  • I catch the train to Paignton, and walk around the coast to explore the geology around Saltern Cove.

One can never go wrong taking a beauty of a coastal walk! Always neat to see when the tide is far out!

      Thank you Bruce and Otis!
Yes, it (the tide) certainly goes out a long way here.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
      Cheers,

What a beautiful walk, it's amazing how quickly you can get away from crowds & have wonderful places to yourself. The geology was so interesting.

Yes, it is incredible how the hubbub of the town quickly dissolves away just by a short walk.
      Take care,

I loved this video Paul! Its a refreshing change to the ones that focus primarily on the more touristy side of Paignton. It was really interesting to learn about the geology and to see that cove. I really like that walk. It was nice to see it through your camera after I walked it last year when I walked out to Brixham on the coast path. Brilliant steam train over Goodrington Beach huts capture and thank you so much for the mentions and the link to my Paignton hotel video at the end of this video.

      Glad you enjoyed it.
It was a lovely walk to do and to meet my friends from work afterwards - it was good to catch up.
It is amazing geology and mind boggling to think about the millions of years involved when it was created.
      Take care,
      Paul

Thank's for a very informative explore of some ancient rocky coves - almost deserted - though not surprising given the more easily accessible, well-manicured beaches at Paignton. I remember travelling on the steam railway for a holiday in Kingswear in the 1960's, when I presume Goodrington station was still open - though I cannot recall. Perhaps some heads need knocking together to get it open again.

Definitely as if you want to visit Agatha Christie’s home you now have to go by car and pre book a space. Used to love getting the steam train then the bus. But they won’t reinstall it don’t know why as it was always busy.

Yes, Greenway Halt has been closed too, along with Goodrington and Churston. It is even more bizzare as it wasn't opened that long ago, and the roads to Greenway aren't great. I used to go via the foot ferry from Dittisham, but I was very fortunate to live within an hour's walk from Dittisham.
I do hope that the powers that be see sense and reopen all three of them.
      Thank you for the comment.

I really did enjoy this walk, and it was good too to catch up with my old colleagues again.
      Thanks for a great comment.
I do hope that sense can be seen and these stations reopened again.
      Cheers,

Hello Paul - greetings from a very warm Slupno in Poland, this Sunday morning.
A superb and very interesting video. What a lovely walk along the coast. So much to see and and do.
Your video has been shared with my friend David cox who comes from Paignton and is currently teaching English in a school in China!

      Good morning Michael!
Not so sunny here in Gloucestershire at the moment - glad you have a warm day there in Slupno!
Thank you so much for sharing my video - hope your friend enjoys watching it from China, but I hope it doesn't make him feel homesick.
Thanks so much Michael - I am currently editing a canal series video that I shot yesterday and writing the script for another that I hope to film soon.
      Have a great Sunday!
      Paul

Hello Paul- I very much enjoyed the upbeat music played for only a short time at the beginning of the video- it set the scene for a very pleasant walk along the coast to White Rock. I do hope the cinema gets to open next year- mostly you hear of them closing down.
I also liked how the railway paralleled your walk! Thank you too for all the geology’ you showed en route!

Glad you enjoyed it ☺️ I certainly enjoyed the walk and catching up with former work mates.
It is a lovely area, and good to find quiet spots away from the town centre.
      Take care,
      Paul

Hi Paul. That was a lovely walk with lots to see. Weve only walked to Goodrington from Paignton before so it was nice to see the clifftops & little coves that weve yet to visit. Weve been to the harbour many times but didnt know sbout thr little beach just beyond it. A great find. Not too keen on Paignton as it csn get busy & noisy but the rest of the coastline along there is lovely. 😊😊

      Glad you enjoyed it.
I hadn't come across Fairy Cove before - interesting name too; I wonder how that came about?
I agree with you about the town centre of Paignton, but it is good that quieter areas are only shortish walks away.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
      Cheers!
      Paul
