Gotta love Argento and goes without saying he's a Master if not the Master but he's gaslighting the audience somewhat with his claim that he almost invented it as he was one of the first. He did his first Gallio in 1970 a good 6 years after Blood and Black Lace and the following year, in 65, the genre was solidified by Ernesto Gastaldi film Libido, both these films define exactly what he descried. With that being said he is defiantly, overall, the most influential.

how could he claim that he invented the giallo style when BAVA was dabbling in it many years prior

they been around a long time, going back to the books. and alfred hitchcock was basically doing the same thing even before bava did it. so its true, he didnt create it, but alot of people imitated his specific style where there was some sort of animal clue that solved the mystery, and alot more blood and gore like in deep red. just like carpenter didnt invent slasher films, but after halloween a ton of them had a masked killer and set on a holiday

@@TheTrashStashon top of that, Robert Siodmak basically made a giallo movie with The Spiral Staircase back in 1946. Black leather gloves of the killer (whose identity is unknown until the end of the movie), POV, women getting killed and the close up of the stalking killer's eye

He is an Italian. Why should his pronunciation of a foreign language be perfect? Can you speak in Italian perfectly?
