    I also wanted to give large ammount of credit to Bob Hanlon Motorsports. Bob has a VERY informative T5 rebuild video that every rebuilder should have thats new to doing them. He goes slow, step by step and even takes the time to go over what to look for when rebuilding them as far as wear and tear. Theres a dozen of need to know small things that he also mentions in that very video. Highly recommended. I would post the video but thats against their policy as they sell the DVD.

  • @Neomustangs
    @Neomustangs  12 лет назад

    Whats funny about a 4cyl trans? They work in a V8 swap but not for long. They will break when you least expect it. However on a pure stock block, maybe it will last longer. Depends on how you drive it.

    I swapped to a t-5 in 3 days in my tbird 5.0 that never came with a stick. Hardest part was removing and reinstalling the exhaust. Aod driveshaft was perfect, btw...

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  10 лет назад

      AOD drive shaft is a weighted yolk. Not only will it throw the balance off it will also wear out the rear bushing in the T5 tail shaft.

    • @bootyman234
      @bootyman234 8 лет назад

      +Neomustangs Throw off the balance of what? If its on the driveshaft it came with, its balanced with THAT drive shaft.

  • @lilsammywasapunkrock

    Weird it did disapear. I didn't use a stick shift driveshaft because there never was one for a 5.0 thunderbird. Mustang one is about 4" too short.

  • @302vortech

    leave it to ford to make two different shifter holes for man. and auto. i did a t5 to aod swap, just opposite of this, id say converting to stick is a bit more difficult

    I have been doing T5 swaps for YEARS in and out of fox bodys. This was purely informative and i will delete your comment if your negative. Feel free however to ADD to this blog area if theres other information you deem important pertaining to the swap. I felt the need to post a good informative video for people to browse. I linked together a bunch of movies with my movie maker so i apologize if its a little shaky.

But before I do if you had any suggestions seeing that you know the foxbody inside and out I would really appreciate any of your input.. thank you very much love your channel...

    BAll park, what kind of $$$ is a person looking at for this swap. Parts and labor.

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  5 лет назад +1

      It depends on what you get parts from. There’s a lot of parts to really do this swap correctly that most don’t even sell you. I sell the swap and I have had nothing but excellent response from customers about the detail. You could salvage parts here and there might take you away. You could get it as cheap as 1k and as much as 3k. Price Varys. As for labor. I charged quite a few customers 1k in labor and they were ok with it. So it right and clean bout 10 hours

      No one deleted your post.... Im not really interested in you trying to correct me either. That's not what this post is about. And I appreciate you sharing the fact that the weight comes off. I never thought to try that. I just put the correct manual driveshaft in.

    • @bootyman234
      @bootyman234 8 лет назад

      +lilsammywasapunkrock Is the weight a vibration dampener, or there for balance? I cant see how it would be a problem if left on. The guy in the video just said its wrong, but gave no reason. Also, Neomustangs referred to the driveshaft he put on as a manual one, what does that mean? The yolk is the only difference I can see and have never heard of anyone making a distinction between a auto and Manuel driveshaft.

    • @lilsammywasapunkrock
      @lilsammywasapunkrock 8 лет назад

      +Anthony Wayne it is a harmonic dampener. a weight with a rubber cushion designed to dampen vibrations, nothing more. there is no difference between the driveshafts at all except for this small pressed on peice. the cast iron ring is prone to cracking and most fall of or become missing over time anyways.
      the yolks are only slightly different in splined length, not function.

    • @bootyman234
      @bootyman234 8 лет назад

      +lilsammywasapunkrock Thank you for that. It would seem then, however, that leaving it on would not be a bad thing if it's there just to dampen vibration...and if the splines were compatible. =) Do AOD's have vibration issues that the T5 doesn't? Perhaps he should have just mentioned the spline difference and not say that it's just wrong, as if it was the weight itself that made it so.
      P.S. Mine is defect free, and the car is now 24 years old!

    • @lilsammywasapunkrock
      @lilsammywasapunkrock 8 лет назад

      +Anthony Wayne aod's came with a lower ratio (numerically higher) final drive ratio. the faster the driveshaft spins the more noticeable out of balance issues become. personally I would just knock it off and forget about it. lots of guys will tell you something will or won't work and preach it as gospel.
      I bought a 03 v-6 sn-95 t-5 for $150 off Craigslist. everyone said it wouldn't work and the driveshaft would be 3/4" too long. when I finished the swap the driveshaft sat 1/8" further out of the trans which I decided was due to the 200lbs or so of weight reduction with a manual swap. the shifter lined up perfectly with the hole I cut and lined up right in the cutout of a stock turbo coupe console trim ring, which had the 2.3 turbo with a t-5.
      long story short bunch of mustang guys said I couldn't use the 3.8 Bell housing and I'd need to swap the input shaft and spend money on a new bellhousing. instead I ended up just using a stock f-150 clutch and flywheel and starter. I could have used the 94-04 mustang clutch, but it cost over $100 more.
