Well he did do as much as he could on those two films. He was excellent. Wish he wasn’t killed off so early in ROTS. That was the films biggest mistake. Should’ve saved that for the midpoint.
il always remember him for lord of the rings, i bet he was and seemed to be the most passionate about the books, jackson was perfect in casting lee for the part
I'll *always* remember him for Dracula. But, Mr. Lee would be insidiously proud, that to many, like yourself, he'll be remembered for the LOTR trilogy. He spent his entire career trying to distance himself from Dracula (a role that ironically served as the catalyst to get him the part in the LOTR's). When he was cast in LOTR, I was *so* happy that he was *finally* receiving mainstream acclaim. I spent most of my teenage years explaining to friends who Christopher Lee was (per my obsession with Hammer films). But, nowadays, because of Star Wars and LOTR----you no longer have to do that. People already know. Even though his performance as Dracula was and *is* my favorite----I'm so pleased that Mr. Lee was *finally* able to distance himself from the character.
Interestingly enough, he was the only member of the cast or production crew, who actually met J. R. R. Tolkien, back in the 50's in a pub Tolkien happened to frequent.
Tolk who was friends with Lee, said he was to play Gandalf if there ever was a movie adaptation. Though I think the ultimate casting decision was the correct one. I think both could do justice to either role but both were better suited to the one that fit their own suit, one a little lighter, the other darker...
Tolkien gave Christopher Lee his blessing to play Gandalf. Having Christopher Lee involved gave the films an authenticity that no other re-make or re-telling can achieve because of that. Tolkien was able to have some say in the films casting which I think is a comforting thought for fans
When the news finally says that the great Christopher Lee has passed on, rest assured that he actually went into a sarcophagus and will return a hundred years from then, fully restored, because death cannot destroy greatness such as this.
Christopher Lee will always be the most interesting of all actors. He was such a class act. Loved him as Dracula. His life before acting is quite something. I’m very happy he was in the Hobbit films. R.I.p Christopher Lee
Ha ha! I asked Christopher Lee this when walking with him to Peter Jones department store, Sloane Square one weekday afternoon, (wearing his cowboy hat); adamant that HE did the fluorescent light beam (whatever they're called) sword-fighting scenes in Star Wars. Nice to see this clip with him confirming same! Great great man much missed.
I would love to hear him answer the question about a role he turned down. I have always heard he was asked by John Carpenter to portray Dr. Loomis in the original Halloween from 1978, but turned it down & says it was the biggest regret of his career.
Here is what I want tot know, did Count Dooku know the entire time the Phantom was Palpatine and that him and his droid army were a pawn for Palpatine's plot?
@@AcujeremyHe knew of Palpatine's plan as did Darth Maul as he tells Palpatine in AOTC "the war has begun" to which Palpatine tells him that everything is going as planned but he didn't know he was a pawn towards Anakin being his successor until his fight with him with Palpatine present. If you look closely he gives a disgraced glance towards Palpatine after Palpatine tells Anakin to kill him. It mirrors in many respects to Anakin/Darth Vader versus Luke on the Death Star II where Palpatine is also present and egging Luke to make the same choice.
@@zoetropeguardian Well we cannot know what Darth Mail knows because on screen it isn't shown if Maul knows Palpatine is Sideous. @@Acujeremy Darth Maul knows. He tells him in TPM that at last we (the Sith) will have revenge. They're walking on the balcony of Palpatine's Office we see later when Padme is talking to him before they went before the senate. He also reinforces it by mentioning in *slight spoiler* the TCW series that the Grand Plan started without him. Dooku knows they're one of the same also because remember he tells Obi-Wan in the prison when the latter is being held captive that the Dark Lord of the Sith is influencing hundreds of senators and has control. Obi-Wan tells Yoda and Mace Windu at the end of the film that it doesn't feel right that Sidious is controlling the senate. He got this information from Dooku in the prison. He like the other Jedi don't believe Dooku. Dooku is well aware. He's just the figure head on the Separatist side of the proxy war created by Palpatine.
When I looked up on this movie scene with Errol Flynn, I saw someone had noted he was drunk while fighting Lee. Hearing Lee state they were just off of having lunch, I find some credibility in that note. But is this a fact?
he was awsome as Sauron in lotr....no 0ne would of done that role better.....would of been interesting to see him play gandalf, that was the part he wanted but i think he makes an excellent bad guy type.....nailed count dracula aswell. True legendary status sadly missed.

A Great actor and great stories. Working with a Legend like Errol Flynn and Playing One the Best Known of his as Dracula in the Hammer Horror movies with Peter Cushing. A good all round actor.🇬🇧
Someone needs to put him and Stephen Hawking in a Stargate sarcophagus and turn them back into the pimptastic titans of awesome we need in these trying times.

Classic line!

"I did a swordfight with Errol Flynn." How many people can toss off a line like that lol
Nobody anymore 😢
"Course it was after lunch."
Errol flynn was probably honored to do a sword fight with sir christopher lee
He's such a nice old gent. Hard to believe he once scared the living shit out of me.
Even now that I know, he scares me because of the immense authority he wields.
He released a Metal Album in his 80s. Lees just so cool! :D
in his 90s
His final album, Charlemagne: The Omens of Death came out on his 91st birthday!
I could listen to this man talk for hours and hours just telling his stories.

Ontologically Stephen he managed to do something that Bela never did in the public mind with that sadly.

I love the idea of him willingly turning into a vampire, fully fighting off the urges to feed and just keeping on making the best damn movies

It's telling that Christopher not answering the question properly is only a small shame, because what he says instead is enchanting.
You can tell he just enjoys talking about his work
He did come back in the next question and say he'd love to work with Clint Eastwood.
he's probably my favorite actor

His grandchildren are so lucky to have had him
I don't know if he had any. He only had one daughter and there aren't many public pictures of her.
They have type her name 5 of them showing her as a child and adult
Accoding to some she married in 2001 but so far no kids maybe they have but they just kept it hidden

Flynn was a well-known drinker, a hint as he said it was after lunch...just guessing
