- Two weeks in from build - currently housing 4 Shubunkins x 4-6 inch. Pool probably has capacity for a couple more fish of this size but going to allow these beauties to settle first and the filter to mature a little more.
It's very nice did it have everything you needed with it or did you have to buy equipment?does it have a cover if it rains and does it clean buy itself thinking of getting one for my garden and just finding out information first all you need is plug it in the wall?
Hi Edele ... lots of questions there. PM me on gedd397@gmail.com and I can try and point you in the right direction.
Very nice .was thinking of getting a pond but there is alot of cats around where i live.would i need a net or something on it all the time?
I never used a net for mine - the depth of the pond plus the design would make it pretty difficult for a cat to get to the fish I would have thought. That said, the modern nets nowadays are really easy to fit, unobtrusive and a piece of cake to take on and off. If you wanted to use one for peace of mind then it wouldn't be a problem.
Hi Gedd, did you have any problems with Herons taking any fish? I’m really impressed with these ponds and want to purchase one! Best wishes to you 👍
Hi Ben ... no issues with Heron's ... only Magpies! Enjoy your new purchase!
Hi Gedd, I have an in ground pond at the moment but have seen these and they look much easier to clean etc, getting older is a pain lol.
I have some pond lollies in dirt basket, how would they go in the blagdon do you think. This set up looks great by the way. I have space for the bigger one if you think it would be better for them. Thank you for advice.
Hi Margaret, I'll get back to you later as I'm out at the moment. In the meantime PM your email address and I'll reply via there. Thanks. Gedd. gedd397@gmail.com
I've enclosed the main pump one in my outdoor enclosure but the UV light one I don't have a box. Will have to buy one I guess.
Yes - that's the best thing to do. I got mine from Screwfix - about £6.99 as I recall and plenty big enough to house them both.
Yeah should be good I've got it up and running I'll just buy an additional box to house the remaining transformer in. Sure it will be ok until then. We put 20ml of the pond De chlorination stuff and 20ml of the bacteria boost thing.
Great ... I always use the Blagdon range of Pond Treatments - they seem to do the job. Good luck :-)
Do we need to leave the pump and UV running all night? I was debating turning it off between midnight and 6am.
Yes - I run mine 24/7 without problem, it's what they are designed to do. Electric usage is minimal so no real worries re cost.
It looks good in the end, but it wasn't easy to make up.
Parts were not finished so I spent hours working why! they didn't work together.
The youtube videos did not explain the problems that you may come across so you need to look at the reviews on line which do help you set this up and not the manual.
Make sure you have the right holes in the right places when you put in the uprights as if you don't the holes for the side cross bars will not line up and you will need to drill your own or take it apart again.
Hi Diana - yes I agree with you, the building of the Affinity Pool can be difficult and as you say, the instructions are not particularly good or clear to follow. I'm glad that you got there in the end - if I can be of any help in the future please don't hesitate to ping me a message.
Hi there . Still all ok with pond ? We are looking at buying one shortly . How many fish do you have stocked ? Have you had any issues with ice during the winter ? Thanks
Hi Mitch - I'm actually in the process of upgrading to a Rectangular Wooden Pond which will give me over twice the capacity water volume wise than I have now. That said, I haven't really had any issues with the Affinity Pool although the UV Clarifyer did fail approximately 2 weeks ago after nearly 3 years of contiual use. I have 8 Fancy Goldfish (up to 6 inch) in the Grand Half Moon with no problems but realistically I would say that 5 to 6 fish of this size is probably a better ratio when taking into account the Pump and Filter Size and the Litreage of the pond. No issues whatsoever re the Pool in Winter - 2 years ago the pond froze to a depth of 3 inches but the pump and bell fountain continued to work and the fish were fine. Hope all of this helps - feel free to PM me on gedd397@gmail.com if I can be of any further help.
What happens when if rains do these not overflow ?
Mine never overflowed in the time that I owned it despite some torrential downpours.
How come you you got rid off this pond for your new one you now have ? As have just got one off there’s now seeing you have upgraded am slightly worried 😟
Hi Adam - the UV Clarifyer failed plus I wanted to upgrade to a bigger pond. As the Affinity Pool was 3 years old and looking a little worse for wear, I decided to replace rather than repair. Any other questions I'd be happy to answer - you can email me on gedd397@gmail.com
Hi
Quick question, did you put the plants in the bags provided?
Hi Alexandra, yes I used the supplied 'bags' for the smaller marginals and use a combination of raised beds for the larger, potted-up varieties. Any other questions then please don't hesitate to ask.
I was purchase affinity pond.I get pond last for yrs
Hey there could I have your email so I can get some advice. As we've got the 3000 pump and goldfish and everyone is saying it's not powerful enough for goldfish. It's been on since yesterday but already there's so much muck on the bottom and the pump is shooting out a nice fountain at the top but dirt just seems to go past the filter and settle on the bottom. If dirt gets really close to it, it does pull it into the filter. At the moment we've got 1 fish so imagine what's its gonna be like with 3. I think we should have got the 9000 pump.

how much was this pond mate ??
Hi Joey ... along with the Pump, Filters and Transformer Box it was about £560.
Thanks, looks nice. Make video to show at night please
How does the pond look today?
Hi nyko911 - I no longer have the Affinity Pool. The UV Clarifyer failed plus I wanted to upgrade to a bigger pond. As the Affinity Pool was 3 years old and looking a little worse for wear, I decided to replace rather than repair. I now have a 350 Gallon (1591 litres) Wooden Framed Pond which I'm extremely happy with. Any other questions I'd be happy to answer - you can email me on gedd397@gmail.com
@@geddgillespie5452 make a video of the new pond
@@StudentLoanMillionaire ... I already have and it's on RUclips.
@@geddgillespie5452 see your wood pond
What do you do in the winter with this
You run it as usual ... no special measures to take really ... I don't have the Affinity Pool any longer but didn't have any issues during winter.
@@geddgillespie5452 awesome! Do you recommend this as a good starter pond?
@@maddiisamoronx6746 ... yes I would. I've progressed now to a bigger, wooden style patio pond but the Affinity was fine for me for the 3 years that I had it. Any further questions then feel free to email me at gedd397@gmail.com
I have brought one of these 2nd hand last week ,I have just gone to set it up but have noticed I have a funny ended plug on a cable coming from the pump ,any advice on which transformer I need to get would help please
Hi Wayne ... not too sure what you are saying as the transformers are part of the electrical kit that comes with the pool. Can you clarify - drop me an email if you'd like.

Still as pleased mate?
Yes - although it's not looking quite as pristine despite me carrying out regular maintainance as per guidelines. I've now got 8 fish in total and that's about as much as I reckon the filtration system can adequately cope with. Blanketweed has been a problem - it seems to be under control now - but overall I'm pleased that I got it despite the time consuming chore of cleaning and changing the fliters every 2 to 3 weeks.
Gedd Gillespie great thanks bud. Thinking of getting 1 myself 😁
Go for it ... the larger 'Grands' are better value and will allow you to keep more fish. Shop around - the price seems to vary quite a bit from retailer to retailer and online stores are not always the cheapest. If I can help in any other way then don't hesitate to ask.
This is really fabulous and we are thinking of getting one but perhaps may be cheaper to build our own and spec the pump ourselves? Is it a pond liner inside?
Hi Richard ... yes the liner is inside the rattan framework that you can see and attaches via a clip system to the underside of the rails. I suppose that it would be quite feasible to build something similar yourself although I quite like the fact that everything is included in the kit and slots together quite easily. If I can be of any further help then please shout and I'll do my best to point you in the right direrction.
