What an amazing tutorial! I wanted my own fursuit since a long time ago but didn’t have the skill or materials to just make the base. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL!
For anyone making a kemono/Kig mask: you can follow tutorials on 3d modelling furry models like Gus Guntherton & another person (I forgot their name rn) and see how they build the face. This is another method for sculpting, but I think it works pretty well. Make sure to subdivide tho cause they start out very polygonal.
A little tip for people who hate vertices editing. You can sculpt the model on a sphere with a million subdivision surface modifiers (if your pc can handle it) and then use that as a base to model the head with planes, if that makes sense. It's really useful for me anyway-
do not actually use a million subdivision modifiers.. i accidentally put in 113 instead of 13 and my PC EXPLODED. i had to unplug it and restart it to give it back its soul.
i used to do this but its really laggy even on high end machines. if u dont want to do vert editing thats totally fine, u can do almost the exact same thing in sculpt mode, but instead of subdivisions i would use a multires that way ur computer wont be constantly trying to kill itself. u can go back and forth between subdivision levels while keeping ur detail. also u can turn on wireframe so u can have a sense of what parts of the mesh you're grabbing. though for anything you're covering with fur, small details arent going to show up, unless you use a minky or something. I'd personally keep the subdivision levels as low as possible unless i absolutely needed the detail. but yea working with individual verts used to kill me but once u do it some more its pretty useful
I’m assuming you split all those pieces and printed seperately. If so how did you piece them together afterwards. I’m looking into getting a printer but most on the lower end don’t have enough printing space.
why do you put holes in the head? I’m genuinely curious as someone who wants to make 3d printed heads 😅i’m assuming it has something to do with printing it out?
it makes it a bit lighter to wear and more breathable. it actually doesnt help with printing much in my experience cause you have to print more supports
Unfortunately blender is not available on an ipad :( most advanced/quality 3d modeling software is made for computers as an ipad does not quite have the power/space to run such a program. However, there are some other 3d modeling softwares made for an ipad, and if you happen to have a computer blender is free and very easy to download :) I would suggest looking into the 3d printing aspect a bit more as I’m unsure of how compatible it is with an iPad. Hope this could help!
How do you hollow the model then solidify? I have a model made and it’s basically just how I want it, but I have never used blender (I made my model on a different, less advanced program then put it in blender to finish it) so I can’t figure it out 😭
You need to use a solidify Modifier, its located in the "Gear wrench" folder on the right side of your screen. your model should already be infinitlley thin unless you solidified it already.
sorry for the late reply oops but i like PLA. PETG is more flexible so it might take a beating more, idk. careful if you use something like ABS cause the fumes are toxic. another thing is since its wearable if u use something that smells like plastic it might be unpleasant, but PLA smells kinda sweet since its made from sugar and corn :)
I've never modelled a fursuit/furry head - but this would be pretty much how I'd do it: round cube and all
Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling to find good information for making 3D printed bases so this has been a blessing

Or you get a cube, add 2 sub devisions. Then go in sculpt mode and enable dyntopo. Your method is overly flawed

“Welcome Eggs Benedict” - Hand Unit
The last time I 3d modelled a headbase was like a year ago so I completely forgot how to do everything so this video is super helpful thanks!
I LOVE YOUR SUIT STYE SM OH MY GOD
Thanks! I’ve been trying to model one just using a modeling project and no references and it was terrible so thanks!
I have learned many new things from this video, thank you Benedict!
I remember seeing this on tiktok, so glad this appeared on my suggested :)
Hey there. Thanks for this. I hope to see you make more videos. It’s a very niche area
Useful video! Great job :D
Lol, we are the same! I looked this up to make a flying fox suit,my design happens to be in a similar style to yours
Thanks
Great video!

you use plastic cement
does the material you print it make any difference?
6:11 oh.. how have you done it like actual masks out of sphere?
what version of blender do you use!

@@crepe_goo oh okay! Thank you ^^ i was curious because i always see them in other people’s models :]
@@crepe_gooactually according to Mugiwara, it helps save filament as well as what you said
Can u do this on an iPad Air

Freaked out when I read vampire helpp me 😭😭😭🖤🖤🖤🙏
Are you still alive eggsbenedict?? :(

In blender, the walls of the model are infinitely thin, so deleting any vertices will punch a hole into the hollow center.

@@arti6982 thank you!
hey is there anyway u can make a fursuit head on ipad bc my pc can't handle it bc its rly bad
man made horrors beyond the comprehension.
That video didn't help at all. Can't even see most of the things with the 140p resolution going on there.......
Hey I have a question :)
What material do you use to print out the headbase?
Oh and nice vid btw
it depends on what u work with! i use pla but theres other people who use resin, it depends on what ur using ^^
