FINALLY, I now understand how shipping works on Shopify. I could never figure out why, if people had their Printify linked to Shopify, they were also setting up shipping rates on Shopify. I always thought that whatever the customer paid for the shirt from your Shopify store, part of it went to Printify for the shirt and shipping, and the seller got what was left over. Not true. Printify changes the SELLER, not the customer. If you want to recover the shipping cost, they you have to charge the customer for it. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was just about ready to give up on it.
so if a customer pays for shipping on spotify, where does that money go? I thought charging shipping on shopify offsets the shipping cost of printify...
I’m selling canvas’ and when I click on a canvas to put a design on, the description says the shipping fee is no more than $14.99. When I post the item for sale, the shipping cost is over $40. This happen to anyone else?
So I'm here because I did my taxes and I saw that I was LOSING MONEY BIG TIME...by that I mean I was making 3 to 5 dollars per item which made no sense because I set my profit margin on my Printify store at 40-50%.... How am I being charged 45 dollars for a 60 dollars sale but making "50 dollars" that basically 50-45. I didn't even know it was happening until I did my taxes. I was too stunned to cry. I contacted printify via FB messenger and was told "no discrepancies" based on my shipping. So I'm here to see if maybe someone can educate me and seeing if printify is NOT for me. I gotta find a way to not lose money.
EDIT: So I watched till the end and this was amazing thank you dear. I know what I am doing wrong now. I will apply everything you've taught me.
Thank you so much for this video! I've been going back and forth building my shopify store being super motivated, and then feeling unmotivated because I wasn't quite sure how Printify worked. I still have questions but at this side of it I feel much better. Thank you!!
I had the same exact, feeling and thought process...you explained it well...motivated then not.
THANK YOU!!!! I loved how you explained everything so clearly! Thank you so much!
Can't you use the money you get from Shopify to PAY FOR PRINTIFY?
Can't you use the money you get from Shopify to PAY FOR PRINTIFY?
Thanks so much for this! shipping profiles are a must.
Thank you! I have been trying to understand why my orders have not gone through. But on my billing the shipping is waaaayy high....like $33+ ...I don't understand that because it should have been only $4.99...help!
Thank you sis! I literally had to hold off my copywriter cause I did not understand shipping fee and rates!
Thank You for being REAL 😊
I need money in my BANK lmao
DefinedBy Alex ? I have 2 questions for you, because Im new to print on demand. question 1: What would happen if a customer wants a refund and return the t-shirt, do you still get charged for all those fees or will they refund everything ? question 2: What would happen if customers order $9000.00 worth of t-shirts, but you don't have enough funds in your bank account to cover all the production fees and shipping ?
Thankyou so much! So if shipping from printify were expensive, say $20.00 to ship a canvas. Would it be smart to charge part of that shipping cost (so increase product by 15$ for example) into your canvas and then change the profile shipping rate to only $5?
Yup, that's the strategy others are using. The #1 reason why buyers abandon their cart is because of high shipping rates. So it's a good strategy to make the shipping cost cheaper, then just add the extra cost to the product price.
@@LuKaa316 What do you do if the customer buys 2 items? I'll get charged for shipping twice by production companies so it seems like I'm losing money by charging one flat rate?
@@Mermaid03_03 How do you price your product? The price should cover the cogs + shipping fee (& etsy fees) + margin. That way you can also offer free shipping w/c may help you get more traffic. You'll also get more profit doing this because printify will only gonna charge you half the shipping cost for additional items.
@@LuKaa316 I think one of the issues i experienced today is that a customer bought 2 items from 2 different POD (Printify and Printed Mint) companies so there was no discount for additional items. I still managed to make some profit but PM's shipping fees are outrageous. Moving my top sellers from PM to Printify should help with that.
@@LuKaa316 and thank you so much for the advice!! I didn't know they only charged half for add. Items.
When I first started this like 2 weeks ago I thought it was like kdp. They just send you the the money in your account. And I didn't understand I would have to pay for the shirt. Anyways just imagine how shocked I was when all this money was taken out of my account lol. And Everything was on hold because I didn't set up my payment or give them my card to pay them what I owed. I thought all that was connected to my card on etsy. It was a horrid mess.
It's simple if you only sell in usa, what about Japan, Europe? And if you have multiple products not just T-Shirts? Can you do free shipping 'per regions?'
thank you so much for this! could not figure out how to fix my shipping until I watched this😭
The integration between Printify, Shopify and Facebook Shops is HORRENDOUS.
So helpful, just made my printify and published two products but was so confused on the high price for shipping. Not realizing I was using there pop up shop instead of connecting my own. Problem is ETSY put my page on vacation
What if your sweatshirt is $8.45 for shipping, what would you charge? Or let’s say they get both a sweatshirt and T-Shirt, how is it charged on Printify??
Thank you so very much for that information. I was confused a little bit about how Printify I would get their money. I thought that their was a mechanism that would let Printify get paid from the sell of the product! So I have to pay for the product before the product is actually printed and shipped.
I don't understand why a pack of playing cards has to cost $17.00 to just ship
Hi! I understand that this is what my shipping profile should look like, but I am very confused on setting it up. How do I create different shipping zones for sweatshirts and t-shirts? Can you do a step-by-step video on how to set up what you have done here?
So i only have to pay for the shipping or i have to pay for the product first and get back the money + the profit from the client?
So it seems to make more sense to have just one supplier. I am just starting out and have multiple suppliers but with that, someone could order from each of them in one order (unbeknownst to them) and each provider will charge their own shipping, and, when added up could be more than the products themselves. There seems to be no way to judge how much you should raise your price per product to accommodate for such things because you can't judge who will order how much from which supplier in any one given order. Has anyone else run into this issue?
Hello - DefinedBy Alex, this was really helpful. Thanks
I see that Printify says how long a certain printer will take to print something but they don't specify shipping time/days?
Hello, can you please help me? I have been struggling for months to get an answer to my question. When a customer places an order on my Shopify store, does Printify deduct their fees from my account before fulfilling the order and delivering it to the customer? Or do they wait until the order is complete and the full payment, including my profit, is in my account before deducting their fees? and then they deduct their fees? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you."
I'm new to printify and shopify, need help with pricing, seems my prices are way too high after I include production, and shipping, but noticed other channels pricing for same items are a lot less , am I doing something wrong?
Hi
I changed my rates on my delivery settings in shopify properly but they are not updating on my website
Help pls
Super clear! Thank you!
Greta video Alex. Super appreciated!
no problem!
Pls what tshirt brand are you wearing
It seems most sites encourage free shipping. Do you ever add the shipping price (say the $4) to your selling price and then have free shipping? If so, what has seemed to work best, the lower price but pay for shipping or a higher price tag but they get free shipping?
Damn Damn damnnnn i thought they take the money after the customer buys smh now i gotta link my business card/account instead of personal
Are you making $16 every shirt, or $3 every shirt because it cost you $13 to make?
Do you know why Etsy would vacation a new storefront and how would I get that fixed?
So i have question so does printify ship it directly to the customer?
If a customer is getting 2 shirts in one order, does printify charge you $4 per shirt in shipping?
This was very helpful but I was hoping to see how to do also other countries as I have friends in AUS, and I know it’s super spendy to ship to AUS. Can you also have profiles for AUS and it will change the price they pay?
You set your own shipping prices, but you will still need to pay printify the same amount to ship. So you would need to raise to cost of the item where it would be worth it for you, or live with less profit.
Hello, thank you so much for this video. This clear and easy to understand.
I would like to ask if you got order and printify get their payment , when will you get your payment from the order from shopify?
Thank you so much. I'm planning to start this week.
Thank you presented so well and you know your subject.
So you only net $2.73 from that one order..? Is that right?
Wow, THANK YOU. I was almost ready to give up on Shopify because the shipping set up seemed so confusing. YOU are a gem!
Thank you for the video, you made it easy to follow
hi. looking for answers. i will be selling products from different printer providers. now i calculated how much that provider charges me and the additional item. making sample orders to see how it will look like to me , found out if a get a product from one provider and another product from a different provider the shipping sums up, example mww on demand 4.99 plus monster digital 4.29. now where it gets tricky is when theres an additional item from the same provider or different. like how am i gonna know which items and from what provider the customer is gonna choose for me to be able to establish a shipping rate for the customer? is this happened to you? its easy if u have only one print provider but when theres like three im looking for a way out thanks if u have something in this area i appreciate it.
Hi, @definedByalex I have the same questions as well and would really like to know how you would solve this issue in shipping. Because depending on how much my customer buys I will be charged for every additional item? The shipping can really fluctuate so I was also curious on how you deal with this issue?
I’m just starting my stores, and this was my number one question that I didn’t understand. Thank you so much with all this information.
on a sample order do you pay the total costs or the order retail value
Fantastic explaining! You were very thorough, clear, and adorable. Thank you for helping us understand this much easier! 💛
You are so welcome!
Thanks, I'm just starting my brand.
Printify shipping costly for me
i cant find anyone that talks about the taxes tho.. the taxes is what fucks up your profit. and i really want someone to explain it and help us
It depends on what kind of business you're running. Some sole proprietorships will be subject to pay quarterly taxes while bigger corporations are subject to pay up to once or twice but they are subjected to more taxes than sole proprietorships (like federal, employer, etc.). Any business can charge with sales taxes, but you have to be vigilant that each state has a different tax brackets and at least 5 don't tax. You will have to see if you can file for exemption before the deadline dates, report any loss of business (mostly at the fourth quarter), or if you selling stuff like merchandise using printing services then you can get a resale certificate to exempt you from any sales tax and uses there (otherwise you'll suffer from more losses). You definitely need to speak to a CPA who knows this in a much deeper depth.
Does printify only print designs made on the printify website? For example I have products that I designed on another platform and set those products up on my Wix website. Will printify print these items also or only the products that were designed through printify?
Great video! I had no idea that the POD model charged the seller for the product whole time I just they got their money off the difference between the product made and the selling price. If the model is set up like this, what is the best way to keep my bank account from going negative(as the seller) if they are taking the money out after 24 hours? What is a good cushion to keep in the account being that sales are unpredictable? Or is the customer pays and then Printify charges my account? What is the order of what comes out first, middle, and last? Thanks so much!
You talk so much and say nothing
Mine does not show profit breakdown. Does the breakdown differ from shop to shop? I work with Etsy as well as Shopify but I started few days ago so I don’t have that knowledge. Thanks for your work.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thanks great job!!!😃
I’m still struggling with my shipping profiles. Printify seems awfully expensive. For example….I have a magnet for sale on my shop and printify wants to charge $9.99 to ship it….so should I raise the price of the magnet by $9.99 to mitigate the cost? I will rewatch this video until it makes sense to me but any input is appreciated! 🙏🏻
Wow, thank you so much for your explanation, I have gone through youtube trying to find out how I need to to price my items, as Well as, add the shipping, It can be quite confusing., Nevertheless, I still have questions about. Pricing my items on Etsy, with Printify, do you have any videos, that explains it??? and thanks so much for the video, it was so helpful. ;)
Hi, thank you for your video. I've learned a lot about shipping but I still have a couple of questions & was hoping to hear what USPS does printify is using? How long would it take for the package to be delivered after production time? And what if I add a shipping upgrage like express delivery, how will Printify fulfill that?
Woww your video popped up for me because I needed this😭💯
Thank you for breaking it down to plainly!
Thank you!!! I've been searching how to set up my shipping rate. I only understood when you explained it. ❤
greaaaat video!!!
Thank you for this video! It was so so SO helpful! :))
Thank you!! I have been wanting to literally start my own T-shirt business but didn’t know where to start. So Shopify let’s you manage your e-commerce store and printify manages the tshirt inventory and printing so the product can go straight to the customer? Right?
So it’s not possible to use the customers money after they’ve made their purchase to pay printify? Why does it have to come out your bank account?
Thanks for your question!
I’m explaining this in my next video!
@@DefinedByAlex hey is the video coming out today?
OMG, Thank you! We bought our first shirt ourselves, and couldn't figure out that we also had to pay for Printify. Also, have just noticed that Shopify didn't charge me for taxes. Guess I will have to do that.
Thank you so much for this info!! I was wondering why my shipping costs were being set so high for my customers, but now I know it was because my shipping profiles weren’t set properly. It was my no. 1 feedback issue. Thank you!!!!
THANK YOU cause this was super helpful, after watching a bunch of different videos yours did answer all of my questions! :)
I sold my first two products on Etsy today and printify and their print partners is who I used to print the products. My understanding is that Printify’s print partner will print and send out the product to my customers correct?
how do i make the printify app the default location? It keeps needing me to put a physical location in and I cant make the printify app the default location in the settings
Thank you❤
Great video
THANK YOU!!!!!
Great Video, very informative! I have a question... So when a customer makes a purchase how long will that transaction be processed?
Really helpful video. Explained alot of areas i couldnt really understand.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. Your videos have helped me so much in my attempt to get my business going. Thank you again for what you do. GOD Bless you!!!
Once again dropping gemology 👏
I love this video, you have a very understandable explanation I soooo appreciate that!
Great video, very useful and insightful and well explained 👍👍
Alex you are Amazing!!!!!!Would you do a tutorial on step by step Shopify for beginners. Thank you.
Thank you for your detailed information ❤
Hi, I am new to this. Just started. I'm having a hard time understanding how the profit works, does it automatically do it for me or do I need to set up my own profit?
hi :) Great video :) however, what is the point to use Printify? Why not contact print providers directly?
Voting you for number 1 QUEEN of the year
Thank You so much for your time and transparency..I will be starting my tshirt biz soon..working on designs & creating a website.
This video was great. Thank you!
Extremely helpful! Thank you!!!
Exactly what I needed, thank you so much. Liked and subscribed
This helped a bunch, thanks sis!❤
Thank you so much. That was very informative. I actually wanted know how to fill out the order to come to me because I would like to sell the products from home before I try online selling. I already have order requests as soon as I receive the products or do think I should go for it and sell online?
Omg thank you so so much! exactly what I need to hear, will you make more shopify+ printify tutorials please?
Liked for your introduction alone 🫶🏾
Hi Alex. Thank you for sharing another one. I am a new sub looking to get in the t-shirt game. When using Printify where are you able to get prints and/or printing to place on the shirts? I am 52 and this is all new to me. I recently discovered your channel and am trying to catch up on all of your videos.
yes you have explained but it would've take the same video to explained how you set up those shipping methods.
I researched about sales tax and test out about Printify charging customers of merchant dont have nexus but I didn’t see taxes when I did a test. Any insight?
Do you have your printify shop connected to something like Etsy? If so, printify won’t charge sales tax you’re exempt because Etsy charges it.
This really helped out thank you
What if they purchase more than one item? I know you have free shipping after $50.00 but my items are different sizes and different weights. They're not T-shirts. How would I set it up for that?
You will have to set up a shipping profile in Shopify or whatever online domain you're using.
