). I can't help it. :D
    Still, I am interested to see how the RS660 compares to this. Looking forward to you next vlog.

    In Some EU countries (Denmark at least), you can only limit the bike to A2 if it has less than double (96 hp) of A2. thats probably why they announce it as 95 in EU

    A2 bikes can be restricted versions of a bike that has not more than 70 kW originally, which is 95 metric horse power. This is then restricted to 35 kW to make it A2. That's why it's officially 95 hp in Europe.

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  3 года назад

      Ah yes if the limit is 95 then that's why 👍 but paper limit only 😆

    Great Review Lamb Chop. I'm looking into getting back onto a bike after 25 years. Used to ride a Ducati Pantah. The Tuono looks like it provides a more forgiving riding position (than the RS) and considering that I'll be 60 soon would be a good choice. I'm 175cm (6'9") and 72kg (11 stone 4lb), smaller that you (who isn't ha ha) and I'm wondering if it would be a good fit for my body type long term. Comments from others also most welcome. Cheers.

    The 660 looks great but it’s not far off the weight of my bike, around 200kg wet.

    First decent review on this bike I've seen. It does seem expensive compared to other naked bikes with the same sort of power like the street triple S and 790duke. Also going to be as much as the RS660 once options are added to match the RS spec.Every review says how comfy the RS already is so that means it mainly comes down to styling to choose between them? That's if your prepared to part with £10,000 for less than a 100bhp bike when you could have something like a street triple RS with 120bhp for similar money. Can't wait for your thoughts when you do the comparison video.

      I totally agree, it is too expensive, not enough punch for that price... Might get a decent discount at the dealers. Most kid sized Aprilias (shiver and dorsoduro) are well discounted...

    There is supposed to be a torque improvement after the first service as the map is updated for full use of the rpm and torque. They must limit it with the initial map so it can't be thrashed during the running in period.

    The lack of an IMU is baffling. That alone would tip me towards the RS instead of the Tuono, even though I prefer a naked bike.

    • @Soshi12005
      @Soshi12005 3 года назад

      IMU or cornering abs is not really an issue for me since I don’t race unless it’s a specific track day but the lack of a quickshifter (allegedly) on stock tuono 660 is weird

    • @1MrBryn

      @@Soshi12005 yeah, lack of quickshifter is also a big miss. It's one of those features that once you've used, you really don't want to go back.

    Interaction with police car was a bit Pythonesque! Loved it. Does seem weird that they don't have auto-blip or IMU on an Aprilia. After listening to several U.S. and Brit reviews of The RS and yours is the first, excellent btw of The Tuono, I'm sure it's awesome, but I'm not impressed. Can't imagine that I'd have any less fun on a MT or Trident at thousands less.
    Looking forward to you guys getting your mitts on The New Monster.

    Very instructive test ride of the Tuono 660; thanks. For my money I’d take the slightly pricier RS 660 with the added goodies as the described riding position (the main difference and marketing play) isn’t that different from the comfortable RS. And the point Chopsy makes about diminishing returns on litre-plus power houses in our camera- infested country can’t be ignored, even if the temptation is there to mount the larger Aprilias. Looking forward to the comparison.

      Engine break in is silly in 2021. This is not 1970 the tolerances are much higher today. Plenty of evidence to prove this. Anecdotally speaking, I have never rode like a little bitch while breaking in my bikes and I had many with ZERO issues.

  • @beingsolo80

    Z900 v2.0 is the best "middleweight" today. The Gsxs-750 comes second.
    That being said, the Tuono 660 is better than the MT-07 (too tiny) and MT-09 (iffy frame) for sure.
