What a cute, sporty and downright happy cardigan, Janine. Love it! The color is beautiful with your blonde hair. Way to go with using your coverstitch machine; I’m undecided about getting one. I hear tales of tunneling and not getting the “right” finish and with my frustration-threshold at zero, I’m leery. Your stitching looks great! And cute tee as well. You said something about people having “way more talent” than you and I want to stop you right there. No. You have loads of talent and it’s always a pleasure to see! Thanks for giving us a look!😄👍
Thanks, Viv! Learning the cover stitch has been a real process, probably because I haven't dedicated enough time to it. This machine is a new issue so there isn't a ton of training available (and my dealer had no idea how to use it) however I found a Facebook group that has been amazingly helpful! Knock wood ... hems on this type of fabric are an absolute breeze!
Great cardi Janine! I tried the Sewing Bee last year, made it to round two and got kicked out. I thought it was a lot of fun and if the timing wasn't so terrible, I would have liked to participate this year. I will live vicariously through you and I hope you make it!
Thanks :). I truly have no expectations of making it to the 2nd round. So many people just put more effort into it than I did. If I make it, you are welcome to live vicariously through me! I'll be complaining the WHOLE time!!
I am watching this in August. Did you make it to round two? I was very interested in this video. I love watching you because you show things that I’m actually interested in!
Hi Elaine! I was booted out after Round 1 😬 but that's the risk of contests. I have worn that top and cardigan so much and of course, that's what matters! I appreciate you watching!!
Do you have some videos teaching the settlings.I bought one but i tried to set the threads lines but when i try to sew no thread lines appear in the fabric. or the lines break
Hi Carla, I am just at the point where I'm becoming comfortable with the machine and I'm having success (no stitches skipping). Are you on Facebook? There is a very good group called "Getting to Know the Brother CV3440 and CV3550 Cover Stitch". Anyone can join the group. There are a number of very good videos there. Once I feel more confident I will definitely post a video on the machine.
Hi 👋🏻. I’m interested interested in buying brother CV3550 but I have read some unhappy reviews. Can you please tell me if this machine is worth buying? Thx
missSunshine Now that I’ve been working with it more I am happy with it. There’s a real learning curve and I didn’t spend the time I needed at first so I had lots of frustrations. But it was mostly me just jumping in and thinking it would behave like my sewing machine and serger, and it’s more complicated. Now it’s set up right and I know what settings to adjust I am happy with it. But it’s definitely a machine that needs time and patience.

love your entry- very flattering color on you :) the french terry looks soft and snuggly. Great make!
Thank you for your tip (at 6:00), it helped me so so much, I stopped being so frustrated with my new coverstitch machine. Greetings from Slovenia.
Glad it helped, Miinkaa! Thank you for watching!
I really love the cardigan. You did a wonderful job!
Love the cardi Janine! And thanks for input on cover machines! 😍
Thank you!!
Good luck! The cardi is fantastic! I finally made my first Blackwood last week. Of course I love it!
I'm so glad you love the Blackwood!

The Canadian instructional video on you tube shows you how to release the fabric.
siamese35 Thanks! I know there are plenty of new videos being added every day, which is great.
