  • This episode is all about making subtle shifts in the overall Arabian theme of the area, with first a Moroccan minaret, followed by a street full of Egyptian Mamluk-era inspired facades.

    One of the things I love best about watching you, Silv, is the history and architecture lesson that goes with it. In my previous life as a researcher, I did a lot of work in the 1890s for author friends of mine and I agree: while not my favourite historical era, per se, the world architecture stood at some of the most varied: down to the post-Victorian era stuff in the USA and Europe and Federation (1901ish) in Australia. Modern stuff is all very well, bt it's also very samish and the world is becoming vey architecturally homogenous. :D
    Also, this looks amazing.

    Loving this series silv! Honestly one of my favorite things to watch right now. If this continues to be a full-fledged park, I was thinking, with three areas already being Arabian, Moroccan and Egyptian themed, a cool idea would be to base future regions of the park on different countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea, like Greece, Spain, Croatia, etc. That way, walking around the park makes you feel like you're on a trip around the Mediterranean, with the central waterfront representing the Mediterranean Sea. Plus, it'd be cool to see you try your hand at all those different styles, especially with your attention to detail.

    Silv, you mention how most parks would lump all of these areas together and just call them “Arabian” themed and how you want to make them separate in a distinct yet subtle way… I think one way for the everyday person to see that is by assigning each small themed area in Arabian Aerobats a color and using various shades of it through out that area… making areas that are next to each other have colors that are near to each other in the spectrum (ie giving the Persian area turquoises and greens, then giving the Egyptian area blues… then once you have them blocked out with color, go in and choose a few objects here and there and changing them to a different color like orange or purple, just to break things up, but still having an overall feeling that the area you are in is slightly different to the one up the street. I hope that made sense… I’m happy to reword or explain any part of this if anyone is confused or has questions…

    • @Silvarret
      @Silvarret  Год назад +2

      That makes a lot of sense, I love the idea! Not sure exactly how it can be worked into the (largely already built) areas without being too obvious/distracting from the buildings themselves, but I definitely want to think about it. Will mention it in the next video to see if anyone has ideas.

    Regarding the computer, I've found that at some point the game buckles regardless of hardware. I'm on a 10700k, RTX 3080, 32 GB of RAM and my major projects with multiple hundreds of thousands of pieces still perform well under 60 FPS. My biggest project ran at about 20-25 FPS on my previous PC (7700k, GTX 1080, 16 GB RAM), and when I upgraded I tested it out and it was running at like 35 on my new PC. More traditional games performed at well over double the framerate on my new PC compared to the old one, but Planet Coaster is quirky and doesn't scale with hardware like most games once you have a sufficiently built out park.

    The art work you’ve made while building the buildings is amazing! I’ve noticed you have a couple rooftop accessible areas, like the front of the main show building and under the first drop, I feel a rooftop area on the street for a smaller house would also go well in the build. Where the access for the second level (looks like) it comes from the street and not inside. With stone stairs leading from the street to a small balcony with a door to the floor. However, you would need a rope or something to keep the guest from going up there (imagining they actually could).

    Planet Coaster is a CPU intensive game so past a certain point it doesn't matter how good your PC gets. The bottleneck at this point is that the game engine itself does not scale with CPU core count (same is true with 99.9% of the game industry). CPUs have mostly capped at how fast an individual core will get and instead scale using number of cores.
    I could be wrong, but even if they make a Planet Coaster 2 it will not run any better unless they finally develop a game engine for modern CPUs.
    All of this is to say: as much as I would love an entire Silvarret park in this series, it isn't going to happen unless he drastically reduces the piece count on every single build.

    Ummm… Hear me out! So how about a playlist / series on building scenery like this?
    As a beginner, I suck at making anything in this game and do not understand the basics of creating ornate things.
    Like everything that you do in this series go into detail about on how to make. (But very simplified)
    The custom railings, walls and wall pieces, structures, supports, windows, and the spinning and flipping of objects and shortcuts, copy and pasting, just everything you think we should know go into a little bit of detail about. How to group your objects so everything aligns so easily. Just everything essential for a beginner to understand because I need HELP it takes like 2 mins to flip one piece and align it, and even that is an understatement.
    As a beginner, I would REALLY appreciate a playlist about building and scenery creation from such an advanced player. 🥲❤

      I've been thinking of (hold on to your horses) making a Shorts channel about these kinds of things. Most of the things that help in playing the game like this are short tricks that are hard to work into a long form tutorial (unless it's a 20-something-tips-on-whatever type video).
