Like... 20th (?) listen. I sleep with those, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and unfinished tales. I rotate them. I've done other books, but Tolkien's stories are always a story of hope and hope is better for sleep.
The conversation between Frodo and Gandalf when Frodo wakes up in Rivendell…. such masterful deep storytelling and such character building, it is really the best story ever written. I never get tired of it.
5:30:05 Gandalf stating his account to the Council of Elrond but cannot help but brag about his swift horse, similar to how we love fast shiny cars. Shadowfax! Woowoo!
I started to listen to a copy of this version on another channel, a version I had not heard before. I like to listen to new versions I come across as they are nearly all well produced and acted. There I was playing a game while enjoying the story when it went from Rivendell to the mines of Moira, Balin's tomb. I went back and checked the chapters and scrolled down the menu, 3 video's were unavailable. Found this channel and started again, could not be bothered to find the chapter I last heard so started again, hope this version has it all or it is back to Andy Serkis and another restart.
I would be interested to know why it was Frodo who was sent off to Mordor. Even when Gandalf spoke to Frodo upon waking up after being healed by Elrond, it was obvious Gandalf already knew it had to be Frodo. Why?
The best book series I've ever read. LOTR has intentionally by the Author Strong Christian foundations throughout the series. Think about the final book Return of the King. It's foundation is the battle of each of us choosing to follow Jesus or the evil one which determines our eternal life. Fight the good fight no matter what the world's lies tells you
I disagree. In all of Tolkien’s writing, there’s always such an emphasis on music and sound that I think any LOTR audiobook would be incomplete without musical accompaniment or ambient sound. I think it adds a bit more magic to the reading.

Same for me!! I read the books millions of times and audiobook at night
It's the BEST
@ me too! Since 1976… over and over. And at that time I didn’t know anyone else who loved the books. Yaay for youtube.
@greenbrain8725 The books are the best 👌 As I get older I realise more and more how genius Tolkien was
3rd time listening in the last 5 weeks.. great narration and legendary story. J.R.R. was genius.

Thank you! Thank you! A wonderful mix of the voices and music of the movies with the words of Tolkien
Approaches Nichol Williams storytelling. Nichol's Hobbit lodged in my heart as a child, and this is close
Just to keep my place, excellent reading 📚 of this epic tallest of tales

1:46:31 made my back shiver.
I like it, except that the music is too loud and drowns out the narrator.
Are you listening with only one headphone / EarPod in? I’ve found one side is stronger than the other 😅
The music should have been louder in part one to drown out the horrific cacophony that was Bombadil's singing.
So well done, can't sleep tho lol bless him
I love this, but I really wish that the backing track was a little quieter, because sometimes you can’t make out the actual words
Thanks for uploading this

He was the ring bearer. No one else could have done it. I think even Gandalf would have fallen under its influence if he’d carried it.
Thank you very much
where can one buy this specific audiobook? there are so many variations that it gets hard to find this specific reader.
There is only one phill Dragash he has a website.
@@peterbamforth6453is that who’s narrating this version?
@@XoXo475 He Narrates and he produced this masterpiece.
Can you get it without the music and effects so you actually can hear what he is reading?

Too bad the voice is muffled by the way too loud music and sound effects. Bad producing
and the narrator should cut down on his ritalin
@@DrLoverLoveryou should cut down on the bitching, find a different audiobook, or- EVEN BETTER- put the effort in and read the book yourself 🤦🏻♀️
What are you listening to it on? It sounds fantastic with headphones, the music and effects are a fantastic addition
This has got to AI. Too many mispronunciation for an English native tongue
You are slow
This is a really bad narration, the sound effects muffle the beautiful Tolkien language.
