Guthry is so humble. His video lessons are some of the top tier, very best available and his phrasing and note choices are epic. He plays the tastiest lead guitar I've EVER seen/heard and his improvisation skills are definitely among the absolute, very best improvisors to ever play a guitar.
Man, he can make the changes sound like they always belong exactly where where he plays them. Even if he hits a “wrong” note he can smoothly make it work
Terrific interview Marty! Guthrie is one amazing guitarist & seems like a really nice guy. I have no idea what he was talking about when he reviewed the guitar neck but it sounded great! 👍👍🎸🎸👏👏👍👍
This episode is simply legendary!! It’s cool to see the guitar players that Marty respects and showcases. I could learn from this 22 minutes for months if not years!! 🙌🏻
Absolutly incredible guitarist Marty! The relationship between the chords and the lead guitar that he's said it's the key! You could make that with your friend Steve Vai!
What was that thing you did? Legend has it society used to greet people with something known as a “hand shake” Now there is something called the “Corona Kick” and the “elbow bum” damn.. I miss going to concerts!
Wow! It’s been a long time since you’ve done a Guitar Tour. Thank you Marty and Guthrie! It’s also kinda funny, because just the other day I was watching your old episodes of Guitar Tours : ) Nice Intro Jam by the way 😃👍
By far the best most educational video yet...I've been playing for all my life and really bummed out so I wanted to learn jazz but thought it was impossible....but this video really helped because yall are covering jazz
Ive followed and been a fan of Guthrie for quite awhile now, but when he starts explaining how he sees the fretboard, it completely blows my mind and my simple Marine Corps mind just cannot keep up. Still love him though!!
Dear mr.Guthrie...am a person from India,a State in south of India, very beautiful place.....(your guitar might love the place more than you(LOL) (i have subscribed to your channel,3 years back) a guitarist, writer, architect, person who lives in my own niche without hurting others....but at the same time .... i dream that one day you will land over here in india and enjoy all the places that i take you (which is never ever a scheduled tourist spot, and but as in organic ambience of our place i really really wanna listen to ur playing guitar so close by .... your mesmorizing improvisation (so as when some edges brittles and withers i could just pick of that.......but stringently one thing..... not to market or nothing ....just becoz....i love the way you play guitar and your liberal mind to teach all by your open mind that i used to perceive in your videos...
So far todate, I've better my playing because of a certain Nashville giant, not to name drop, rhymes with holy vac. My playing just gotten so much better. This fellow has put the perspective upon my fingers and now they're like oh okay yeah I get. Now it's just catch up time. Thanks Nashville team!
I took an in person lesson with Guthrie last year. Super nice guy and teacher. It was cool that he took the time to do the lesson despite his notoriety in guitar circles in town and on RUclips.
That's really cool . I'm gonna hunt him down in Nashville and also get a lesson. I'm in the same wheel house as Guthrie except a lot slower , a little out tune , hit all the bad notes and my tone is terrible. But in the same wheel house. Lol
Awesome Marty.. You and Guthrie Rock our world! Amazing lesson and great inspiration as always... You and Guthrie have a great thing going on, Grace, Passion, Learned wisdom of all things guitar and rock n roll!
Guthrie is one if not THE most tasteful, melodic and proficient guitarist/musicians around. Discovered him 2-years ago. Humble as humble can be. There are not many on his level.
@Marty can you please kindly do a RUclips tutorial video covering the comping styles/chords when you were comping w/ Guthrie. Great lead playing, but want to get those chords down thanks and your are awesome!
love Guthrie's jam with Richard Smith, Bryan Sutton, Pat Bergeson, and Tommy Emmanuel. FOLSOM PRISON BLUES. if you haven't seen it. search for it on youtube. talk about 5 masters playing together. Amazing
My buddy is getting into modes I do use mixolydian over my Dom7 but I dont care about phrigion flat 7 #5 Dorian cammel hump flat 5. Just play a melody that sounds nice.
Ok, Guthrie. you can't say you don't have expensive guitars while you play your Gibson Custom Shop 335 and tell us about a $5000 Mandolin. Great video! Everyone watching wishes they could sit in with you both.
"As a kid"...there you go. So been playing for what now 30 years seriously with lessons no doubt. Lessons? What is that? I had a piano lesson once, cost me half a weeks pay and all she did was tell me to learn a Chopin piece and I had it ready for the following week. She never taught me a single thing so I was done.
Thanks for Trapping us Marty, I just stumbled across his RUclips channel a couple of months ago and absolutely love the guy, he is a monster on the Tele and a wonderful teacher, your the man Marty I've learned so much from you, one thing that amazes me about you guys,is how much you are at one with the instrument and just know by ear training where to place your hands for the next move, having played rhythm in a cover band years ago, you know what I mean by automatic pilot, trying to learn lead is a challenge for me, and it's guys like you that are making it fun, it's never easy and requires way more knowledge of the fret board, thanks for all you do and for all your videos, no body can ever steal your thunder Marty, and I always get back to the guy who started it all, you will always be one of my favorites brother.
He seems like such a nice guy. Phenomenal guitarist too 👌
Wow, Guthrie is in the house. Guitar player extraordinaire!
Dude I absolutely miss these. There is always something new to learn from you, whether it'd be interesting history or lessons! Great man!
Same so good
@@Travelwithchris Indeed!
Glad you like them!
@@MartyMusic Always man!
Can you make a video with tom bukovac?
Took 30 years to get over not being Eddie Van Halen, and I'll spend the next 30 coming to terms with not being Guthrie Trapp.
Being a guitarist is a complex life
You two are incredible Guitar Players, and thank you @Guthrie Trapp for giving us advice today. I considered it helpful : D
The two of you are SO RESOURCEFUL!! Many thanks....so many thanks!!!!!!!!

Never heard of this guy before. You could sit down next to him in a bar and still not know who he is but you'd never forget him. This guy is cool.
Love this! Hoping Gibson gets the factory back up and running soon! 😀 Stay safe everyone! 😉
Yes!
@@FirstLast-xn8ic Me too! I want one just like Marty's! 👍🤘😀
You two look like brothers. Most badass guitar brothers. Love both of you. Great job.

Guthrie is not a good teacher....
He is an Excellent Teacher. One of the very best teachers.
Yes David, & such a great player! Among the ranks of Josh Smith, Matt Schofield, Kirk Fletcher, Brent Mason etc
Finally two really nice guys sharing stuff. Love it.
Guthrie has helped me so much with his teaching and the way he explains things.
Holy crap for real, both of you guys
Great eye opener! Thanks Guys!

So cool Marty. Guthrie is a great guitarist. Another awesome episode.

From the many videos I’ve seen of Guthrie I think he’s right up there with Tommy E.
Great video!
Guthrie may be the most cleverly tasty guitarist in the game right now.....WOW!
That is some bad arse content and GT is the bollocks on guitar. Thanks for that guys.

Gorgeous. A concentrate of skill. Just amazing, Marty you made my day :) Cheers from Paris
Thank you very much!
Has Guthrie gotten together with Rick Beato yet? I'd love to see them have a good chat like this.
Awesome! Everything he just taught about playing lead also applies to playing bass.
Good stuff!
I love when super heroes do team-ups!
