Have to admit it that the MP Skids looks a hell of a lot better than the XTB one due to the paint alone, but I think the MP's head may be a little bit too small.

Thanks TMan. I am grabbing both, and have Savant and the XTB repaint. I like Savant a bit better in bot mode, but I'm a sucker and will have two from each company.
I’m split on it, the unpainted parts being made of mainline quality plastic is frustrating but i personally enjoy less paint because that means that the figure can be handled with less worry on paint chipping or scuffs, one of my biggest negatives with masterpiece megatron. Another thing I’d like to mention is I love how the front windshield doesn’t have a scary snap off from the car’s hood like XTB

Think because they went with the licence with Honda, they've gone big on the old MP looks, with essentially the MP+ line paint. Think it'll be a 1 off, as the Seekers, and no doubt the Coneheads and probably the MP Cliffjumper will all be back to toon looking. Nice comparison, I'm in for Skids!!

Thanks for the review, These look good. Much better than MP-45 Bumblebee, which I think was about the same price. These are not for me, but I do appreciate seeing them and hearing your opinion about them.
The last bumblebee was $40 more
I grabbed Reboost but happy with keeping XTB for Skids.
I'll allow it
MP Skids looks quite good & its lower price point makes this an easy purchase for me. I think this not being hyper toon accurate is more due to Skids lack of appearances in the cartoon than it being indicative of Takara going back to Hasui era designs. I have a feeling that with these obscure characters like Skids they'll do the toy hybrid look but for heavy-hitter characters like say Jazz or an eventual Grimlock 2.0 it'll be entirely toon centric like many of the recent MPs.

Great comparison review 👍🏽, and agree I don’t have these yet but just by looking at the photo’s it didn’t look like a MP with the hollow areas inside the thighs and mushroom peg wrist for its size. But I will get reboot I like the mold better than the skids. XTB already did a great job on Skids I guess these are good for what the price is.
Mushroom peg wrist aren't new. Most MP figs hands come right off.

Nice detailed review as always. I ordered Skids because he was (hardly) in the cartoon, but I might prefer Reboost (OP's "little brother" lol) as a figure.

@@TMan978 I really like Savant but I like alt modes to scale as much as possible and he's really like 1:24. He displays well with Alternators.
Tbh MP Skids is still probably too big (then I have to hold out for Legacy) but I'd like to get him.

The Masterpiece G1 Skids mold needs a version 2.0 mold. He ALMOST looks G1 cartoon model-accurate.

I so wish they painted Skid's thighs silver. That color breakup would've helped him enormously! I won't get Reboost because I have too many red Autobots as it is, but individually he does look cooler.

I appreciate the honor of the OG figures by making this a much more simplified and easier-to-transform MP than the convoluted messes that have been released recently. Looking at the trio of Bee, Prime, and Hound.
It's refreshing but I love articulation
I think you forgot to use the joint near where the thighs join to the hip to move them out. Will give the waist a wider stance.

Why? MP are bigger than CHUG. Most likely, they are taller than Earthrise Optimus Prime. They would tower over Ironhide and all the other car bots

I have savant, don't want to replace him nor am I interested in reboost. I'm waiting for crosscut so I can have the two of a kind cars with different transformations
Must have been pretty expensive to bring both in at once.
Both of these are almost $100 cheaper than it was to get fans toy sound wave
MP class is a total joke these days. There is NOTHING that sets this figure apart from a retail release other than the pricetag.
