We can deduct from the video that the trail is used by bikers, so regardless of the area being private property or not we can assume someone wanted to do some kinda of harm to the east riding the trail. Colliding with a metal wire at a speed as fast as the guys in the video would most likely cause either full on decapitation or some form of a broken neck, spinal cord damage, severe blunt force trauma to the head after the biker is knocked off his bike, or some combination of the three.
Saying that the video isn't capturing a trap is you being extremely intellectually dishonest when it is painfully obvious to the vast majority of people that that wire was placed on that trail in the hopes of causing severe damage to any bike riders that used that trail.

The plot twist may be that it’s not the property owner putting up the lines. If this is privately managed land, the forest owner probably gets some degree of funding from local ATV/bike/SxS riding groups and local campgrounds to maintain the trails. Often times, it’s upset neighbors who sneak down the trails to put up these cables, whether due to engine noise at later hours than they deem acceptable or from drunk riders littering on roads and trails. If the property owner isn’t able to survey their trails daily, they may very well not be aware that someone is trespassing on their land and putting their guests in harm’s way.

Bike traps are absolutely insane. Some people really are just sadistic idiots. What’s the point? They’re illegal too. There are also tons of different kinds. The cable at head or neck level being the most common but they also put them at handlebar or mid-wheel level in order to make the bike go crazy and minimum severely injure the rider. This is also done with fishing line to make it less visible. Another very common trap is where they’ll put a board on the ground and either put tons of small nails and/or screws to pop the bikes tired or cause the rider to fall, or, the more dangerous version, ginormous spikes or roofing nails that can kill someone. Some people are even crazy enough to do some home alone type crap and make a gun system but those are alot more rare, probably because it’s easier to trace and louder and harder to do. Then there are the people that’ll just shoot. Please check the trail you’re riding before you ride. It’s sad but it’s a real, common and horrific issue that takes hundreds of life’s and almost never receive justice because the culprits are almost never caught

(True story) this brings back memories of it so Ill share..
When I used to ride horses in the fountry with my friends there were alot of open fields that were split up by fences or stone walls. We would race eachother through the fields and jump the fences/ stone walls. Yeah we were going through peoples property, but we didnt do any damage, snd most didnt care because alot of people did the same.
Anyway.. this one person (assume the owner of that property) put a fishing line from tree to tree right over one of the stone walls. My friend was in front, and all the sudden I see her go down for no apprent reason. Thankfully I stoped. Turns out she got necked by the fishing line... Which was strong enough that she fell off from being necked in it, and it left a prety nasty mark!
Wtf is wrong with people. Keep in mine we were only kids " maybe 14"? It could have ended alot worse.

For whatever reason, they installed a chain across the entrance. We didn't know about it and that night he took the shortcut, only seeing the chain at the last second. He tried to duck under, but it caught him in the face, ripping him off the motorcycle. He laid there for several hours with a broken neck until someone discovered him.

Well if it is on their property they are allowed to dig holes and you can fall trees on roads that don't get used by first responders if that is on public lands you cannot put up lines that could hurt somebody or something like that but on your own property yes you could you can put up lines like that and it's not illegal all you have to do is argue in court that you were hanging your clothes on it the best thing to do is not going to people's properties or bother other people but what's the fun in that right lol

It wasn’t like this situation in the sense that it was done maliciously but he was riding a dirt bike and hit a cable similar to this and it literally took his head clean off. This is a very real and very serious risk to someone’s life to do this. You will literally be murdering someone if you do this intentionally. Be better, people.
