I've been producing for a long time. Seen hundreds of videos. You put it simply, to the point, speak clearly, and are a great teacher. I agree with all the other comments! More videos! Your so calm too. I could listen to your voice and be at ease while learning. A rare combination indeed. Well done.
Thanks Jay for your great feedback and your kind words. That's really motivating! I'm actually planning to create more video tutorials while I'm producing music. It's been a tough year surviving as an artist, producing music and making videos but the road is now open. Cheers!
I have spent the last year combing through RUclips for a good Sampler tutorial on increasing sustain, and here it is in a tutorial on pads! Amazing content, please make more videos!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. Such a simple technique but it finally allowed me to make a sound I've been wanting to figure out for such a long time.
Wow what a simple and beautiful solution for ambience - we will incorporate this into future Proxy Merchants records and other releases on Biannual Beats!
bro please do more tutorials ! I love your way of teaching , something with wavetable would be awesome like that dirty bass at the end ! sound design is something I struggle with so I would love to see more from you brother ! awesome tutorial .
Amazing technique, thanks a lot! But is the Compressor doing anything? It doesn´t have any gain reduction, but maybe I just got something wrong in understanding Compressors :)
Smart question! The compressor reduces the volume of loud sounds or amplifies quiet sounds. By pushing the threshold down, (even if you don't cut any loud sound) you can amplify quiet sounds and this was the case for me. I wanted the quiet sounds to be more visible and that gave the sound a much richer quality.
Awesome tutorial. I'm struggling to get the sound matching even if I grab your sample and follow each step exactly as you did. What magic did you do at 2:40 to get some beautiful extra colour into the sound?
There's nothing extra other than what I'm doing in the video. I'm playing a chord here( Don't quite remember the notes) but I'm guessing playing the notes together is brining some extra colours up.
When I'm dragging a sample into the sampler I'm only able to play the root note/key... the sample won't automatically transpose to all other keys... why is that? You're instantly able to play the full keyboard.

All that with a single piano sample. Amazing! Got to love how ambient music can be made.
The power of a single note is amazing.

is it possible to turn any kind of sound into ambient pads?
Yes with the same method.

what app do you use on your iphone to record?
Just the iPhone built-in recorder.
@@Tunelab1 the voice memos one?
Yes!
@@Tunelab1 thanks
Is the compressor actually doing anything?
Great video anyways!
Hey Alvin, Yes the compressor is brining up the quiet less pronounced sounds (textures).
@@Tunelab1 No, I don't think it is... The sound is below the threshold value.
Awesome video but how do I make this amazing bass Sound? :,(
I'm going to share a video for making this bass sound soon. :)
@@Tunelab1 nice, I'm subscribed :)

Super Cool, but that's not C

your compressor isn‘t doing anything smh
Great, except it doesn't sound that good.
