What makes me more upset is reading the future plans and storylines that probably will never come to fuention. For example, a backstory of Cheetara where takes off her ankle weights to reveal she can move fast enough to travel through time. I would have love to have seen how the rest would have played out.
The reason this cartoon was great is that it made the other cartoons of the time seem campy by comparison and actually made us think a wee bit... and a lot of us had Cheetarah fantasies.
I loved Thundercats grew up with it both in the 80s, and on Toonami in 1998 when they ran it, the characters on both good side, and bad were great. A great voice cast, It had good music, and some good animation for that time. At times deep story arcs like Lion-O's Anointment, ThunderCats - Ho! though a movie was later made into a multi part episode.
FYI, this show was actually more popular among children than people might know. It was down played in the media bc parents complained that Mummra and the mutants were introducing their children to the concepts of Satanism. The same reason why Dungeons and Dragons game and even the cartoon were being demonized. I remember having to sneak and watch Thundercats with my friends after school. We got caught, and we're made to watch reruns of Little House on the Prairie instead.😂
It was part of my cartoon block along with random stuff from hanble barbera: grape ape, captain cavemen and 2 different ghostbuster cartoons. my parents I don't think cared about the cartoon they had a thing about sound. especially my dad.
I always wondered if they were trying to setup a romance between Lion-o and Cheetara despite the age difference or maybe Lion-o would fall for Willa of the Warrior women.

I know about a 10 year gap but still... but I think their relationship is more of a guardian and prince type. And plus Tigera already has eyes for Cheetara. I loved ThunderCats so much! Between them and TMNT I was set! Saturday morning cartoons were the only reason to get up early on the weekend. My last name is literally "Lyons" so I felt a connection. I hope they do some kind of reboot but hopefully they don't fuck it up like they've done with other ones
There is something missing about Mumm-ra's weakness not explained here. Mumm-ra become weak and restored to his original form if he sees his reflection, either from the mirror, sword of omens, or other reflecting surfaces.
As to reflect his true self and stop living in denial. 🤣 As a kid, I always felt that Mumra was that kid who got picked on too many times growing up and got fed up, so he joined the dark forces in their Hellish crusades to feel part of something bigger than himself, thus why he goes from a decripiped (sorry for typo) mummy to a massive lethal evil weapon of doom for those forces to use. 🤔 I always felt pity for him.

To me, Slithe owes his design to both Gollum and The Goblins from Rankin Bass' The Hobbit. Not only was he animated and designed by the same studio( Top Craft with Ted Wolf/ Tsuguchi Kubo) but has their facial traits and body build!
Can't believe you left out MONGOR! The most terrifying and effective of them all. So terrifying was, that he was the personification of fear itself, and managed to defeat the TCs and even almost Lion-O. Also, I think Demolisher deserved a spot.
Live action does not work for these animated shows, it’s stupid and they always have to condense the story for a movie. A CGI or well animated series is much better.
We need an R rated live action thundercats movie, they are essentially evolved wild animals, imagine a scene where they get in touch with they're animal side and just start ripping the badguys apart
Mumra alone seem to be a rated R villain too. Summoning ancient evil spirits and all. 🤔I know the Mummy movies made such things comical and all, but it can be quite dark.

As a child I had the _biggest_ crush on Mum-Ra. One of the 2 highlights of each episode was: *1.)* His transformation incantation (I got goosebumps EVERYTIME.) *2.)* Lion-O's "Thundercats....HO!" I was always confused as to why Grune (who _himself_ was the SAME SPECIES as the REST of the Thundercats) had a _FULL lion's head_ INSTEAD of the hybridized feline/human look the rest of the Thundercats spotted.
Love the thundercats, I also own the complete series on DVD. Would love to see a live action movie come out, just hope that it will stay true to the cartoon!!

First, let me thank you guys for putting out such AWESOME videos for all of us. This video was like all of your others meaning it DIDN'T DISAPPOINT!!! I wasn't really big on the remake of ThunderCats but the 80's OG ThunderCats was one of my favorite cartoons growing up!!! To this very day, I still collect Mumm-Ra merch and memorabilia. My top two favorite 80's cartoon villains would have to be Mumm-Ra (of course) and Prime Evil from Filmations Ghostbusters. Like I said before, the video was absolutely STELLAR and your RUclips Channel is one of the BEST!!! Keep up the great work!!!
All these same voice actors went on to voice SilverHawks as well. I loved it equally as much as this show. MonStar was exactly like Mumra except space based. Same voice actor for sure Lol. You should do video on the SilverHawks. 🙂
The same animation and voice team had a third series, called TigerSharks, as well. They appeared on the screens of Mumm-Ra's pyramid ship in the 2011 reboot, which would make them a part of the ThunderCats/SilverHawks Universe. (Yes, the 'Hawks appeared there, too!)

I think it actually offered something much more intricate, given it was a cultural collaboration between American and Japanese animation artists.
He-man's animation was good for the time but the animation of Thundercats was far superior and more anime-like. Also He-man used much more stock footage,beyond their respective transformation sequences they both reused, punching, running , ect.

Lou Scheimer ran his animation like a well-oiled machine, given the technology of the day. If he were alive today, he would have been a kid in a candy store. But you are right, not only were action motions repeated, but even characters were reintroduced, just touched up with maybe a different color hair, or shirt.

I was not born to see this series when it debuted, but I did see it on Toonami when it was re-aired, and I enjoyed it along with Voltron in the 2000s or so. I remember an episode of Full House that Michelle was watching the show in the background. The show was fantastic for its time. The reboot was good, but sadly was cut too short.
If there was ever another movie? Ving Rayms would've been great for the roll of Panthro, He looks just like him without Blue paint and he has the voice over for it.
So the thundercats invade 3rd earth while the last living inhabitant of earth tries to fend them off now and then. Like a horse whipping flys with it's tail. Those cats were unwanted "guests".

I’d like to see a continuation of the 2011 series, it was amazing and was beginning to include characters from other series like He-Man, Silverhawks, etc. They should do another season and just improve the animation.

Great 1980's cartoon. Thundercats, he-man, G.I. JOE and silverhawks are three great cartoon series til this day.

I’d like to see a continuation of the 2011 series, it was amazing and was beginning to include characters from other series like He-Man, Silverhawks, etc. They should do another season and just improve the animation.

Man I don't know why you think that ThunderCats was not a great 80s cartoon when it absolutely was! Even when they played the reruns in the late 90s, quite a few kids that never knew about until then went crazy over it!
I was born in 1980, it was one of my favourite cartoons. I didn't understand English when I was a kid, but I enjoyed watching thundercats!
