I purchased some D9s over the winter. Much bigger heads then my other irons, and they go so much further. People don’t like how loud they are, but I love that high pitched sound when you hit the center of the club.
Ive had my di9 irons for years and love them really good clubs
I love everything about Wilson, always have always will.
What I would like to know is how they compare to the d9 and d9 forged
Got fitted for a set of these a while back. Was blown away by the distances, I was blasting a 7 over 200
Thanks for doing this video Gabe! I could gladly bag the whole Wilson line and be proud of it this year. I can’t wait to see your review of these irons online and maybe throw in some of the fairway woods in a review also and see how they perform. Keep the great stuff coming!
Like many others I really enjoy your videos and reviews. Gonna have to wait a few years to be able to spring for these but they look VERY promising
Ebay. If you’re looking for cheaper nice clubs, don’t be afraid of buying used. And now is the time with all these new sets coming out.
I picked up a set of adams xtd forged irons for $200, and I just recently found a set of mizuno grain forged Mx-23 irons for $95
Both sets in excellent condition.
Went for a first fitting in American golf 3 weeks ago and the fitter suggested this club and felt really good. Titanium driver 4 hybrid and 5-sw. £1274 for the whole set.
I've only played for just over a year and as expected a lot of big slices and during the fitting I didn't hit one slice. I don't know if it was something to do with the club or the fitting was really good.
Having said that still waiting for the set to arrive. Can't wait to take them out. Thank you for your review
How did you get on with them?
Tested these Dyna power irons last weekend at the PGA Tour SuperStore in Orlando and I’ll tell ya what…. If you are missing some distance from your game these are the irons for you ! WOW !!! +30 yards on a 7 iron and with a reg flex shaft. 200 yard 7 iron is crazy. And felt so good. As good as any Srixon or Mizuno cavity that I hit.
I hit 190 every single time with insanely good dispersion with that 7i.. it was litterally only 189 to 191 yards after around 20 Shots.
I bought the set. I love them
It’s interesting that they shifted more mass towards the toe, and they didn’t have to use tungsten. It’s a smart way Wilson did that while still being able to keep costs down.
Many of us do not get to change our clubs that often, once bought they may even be in the bag decades. My wife bought me a set of Callaway Steelhead X-14s in 2000. They were my first cavity backed clubs, having struggled with a second hand set of blades before that. Last Christmas she bought me a set of PXG 0311 Gen 5s. The difference in feel and performance is stunning. But a 23 year technology gap should make a difference. Comparing old clubs to new would make an interesting series of videos, especially when many viewers probably still play with old sets of clubs.
5-7 years is the appropriate technology gap regarding golf equipment meaningful improvement… The manufacturers want you to believe that every two years they come up with the next big thing but that’s really mostly hyperbole…meaning that your equipment is relevant for 5-7 years. In reality and in my experience it’s about 10 years before a golf technology comes along that will make a marked difference. Plus we have to factor in our physical demise as it were. Twenty years is a bit long to wait but we aren’t all lucky enough to change as frequently as technology dictates. I pay close attention to the other technologies that also play a large part in equipment advancement… ie … shaft and even grip technology.
@@mattmershon3542 Nice reply - thanks
Love Wilson golf. Very cool products, clubs and balls.
Very interesting Gabe, from a very good golf manufacturer. Always seem to be underrated by the public. I had the Fat Shafts many years ago in the UK.
Still have my set of Wilson Fat Shafts. And they strike as well as my more modern club sets even to this day.
You mentioned you're working on increasing speed, do you have a video on what you are doing to improve it?
I appears these are best in Value Class. If I had not just bought Callaway Rogue ST MAX OS last Year I would seriously consider these.
I bought a set and love them. Really long and forgiving.
Classic course, classic clubs. Great video
I'll be interested to see what these irons do when you take them out on the course. They don't seem to be the irons for you. I suspect you'd not be able to get proper gapping at the top end of the bag and would need 5 wedges given how far you were hitting that 9 iron. However, they may work well in the hands of someone with a slower swing speed. Are you planning to put a new set of irons in the bag this year?
My first Full Set was Wilson K28+'s, loved them for 20 yrs, but, eventually couldn't hit them as far anymore, 6 iron only 145 yrds , it used to be 160.. now play M4s
Great review. Can you do a comparison between these and my current gamers? seems the tech is about the same besides those speed pockets on the bottom. Oh, I'm still gaming Ping Eye2's. Thank Gabe, awesome review.
Gabe how would you compare these to the Wilson D9 irons. I believe you tested those last year.
Love the videos! I highly suggest switching camera options on foresight to "Chase -> Catch Up" the aggressive zoom you have set right now is nausiating haha
Low strikes, can you say it with me...SPEEED SLOTS!! I use the WS D7 forged and love them for everything, feel, height, spin, dispersion. My favorite irons ever.
Dude I love your channel and I’m so jealous of your in to out swing. I have a lab out to in and can’t get anything to click to have the swing like you
Peak height and descent angle are completely unplayable. what were the lofts? Seem like they are super jacked. 9 iron probably a 7 iron loft?
Dynapower woods are money. Have a 7 wood which I bought for 160£ (brand new) and this thing is a green finder from 200+yards. Folks, get off your 4/5 woods and put a 7 wood in the bag. The Wilson will not disappoint.
Hell, with those strong iron lofts, you could play a round just using a Driver (and maybe a 3-W), with the 3, 5, 7 and 9 irons and either a 52*, 56* or 60* wedge (throw in a SW just in case), and your putter, so an eight/ nine-club set.
Thats all I carry when I take my weekend travel bag, but my lofts and gapping are a bit different (Driver - 10.5*, 3-W: 15*, 3-I: 21*, 5-I: 27*, 7-I: 35*, 9-I: 43*, PW: 48*, SW: 56*), and my putter.
Using an 8 or 9 iron for a bump and run shot is a lost art, and a PW and SW can be used to replace NUMEROUS other lofted wedges.
Play Smarter, Not Harder!!!
Great review always enjoy your videos. Would love to see you on the course with a full bag of Dynapower clubs.
I will definitely test them also going to test Stealth, Paradym. Already tested Ping G430 very nice.
Currently play T300 but as a senior 15 handicapper if I can get some more distance with forgiveness then will change.
Greetings from 🇬🇧.
.
11:42 A descent angle of 35.2* is not going to stop on the green. Even if the mishit with 25.6* descent angle is deleted the average is still only 37.7*. One generally looks for a descent angle of 45* with 7-iron. Peak height is also low. More loft is needed. My 7-iron has 34* loft, 45* descent angle, 165 yard carry, and I will hold greens.
Yeah 66 ft avg seems too low for any iron. I guess with this set you need 8-gap and a bunch of hybrids
They are some stunning looking irons
I'm really digging the Wilson gear for sure.
Yeah great value prop for sure
Oh I forgot to mention I have a set of the irons and driver and three-wood can't wait to get out to play them. Hit the demo felt great.
I'm glad I subscribed. Another awesome video I enjoy watching the good golfer like you give out good information thanks once again
great review Gabe....cheers
So, I would assume with your 9i going 160 yards, I would assume the PW would go 150 for you. I don’t think you would find GW which would go 140. Seems like with these jacked up lofts, you would have serious distance control from 100-150 yards, which are your scoring range.
What is your handicap mate? Nice review! I wanted to buy Srixon zx4 at the next sale, but now I really have to review my choice :)
how do these Wilson stack up against the Wilson D 9 forged irons...This are really good irons for the price and quality...
Respect how you leave the miss hits in the video
How do they compare to the D9 ?
The numbers are similar to my D9’s amazing clubs from Wilson, are you taking the Driver out on course
What are the degrees of loft on these irons. Is the 9 the same as an old 7?
I do believe you need to go to regular shafts.
Please please do an on course review of the TaylorMade Stealth HD irons, we need your take on them! 😁
They look just my D9s. Is there any noticable difference between the two? Love the D9s btw!
Dynapower way better >
Looks, feel, sound-wise, VERY similar. From a performance perspective, you’re going to get more distance with these ones and most other characteristics are the same.
Great review Gabe, I was hoping it was gonna be the tour edge C723 driver today !!!
That review is shot and being edited as we speak
Thank you Gabe !!
How do the irons compare to the D9 irons? Thanks
I’d love the distance from the irons but seems like they don’t stick to the green
I have the D9’s and don’t see much difference except for the badge. Offset, loft, lie are all the same.
Do they have fairway woods and hybrids or utility irons?
Would like to see you try the Wilson D9 Forged
Awesome Gabe!! Would like to see you take these for a run around Carrollwood! 👏
I was really thinking about changing out from my Mavrik irons that I got last year to continue my improvement. Wilson is for sure one of the front runners to go into my bag if I'm able to upgrade this year. The numbers you got this these irons are close to what I see with my current gamers with my PW for example being 150-155 range so I wonder what yardage numbers for someone with some power/speed might see.
I haven’t hit hit these but my iron swing sped is about 90mlh. Just for comparison, I tried the mavericks and hit my 7 iron 205
If you have speed, you wouldn’t play these irons, as the gapping would be too wide, and you’d have to carry a million wedges
@@cameronloveless1751 with the irons I actually use, I hit my 7 about 175. Plenty long enough for me. Two fairway woods and 4 wedges. Iron set is 5-pw
@@ryanwalters694 basically same speed, distance and bag set up for me. Can you imagine your 7 iron going 200+ yards? No thanks! You would have ridiculous gapping at the bottom end, even if you carried 5 wedges
@@cameronloveless1751 yeah I hit that maverick iron and was like dang! Then got to thinking and was like no thank you
Mmmm Rick may have so called missed them but to be fair he was only testing the drivers but interesting video nice 👍
Gabe, if you don’t mind me saying, when you’re addressing the ball you seem tight, anxious, and nervous.
Try relaxing a bit more at address and I bet you see even better flight patterns.
Thanks for all the reviews buddy!
I’ve still got my 16 year old set of Wilson Fat Shafts and believe it or not, they play almost as well as my modern club sets which include Tour Edge Exotics C721’s and Honma TW747V forged players irons.
Most amateurs don't have baby draw like you. This club with many would have higher launch and more spin and more toe strikes.
Nice review I really don't think that 9 iron is a 9 iron if you know what I mean
You really need to take these out for a course review. I think flex designations are largely overrated, especially with steel shafts. With the same shaft model it’s largely just a slight difference in weight.
For sure, that will be tomorrow's video 😃
Dynapower for the win for mid cappers !
How was the feel of these irons? I’ve hit the D9 forged and was curious how they compared.
Super similar feel-wise and sound wise
@@LetsPlayThru wow that’s surprising considering they’re cast. The d9 forged is one of best feeling irons I’ve hit. Very classic feel.
@@LetsPlayThru I might pick these up on Wilson’s custom site. They even offer these with a sand wedge.
Like always great video👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Sorry Wilson but still can’t forgive the D7 “Power Holes” covers which on multiple different irons & replacement irons kept moving into the head … Got custom fit but guess my fitter should have mention maybe they may not have suited my swing speed/style.
What drills are u doing gabe for CHS??
Hey Mike, no particular drills, just working on flexibility and getting my hands higher
These don't fit you at all. Most fitters stop the progression of an iron set once you drop below 45 degree descent angle (balls ability to hold a green). Usually that's around a 4 or 5 iron (6 iron for seniors). You had a descent angle of 42 degrees with the 9 iron (and that's with an R flex shaft). In order to hold a green after the 9 iron you'd need to incorporate hybrids or fairway woods. And to get that 9 iron to stop where it lands would pretty much need to be a Pro V1x.
Tokomo 101's vs Dynapower. Thoughts??
Both awesome. Takomo's are for a lower handicap than the Dynapwr in my opinion.
@@LetsPlayThru Thank you!!
Not only after you vids good, you’re a god down to earth person who takes care of his viewers! HUGE THANK YOU!
One sounds great as a lavatory cleaner
Woof those launch and descent angles are not ideal. Probably more useful for someone who hits a fade consistently because otherwise you wind up with those rollouts like you had
Gabe your mere mortel status is being challenged after watching this video!! 🤪 🐊
For real!!! 💪
Those are almost too long. It would be hard to gap these with my wedges. It’s impressive but I’d like to see how they do when you have that 125 yard wedge shot you know you will have to hit.
I had the D9’s for two rounds and sold them, spin was way to low, these look worse. A 7iron should be around 6k off a mat, 42-4500 ain’t gonna cut it for me.
Rick was reviewing the drivers only
Numbers like that, you’re no longer a Mere Mortal!
I hit my JPX900 HOT METAL 9i about 150y stock. PW the same if a great lie. Imagine if I hit that 5i , Wilson?
30 yards of roll sounds like its going to be too inconsistent. Distance isn't everything IMO.
I 100% agree, that’s why next vid will be on course to see how it plays out
13 yrds I saw
Swap out the head and try that shaft in another club. That's crazy ball speed for a 9 unless your a Pro.
5000 spin for a 7 iron is way low!!!!! not controllable for shots into the green if you want control really.
I hate that marketing is now calling finite element analysis and computer aided design just "AI"... it's not a new technology or anything like the "AI" people are now seeing.
I tend to agree with you. I'm not sold that the manufacturers are truly using AI rather than a simply running it thru an algorithm.
@@LetsPlayThru while this sort of design isn’t my area of expertise. I’m a mechanical engineer and I know exactly the sort of things they are using, it’s not at all AI.
Sorry I did not mean online, I meant on course.
Did Rick really miss iron in a driver review?
And here we are lol
Always great to see it!
Less talented players irons. Cast head, Off set and Not enough spin generated to be an accurate club. Too much run off due to low flying projectile. Field testing required ? Woods should be included for stated price. Good vid, thanks.
What is the loft difference between you current gamers and the Wilson Dynapower?
Ah, I forgot to flash the graphic, these are 4º stronger.
Just a rebadged D9
Who looks for 17+ yards of roll out on their 9-7 irons and more on the 5. I would not play these ona bet.
Rick who? 🤣
Rick who?
😂
Snap
Bit naughty, click baiting with Rick's name.
