Aw I was born in April 1996 in China and adopted in 1997. Thank you for your channel. It's so amazing to find someone who I can look to and relate to. I have the same questions and experiences. Love your story.

I have a friend that adopted a little from China, that could not have any children, and she and her husband are the best parents. It was the one child policy on why so many children were adopted. Many women later on had abortions, because of ultrasound. I am so glad that China dropped their one child policy. Men need women to marry, and so I am glad this policy changed in 2015. I am also happy for all the families that could not have children were able to adopt a child or children. My friend has a girl and a boy now. She has always loved children, and I am so happy for her that she was able to adopt two children.

This is crazy. I'm 16 years old and when I was 18 months old, I was adopted from Changsha. I now live in England too, South London with my British parents and 19 year old sister who was adopted from another part of China when she was 16 months old.

Hi, Naomi - just found your channel - love it! I have two daughters from China (13 and 14), and will send them a link here. Glad you found CCI. We are lucky to live in the D.C. area, with many other families like ours (single parent/transracial). The not knowing is hard; finding your "tribe" helps a smidge, I think. Best of luck!!

i'm a mom of two from China ages 12 and 15. I really like this! You have a good attitude and perspective. My girls are awesome and we talk all about what ifs, how, why....but never knowing for sure. But I think it helps figuring yourself out. Great video.

I feel like I can relate with this completely. Especially the part about feeling strange, growing up around people who are a different race and parents with different DNA. I have yet to go to China again, but I hope I can go soon. I also wish I had a photo of where I was found; I'd treasure it forever. On the CCI site I'm Sararose Gallo, by the way.

    • @TheHereandNao
      @TheHereandNao  8 лет назад

oh hey there Sararose :) thanks so much for sharing this! I believe that this feeling of feeling out of place is common to most people but especially for adoptees and it can be hard to figure out how to deal with this. Ah I wish you luck in going back to China !

Awesome video & kudos to your awesome mom & dad. A older couple, my wife and I traveled to China along with our 2 adult sons to complete the adoption of a little girl in March of 2015. She is now three and a wonder to behold. She is a very bright young girl who recalls more about her life in the orphanage than I would have expected and, it appears to me, wants to in some ways distance her self from that life in China (for instance, at times, if I say 'Xièxiè' she will correct me and say no, not Xièxiè, 'Thank you'). Watching her you can see that she just loves being part of a family and I am honored to be the one she calls Baba.
One of my greatest concerns is wanting to be prepared for whatever questions she may have as she grows older like the unknowns of her past & and why she looks different than us. I look forward to following your channel for the potential insights you can provide.
FWIW, you can see Lilah, whom I call my Lemondrop, on my youtube channel and also my blog kobolila.wordpress.com/

Excellent video. It is refreshing to hear your feelings about being adopted. You acknowledge your feelings about your identity while being fair in admitting the life you have led has brought you people and things you would not have otherwise had. You are now at an age where you can be autonomous . You are not bitter, you aren't whining. I thought this was an excellent video and you are a gorgeous woman. I wish you all the best in the future and I hope all your dreams come true. ❤️

Although I haven’t lived your life, and it’s difficult not knowing your biological parents, birthday etc. I think you were one of the lucky ones. As you mentioned, you had many opportunities, the love of wonderful parents but also you escaped the horrors of child abuse which runs rampant in China. I’m heartbroken, reading about and watching various videos on abuse against any child. In addition you escaped the trauma of those living a childhood spent studying non stop in order to attend Yale or Harvard, no time for friends or parties. I’m also happy you escaped the life growing up in an institution, I can’t think of anything worse, especially for children with disabilities who are thought by China to be a sign of bad luck to come so therefore freely discarded. Best of luck to you, you tell an interesting story.

Loved hearing your story. Just know that whatever your circumstances ... it was one of life's trade offs ... maybe not a perfect one but .. certainly you've been given the ideal situation. Think how scary what the alternative could have been. Like so many millions, your life is a mystery but obviously a life that was meant to be regardless of why, what & how. Embrace the beautiful & soulful mystery that you are because actually we are all a bit of a mysterious journey ... some more than others ❣💌

You are so beautiful.... I hope you find your bio-family sometime. I can only imagine how it feels not knowing your mother, even though your adoptive momma loves you so much, you would naturally have to long for your mother.... I would love to adopt a baby from China. One of my mom’s best friends was chinese and was a lifelong friend of our family. I loved and admired her so much. There are good things about adoption, imo and very sad. It’s inappropriate to take a child away from their homeland, people and religion. Sorry I said all this.... I hope you have a great life going forward and find all the happiness you so richly deserve....

I have a question for you, but let me give you some background info. I’ve wanted to adopt from Asia for as long as I’ve wanted children. My mom was adopted from Japan when she was 3 and is half American half Japanese. My oldest sister is adopted from within the states. It’s just been a part of my life and I love the love in our family whether biological or adopted. I was an American exchange student in China when I was 14 and fell more in love with the language, food and all around culture. If I were to adopt from China in the future, what is something I can do, say or prepare for my adopted child? You seem to have had wonderful parents! Is there anything more or different they could have done?

Moreover that a lot of bad things have happened in the early stages of my life but now I'm trying to reach out to people and show them that that's ok to be upset about it and show both sides and also to show people that haven't experienced it what life is like for some people, Gracias, yo puedo ya hablar español :)

You are beautiful. Your life could have been much different in China. I'm sure your birth mom grieves deeply for the loss of you. If you were there you would now be subject to the one child rule, treated as a second class citizen because you are female and probably not had the opportunity to travel extensively outside China. Knowing what you do now, which life would you have chosen?

For many people it is important with resemblens. That you look similar to your family. Chineses look like each other. And they are billions. Is it not natural that som chinese parents adopt a child of their own People. What do the child think...if the parent look different from them selves.
I only have heard that some of them reacht as foreign from their heritage. White people are not so many people so perhaps it would be better that they were adopted by their own People...when they are so very very many more people than in the west...
Many people as I have heard like to be like their families or People like their family identity.
This has with identity to do
