    Great video guys, there are other huge places you can visit here in Monterrey the next time you decide to visit this city, like these places:
    -Chipinque: It Is a big protected area in the mountain where you can walk, ride bicycles or just enjoy the gorgeous views of the city
    -Cola de caballo: It's a waterfall and you can do some activities like ride a horse, jump from a bungee, or eat and buy typical things from the region.
    -San Pedro Garza García: It's the richest city in México and latin america, you will enjoy the buildings, malls, the big houses and beautiful parks that are very similar to the parks you can find in Canada, It Is also the safest city in México
    -Bioparque estrella: it is a big zoo where the animals are free and you get into a bus so they can take you to see the animals in their natural habitat.
    -Santiago: It Is a magic and old town with a lot of colorful houses and its environment is full of green mountains, there Is also a large lake where u can rent a sailboat, eat fish, or just enjoy the great views.
    There are more beautiful places like mirador del obispado or grutas de García, thank you for visit and show our city to your country and to the world. I send y'all my best vibes and wishes from Monterrey, México. cya! 😊

    Thanks for the tour of Monterrey and the background info. The mural comprised of 300 houses is stunning. We also loved the elephant sculpture from rubbish, it reminded us a little of a roadrunner sculpture in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Are there any/many bog standard street taco stands selling cabrito tacos? Monterrey is definitely on our radar.

    • @mtyliving
      @mtyliving 3 года назад +2

      There are not street stand with kid goat tacos. But the best kid goat tacos are in restaurant El Jonuco near from airport in Apodaca Nuevo León.
      Also el Jonuco has excellent regional cuisine. Americans and Asian citizens that work in the industrial parks from Apodaca visit that restaurant.
      Best kid goat ? el Gran Pastor (with more tradition ).
      Restaurant Las Monjitas mmm well as citizen from Monterrey is not a restaurant that I could recommend.
      There are better options in the city.

    • @ACoupleofDrifters
      @ACoupleofDrifters 3 года назад +2

      @@mtyliving Thank you very much for getting back to us and telling us about some other restaurants. We were surprised to hear you say there really aren't any street stands with kid goat tacos, but that is good to know. Although we really were hoping for street stands. We've checked out the restaurants that you recommended and the food looks fantastic. We also see that Mercado Hidalgo sells cabrito and machito. What do you think of the cabrito from the mercado? Which restaurants in Monterrey city do you recommend for cabrito? Thanks again for your response to us.

    We were targeting our retirement in San Cristobal for 2 years n 8 months, my 62nd birthday…but our youngest daughter is 95% finished with her new house outside of Queretaro and she suggested we go live there until we start collecting social security. We don’t know how soon we’ll be going yet, still working out lots of details but 1 year n 8 months at the latest. Hope to meet yall in the future !

Actually briefly visited/past through but decided not to stay, because we would only have 2 days to explore and felt it needed more time than that so we spent the extra time in another city. Good luck with all the planning, it's tough but so worth it! Let us know when you guys are in Queretaro or San Cristobal, we would love to meet up! Yes, incredible! However, most of us in South Texas who used to go for one reason or another, began to realize about 2010 that we have to go through a sliver of Tamaulipas, the most dangerous State in Mexico to get there. I used to go a lot for business purposes in the 70's and 80's. Wonderful people! Looks like they are getting it together! By the way the mountain is called "Saddle Back Mountain."

    Indeed, Monterrey in comparison to other mexican cities such as Guadalajara, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and etc, it doesn't have a colonial or at least prehispanic backstory, Monterrey is an industrial city since its foundation back in september 20, 1596. Many of the great industries and corporatives of Mexico began here such as Coca Cola-FEMSA (Oxxo), Vitro, Grupo Alfa, CEMEX, etc. So, yeah, it's a modern/urban city 100%, 'cause it doesn't have prehispanic or indigenous architecture, btw, by now is the 2nd most important and 2nd most populated city in Mexico and also, the richest and most expensive one in whole Latin America (since 2019).
    Fact: Monterrey has jewish roots too.🇮🇱

    Very brave to get that close to La Campana.
    By the way, there's no need to roll the double R in Monterrey unless speaking Spanish. Everyone in the city who speaks English just pronounce it Monerey, as American English speakers do.
    In Las Monjitas they are "nuns", not "monks".

    If you go about an hour drive to the south,southwest you’d hit Montreal/monclova, Coahuila they actually get snow covered mountains every winter and has spruce, forest and several other pine tree species. They hit heights of 12,000ft .

    Hi. Nice video. I would like to comment that us Mexicans are fond of making jokes abut the people of MTY because of their tendency to imitate their Texan neighbors. The people from other regions of Mexico call regios "the Texans of the south" and we also claim that MTY is the most southern neighborhood of San Antonio, TX. For regios, the perfect weekend includes doing some shopping at Laredo, TX and having a barbecue in their backyards.
    You won't find much culture or ancient ruins in MTY, but there are 3 very cool museums by the Paseo Santa Lucía which are worth the visit. They focus on art and history of Northern Mexico.

    • @laurenandseth
      @laurenandseth  3 года назад +5

      I can see that now that you mention it! :D Pretty cool because we've always said if we ever move back to the US, it's got to be San Antonio, Texas because of the Mexican culture and close proximity to Mexico! That sounds like a good weekend to us too. :)
      Thanks for the suggestions on the museums, we'll check them out when we're in town next!

      @@laurenandseth Daniel 72 doesn't know anything about the culture in Monterrey, he's lying. In fact, he does not have studies in culture, like the majority of Mexicans, and that is why he does not understand the phenomenon of border cultures and falls into excess of saying that we imitate Texans. Texas and the Mexican Northeast have been a cultural unit since the Foundation, within which there was trade and population exchange since the seventeenth century.
      Good video!
