Vox VT vs Boss Katana vs Marshall Code vs Blackstar ID Core vs Fender Mustang vs Blackstar TVP vs Line 6 Spider V. Love this amp. I bought a ID core 20 and my neighbors can feel it in their soul this amp moves so much damn air. It still amazes me how loud this thing is.
This little amp is deceptively huge. I bought the 10w so I'd have something small to jam with while visiting family. I couldn't believe the way this thing swelled up and filled my entire downstairs with a full deep sound. This has become my main amplifier at home....unreal
Just got this amp today, and holy shit did it exceed all my expectations! Its only 20 watts but it sounds ALOT louder than it looks. You really need to listen to that stereo in person, its unbelievable.
I've been playing guitar since the 80's and solid statre amps sucked back then. I have a coiuple tube amps but I can't use them late at might. The tones from Blackstar's ID Core 20 are beyond amazing. This amp exceeds my expectstions in every way. It sounds HUGE and the effecs sound as good as most $600-$1000 pedal boards.
Mike every amp has some noise but especially on a high gain setting,.. you need to activate the noise gate or adjust it in the software. It’s the nature of high gain and high volumes. Also turn off as many gadgets as possible that the amps power might be connected to.
This amp... Floored. No bad sounds; just inspiring. Best Small amp I've ever had/heard etc. IMPORTANT Feature. As far as I understand the ISF "Tone Knob", is it controls the SAG of the amp. To the left = Less SAG - American (Tight Rhythm). To the right = More SAG - British (Singing Leads). So it's quite a bit more than a tone contour; hence the "Patented ISF Knob"
I've had an ESP EC 256 for 9 years. The stock pickups sound pretty good. But I installed a set of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. And they sound amazing I've also heard that 59's are also really good.
I just got a Schecter Demon 6 and this small beast.(both are my firsts) I decided to watch this video to get me some information about it, and now I'm really excited to play it.
I bought the 10 amp based upon your recommendation and I'm floored by how this amp sounds. I'm thinking about returning it for the 40. I am now a Blackstar devotee.
Was dissapointed in the ID CORE 40. Changed it for ID 15 TVP. It's much better. Has true valve power and tvp and all together better made and and an all round better amp.
I just bought the V1 model of the 40W last week, not knowing there was a V2 coming out. But for what it's worth, this one doesn't sound any different than mine so I guess I'll be glad I got it for a good price. In any case, it IS a great amp. I've been through three or four amps and finally settled on this one.

I'd be interested to see Glen Fricker's take on this - sounds not bad for a practice amp to me, but then everything sounds better on Andertons videos than Glenn's channel
These really are great little amps that indeed do pack quite the punch. I've got the ID Core 10 and it's a great practice amp and even small gigging amp. The built in effects are nice but it also does very well to accept other pedals if you like? I use a Digitech Whammy that pairs with this amazingly well. The clean warm and clean bright are super crisp, more than you'd expect for such small amps. I use it for my Gretsch White Falcon, Epi LP and Squier Telecaster and couldn't be happier. Best $90 I ever spent!
I bought one of these used, and the "clean bright" setting is worth buying the amp alone! With the built in effects, your vocals, or an acoustic or electric guitar sound amazing. However the gain and high gain channels are alot more solid state sounding, and aren't nearly as polished... It's got great bass for its size, and is much lighter than ANY tube amp (even the stupid awesome HT5R!). My opinion only... Thanks!
Just got the 40 watt; it's load!! Great amp, especially for the price. And yeah, with the 2 speakers when I play this in my bedroom it's as though the sound just surrounds you!!

lando27music Yeah... No matter how Blackstar describes its ISF; American tonal character or British one, honestly we perceive that simply a 'tone' knob. Nothing fancy.

Is there any tone and fx diffrence between 20 and 40?? And distorted sound is good ? I am thinking of buying it now it is good looking for that budget i cant spend too much money
@@ardakucuksahin2855, I tried all three and bought the 20. It's the extra $ because it has bigger and better speakers. The additional low end gives a bigger and fuller sound. The 20 and 40 sound nearky identical but the 40 is louder. My 20 fills a big room quite nicely.

This Chanel is dogs bollocks...way better than normal virgin media or sky....rock on dudes! Question: I have the Yamaha THR 10 v2 and wondered if the ID Core 40 v2 compares to that pleeeez?
This video is 21:12 long. RUSHCEPTION! Anyway, this sounds like a pretty decent little practice amp. Still saying the Boss Katana is my dream amp at the moment.
I am a big fan of my Boss Katana 50 amplifier, but if I have to be honest I get more and more attached towards the Blackstar products!!! And if I have to choose between them I will drive myself mad as hell!! They seem soo great and want to ask what you think of those black magic boxes. But I won't get rid of my Boss madness because they never let me down!!! Damn great amplifiers nowadays!!!!!!
Modeling just keeps coming along and as the high end gets scratching away at tube amps territory the previous lessons learned trickle down to these lower end amps. I personally would've KILLED to have had one of these when I first started playing guitar. I didn't know what really good distortion sounded like until I got like my third amplifier.
I have this amp and I bought it to replace old Marshall MG to practise in home. It is very fine but for me the most important problem is lack of real, clean neutral chanell like marshall mg or for example my Roland Cube. I use different amps simulators and effects and I like when they are plugin neutrual, clean chanell. Here we have two clean channels, which are not really clean. I think that these channels try to simulate Marshall and Fender old amps but it is problem when you want to use different pedals
You guys should do a $5,000 challenge, where you guys do the competition set up that you guys usually do, only both the guitars and amps that you pick have to be above $5000. Or pick another number, but something ridiculously high would make an interesting video
Ugh, I'm debating between this and a Yamaha THR10C. I've actually heard the Blackstar in person, though. SURPRISINGLY nice sounding cleans and effects. I actually liked this review as silly as it (intentionally, OBVIOUSLY) is!
ShotGunRoleModel dude, I have the thr10c AND the blackstar idcore 40. The thr10c is on the shelf collecting dust. The crystal clear stereo sound (even at higher volumes) and footswitch option on the blackstar did it for me!
How is the 10w V2? I'm looking at getting it. I have read a lot about grounding issues causing a horrible hiss from the amp. Have you experienced that? Hope to hear back. Thanks

Can the brains trust @ Blackstar R&D foresee an ID Core or TVP floorboard?... light in weight, hardy chassis, dual inputs (switchable), stereo out, dual expression pedals built in, loop (sampler), tap tempo, freeze/hold effect on the reverb...all the super, super, extra super cool stuff a working muso can use...
Blackstar ID series has supported me in live gig situations since it hit Australia... because it sounds good, and is lighter than a valve amp.
I'd pay for, and would love the support of the ID features in a floorboard, that let's me DI to the desk, and decide on how big (if any) an on-stage speaker box I need.
Keep on building guys... you're an asset to the industry.
Regards
Robert
Rory... that "Spppeeeeaaaadddd Ccccaaaaaammmm"... that was amazing.
Everyone is putting their Marshall 4x12 face down to float a malteaser now hahaha
This Chanel is dogs bollocks...way better than normal virgin media or sky....rock on dudes! Question: I have the Yamaha THR 10 v2 and wondered if the ID Core 40 v2 compares to that pleeeez?
For a £2,591.00 worth Fender it sure got out of tune pretty easily. FOUR times in twenty minutes.
The amp is awesome though...
Andy Rayner new strings probably
Was about to say that
@@mad3arber nahhh it’s just a Fender… Gibson are better
Sounds amazing on cans!

Just got the Fly delivered to my door...can't wait to try my new toy!
Damn! I just got the old version a few weeks ago from Andertons and didn't know they are releasing a new version.
This video is 21:12 long. RUSHCEPTION!
Anyway, this sounds like a pretty decent little practice amp. Still saying the Boss Katana is my dream amp at the moment.
The intro was cool I like playing blues
I am a big fan of my Boss Katana 50 amplifier, but if I have to be honest I get more and more attached towards the Blackstar products!!! And if I have to choose between them I will drive myself mad as hell!! They seem soo great and want to ask what you think of those black magic boxes. But I won't get rid of my Boss madness because they never let me down!!! Damn great amplifiers nowadays!!!!!!
Bought today, to pick up next week in Boston, MA, USA!
What's the music he plays at 5:41? I MUST KNOW :D
You could plug your amp simulator in the line in and it should be pretty clean.
nice sound🤩
Blackstar ID Core VS Boss Katana
MattZildjian I think they need to have a new small amp showdown.

Blackstar ID Core vs Boss Katana
Tone Pimp1
idcore wins.
Tone Pimp1 Boss katana wins.
LOL
Katana every time! by a huge mile. ID core not even in same league
its sounds exaggerated ;) i cannot believe that by the way i would love a demo comparing both
You guys should do a $5,000 challenge, where you guys do the competition set up that you guys usually do, only both the guitars and amps that you pick have to be above $5000.
I like it. certainly beats the pants off my old Fender Mustang.
I tried the 20w and it sounded great 👍 I bought the 10w though for the size as I have larger amps.
How is the 10w V2? I'm looking at getting it. I have read a lot about grounding issues causing a horrible hiss from the amp. Have you experienced that?
Hope to hear back. Thanks
@@dizilizid8281 Did you bought it?
@@anywhere_19 Yes and it's a great little Amp with a decent sound, incredible volume and loads of great sounding effects.
@@dizilizid8281 thank you for replying! Did you use insider software?
@@anywhere_19 No problem! No i did not use the insider software.
