Thanks for this! Had Companion running but had never created animations or used the upstream keyer, super clear! Created a simple lower third in after effects from scratch and it's working beautifully!
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Does the ATEM Mini Pro ISO still record these Lower Thirds or animations as a separate ISO track (in order to tweak edit in DaVinci Resovle) with the setup you are showing us in this video? great tutorial thank you so much! how did you connect the obs monitor as a camera source btw? my second monitor with the full screen preview window is connected to my laptop... which is plugged in via ethernet to my mini pro.
Right click and select Windows Projector (Preview). When that window opens up right click on that screen and select Full screen > BMD HDMI. Also ensure your secondary display isn’t set to mirror.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat huh. dang, i didn't realize my atem mini pro could read a whole other input through my computer ethernet connection. I was confused for a second, like how could I connect an HDMI from my computer to a second screen, and another HDMI from my second screen to my atem mini
Nice. I suppose I could use VLC video player with the animation, then use my stream deck to run the steps from a single button press... but this is great! Thanks!
Check out Bitfocus Companion, it's made for the Stream Deck and it has native Atem control in it as well as the ability to control VLC or OBS (among many other things). You can set up a macro where one press will enable the keyer, run the animation and disable the keyer, or many other features.

Great content! So this method with obs is just pushing a keyed scene into the atem… how do you calculate the time for a stinger transition? I do have the transition ready in obs …
If you need to nail timing I would test it out offline by recording using the ATEMs record feature and in the NLE of choice, frame count. Keep in mind that software will never be as frame accurate as a hardware based solution. I explain this with greater detail here: ruclips.net/video/WJTAF0sT1kc/видео.html

Yes, if you are streaming with OBS that will work. But if you plan to stream using the ATEM Mini Pro / ISO / Extremes native hardware streaming capabilities that will not work.
Can ATEM Mini Pros import animations (e.g. Lower Thirds) in video format (e.g. .mp4 or .mov), which have been prepared in another software, e.g. After Effects ? Or just still images with which the animation itself is built within the ATEM Mini Pro environment ?
I'm confused about how you're hooking the ATEM to your computer while still having the controller read your second display. I have two cameras coming in (HDMI 1 and 2), my main monitor output (HDMI output on the back of the ATEM), my ATEM and Imac are hooked up to the network via ethernet, and my secondary display, to run full-screen OBS, is hooked up to my iMac. How are you getting the secondary display to output to the ATEM? Thanks!
My iMac is connect to the ATEM via thunderbolt port using an HDMI converter (connected to HDMI port 4).The iMac recognizes the ATEM as a secondary display. I ensure in System preferences that the iMac isn’t mirroring the displays. Instead it is treating them as separate displays (monitor 1 and Monitor 2) Does that make sense?
@@CreateConsumeRepeat thank you for the help! So, you then slide the OBS popout screen onto "input 4" of the ATEM and trigger the animation on OBS via your iMac?
Why do you add a green screen as a seperate scene? If you have graphics that have green and stay on scene when ended you don't lose your chroma? If I understand correctly trough this way you can as well implement video's and lower thirds into your atem stream trough 1 external display?
I add a green screen as a separate scene so other elements I import into OBS can use an alpha channel. Grants me more freedom. And yes this way allows you place any graphic or lower third into your stream. Playing video would require a slightly different setup since your video might have green in it.

I’m not really sure what you’re asking. But if you are asking whether or not you can record instant replays with the base ATEM Mini without OBS the answer is no. At least not to my knowledge.
Did you know that you don't need to select the yellow key button to turn it on. And that you can auto transition the key by deselecting the background key and only select the key button and then hit the auto button. That way it will transition only the upstream key without changing the background. I see a lot of tutorials not telling this future. I even saw one that mentions putting the preview the same as the program to them do the transition. That is totally unnecessary.
I was aware of this but when constructing a tutorial I try to ensure whoever is following along gets the same exact result. But thank you again for checking. All tips are welcomed.

One very important question.... this would require OBS to be active at all time right? And who’s taking the encoding job? OBS or ATEM PRO?
OBS needs to be running all the time and the stream is being encoded by the ATEM Mini Pro / ISO / Extreme. The Mini doesn’t support hardware encode.
