many people have asked me about this. i've encountered the problem in the timeline view but never in clip view. sometimes you might have to go in and doctor the loop a little bit but i'd recommend staying in the clip view for this method
this video was incredible, the way you simplified such complex things was amazing - thank you so much! routing knobs and faders is gonna be a gamechanger for me
Thank you! looper has always been a bit of a mystery for me. One of the less intuitive devices - your video worked a treat though. I ended up looping a Saw tooth chord which then turned into a dubby techno track. Wherever the muse takes you I guess 😅
i've never come across this issue but have heard about it from others. a slightly tedious way to fix that click would be to drag the loop into arrangement view and do little fades on each end of the loop. there will be an audible break in the loop but anything is better then that pesky click sound. a friend of mine who ran into this issue realized he was using the looper in arrangement view. the problem stopped when he started messing about it the clip view. the looper seems to create seamless loops easier in clip view hope this helps!
Thanks for this video! I've never quite known how/what to do with the looper tool in ableton, I'd always assumed that creating ambient music must have something to do with using the randomize to generate notes. I'm glad to have a new tool in my arsenal to work with!
the start of my recorded loops always make a small crackling sound that doesnt go away, no matter how many times i rerecord, it´s always there. any tip on how this can be solved? great video.
i've had a friend with this same issue and we couldn't find a solution. i assumed it had something to do with using the looper in session mode as apposed to clip mode. a tedious work around is to go in and trim the beginning and ends of each clip to make them seamless whenever i hear those clicks i tend to ignore them and fix them later when i track the finished song
Are you able to automate FX for each «track» that makes up the loop individually when using this technique? Might be a stupid question as I saw you reply to someone else saying everything goes on one audio track, so going by that I guess not… I don’t use Ableton (yet) so not familiar with how these addons work.
not a dumb question but you are correct!! it's just a log of stereo audio. if you have serato you could separate stems but the fun of this method is the commitment / surprising chords you didn't know you had in you!
I'm quite new to Ableton/session view so sorry if this is a dumb question... When you drag from looper into the session does this convert midi from a VST into an audio track? Thus easing the CPU load but then meaning you are committed and can't alter notes? Hopefully my question makes sense. Thanks for the chill upload either way.
@@Cenotaff yes! the looper itself runs on audio not midi. so by the time your loop is ready to drag it’s already all baked into one audio file. you just drag the audio file out into clip or session view. the clips timing will automatically be set to re-pitch - as if it was a tape loop
easy to repeat, easy to set up, easy to mindlessly accomplish beautiful results you still need to put one foot in front of the other tho … bad news for some
Great video and very helpful but I'm having a problem with my loops clipping when looping :/ Any idea what might be the solution?

@@wowflower thanks! I did in fact do some digging in clip editing and found that it was ironically the fade function on the clip causing it :)
@ awesome!! pinned your og comment so hopefully anyone else that has this problem will see

dude, that was so cool
Bob Ross vibes in this video
With the stache though - i was getting feelings... what are these feelings

exactly! the looper makes all the decisions lol
Really nice mood here.
You are appreciated
Good idea for live performances
Love this, also love the fact that you mention all the shortcuts you use for newbies. Thanks a bunch.
Really cool technique, had a blast messing around with it. Thanks!
Hard as fudge yet... Calm as fudge as well
This was amazing! thank you!
I love the technique! This set up also allows for some nice live jams, thanks for the video
yes!!! super good for live looping
this feels like a gamechanger for me - many thanks!
thank you wf! you a GOAT for this
Very cool
Hi - thanks for a fantastic video!
Any idea how to avoid clicking on the looped sessions when it has been dragged up from the looper?

I’m the 420th like ✌🏾 Super concise info my dude
setting up the looper with no sounds is so simply smart that it's painful ty
✊🥺
U change my life bro thank you

randomize is a lot of fun but i've always preferred laying in the notes like this. glad you enjoyed!
very Brian Eno like as he used a DX7 which is the operator here
Dope, Sir!🎉🎛🦾🔊
Yr..interesting,sound good .
great technique, will try that
very cooool
So cool Thanks Brother! First vid where the looper makes sense!🙏🏿🙏🏿
once you get your head around it, it's a gas!
@@wowflower totally! I tried it today, but didnt set the bar length first. So ima watch again and take notes!
Is there a way to do this without the Operator, I only have the standard version Ableton.
yeah any plug in or vst or midi instrument that makes noise will be received by the looper
@@wowflowerappreciate your advice! Great content, and unique artistry ❤
enjoyable
Hi,
Thank you for sharing this tutorial.
What sort of flute do u use & midi controller ?
Kind regards.
its just a random native american flute ingot for like 40 bucks- the midi controller i use is an akai midimix!

I’ve been thinking about picking up the Akai APC 40 Mk2
im using an akai midi mix. i had an apc40 mk1 for years and loved it! i can imagine the mk2 is even better!
