There is a way to get PS2 singstar games to work in a PS3. You just need a PS3 (any), a PS3 singstar game, then you boot into the PS3 game's song selection and select change disc; it will allow you play the PS2 songs even if your PS3 is not backwards compatible. Could you check if your custom PS2 disc works in a PS3 using this method? Would love to give it a try myself but I don't want to put all the effort in if the final checkpoint will stop me. Cheers
Omg I’d genuinely be curious too. Unfortunately my childhood PS3 I still have broke when I was a kid and when it was fixed it was repaired with a “blue ray only” disc drive. Due to this my ps3 is unable to play anything that isn’t in blue ray format. If I ever get a better ps3 I’d love to give this a go.
I've bought a PS3 SingStar Vol. 2 disc (and installed the latest 6.00 update) to try this and unfortunately it doesn't work. A custom PS2 SingStar disc is not detected as a valid SingStar disc. I don't know if it's because of the fact it's a burned disc or because the contents are different. I tried burning a SingStar Anthems disc and that one also doesn't work with this swapping option. I tried two PS3 Slim's, one with CFW and one stock. The custom disc (not patched with FDVDB/ESR) does work in a real PS2 after I installed a modchip in it.

I too am currently trying to build my own custom singstar game as an anniversary present for my girlfriend, however I am running into two main issues that are preventing me from making progress and was wondering if you encountered the same and how you worked around them: 1. When adding some songs, I receive "is not a valid floating point value" when validating the txt files. I suspect it may be due to notes that work in ultrastar that are out of bounds for singstar and need to be adjusted? 2. Once I've added a list of songs and hit the create DVD button, more often then not the process will get stuck trying to convert one of the txt files and won't progress. I know for a fact that it isn't an issue with the txt file itself as trying to build an ISO with just the one song will work and it more seems to be an issue when trying to convert multiple songs. Would greatly appreciate any help you could give, can talk over discord if it makes it any easier
I don’t have a template unfortunately! The disc template would be different depending on the sticker paper, and there’s plenty of scans of ps2 game covers you can use as a base :)

My ps2 doesn't work that well anymore from being for years in a vertical stand, plus the image is trash on modern TVs. So what I do is I put in a disc of a ps3 singstar and when I'm in the song list menu, if i press select i can insert a ps2 singstar and play the songs from there. Do you know if the method you used works in the ps3 with that ps2 bypass you mentioned? Thanks!

If your PS2 has a bad DVD laser, you can also play (custom) SingStar from SD card using a MX4SIO and the latest OPL. Or from a HDD if you have a phat PS2 with network adapter. Image quality is ok when using a component or RGB cable.
Has anyone ever come across 'Linkin Park' and 'the Beatles + 60s' custom singstars? I've read them mentioned back in the day, but never saw any footage or anything (you can still find singstar Michael Jackson though)
