    Thank you for watching!
Also, I am aware that I moronically called a dial a ‘compass.’ Vintage tech is not my speciality!

Loved the entire video.....the neon signs are something we should bring back in a big way. I know we can't go back but we can sure copy some of the ideas from our past into future once more. 👍

Yes, I fully support a neo-neon revival. Glad you enjoyed the video, this one was a lot of fun to produce!

It's exciting just seeing the flashy signs. I'd just love an running ASMR staring at it for as long as possible XD
Not many exist, but still plenty of them!

You are lucky to stay at that motel. I stayed in Tucumcari, NM once driving back from Disneyland in Anaheim, CA to my home state of the Kentucky. I sadly winded up at the boring Days Inn down the road in Tucumcari, NM so I missed out on the Blue Swallow Motel. I ought to take a detour on my next trip to Denver, CO and stay at the motel and go to Carlsbad Caverns if I am not going to Disneyland, but probably the Blue Swallow Motel was sold out when I was in town.

If you happen to be passing by (on the off season like I was here,) then they usually aren't booked and I reserved the room about an hour before I arrived in town. But they warned me that any time between March and October they will usually be totally booked well in advance. I hope you can stay here sometime, it is 100% worth it!

That "Antique Compass" was (I believe) a TV Antenna power rotary from the '60's. IOW, it would turn an antenna on top of a house.

that is correct it is to turn an antenna on top of the house.

Lol. It’s not a compass on the desk. It’s an old electric antenna direction dial. You could turn the antenna to get distant over the air stations in the day. It’s for show only now with cable.

Okay, thank you for that info, my uneducated guess was definitely not correct lol. That makes a lot of sense now, thank you for watching.

I've always wanted to go to this motel! I remember them copying it in Cars land at Disneyland lol. Actually I was wondering if you would mind if I used some of your footage from this video as B roll in a music video I'm making ! The music video theme is road tripping but since I can't actually go to every location I am trying to find clips to use. Let me know!! Thank you and great video!

      Hi Sage,
Yes feel free to use my footage in your music video. I also have videos on other roadside spots like the Wigwam Motel in Arizona and Conoco Tower in Texas (both inspirations for Cars Land) if that's useful. Good luck with your project, I'll look forward to seeing it!

P.S. - if anyone has any other cool old-fashioned diner recommendations along Route 66 (I've only been to Tucumcari) I would love to hear them! Loved del's and a place called Kix on 66 there.

Yes, "Lois" still works and is intended to be used by guests since the rooms don't have their own mini fridges. The area that is now the courtyard at the Motel Safari was originally the swimming pool.
