- RUclips is full of content, but it is hard to find the right information in the sea of incomplete or incorrect content that is getting released every day! In this series of videos, I will give my best to address the irregularities that I will notice and cover the myths about psytrance music production that way I will try to contribute to the community by filling up the gaps on topics about how to produce psytrance music.
In this video, I will address a topic about the myths on the psytrance kick and bass myths.

Hello, it was my video :) It looks like you didn't follow the example exactly, the smooth in the LFO will not give you accurate values and thus the release occurs. Would have been great if you have linked that video if you're going to take it out of context like that. All good though, like you said (and myself in that video) not everything is the golden rule. This technique just worked well in vital
Ah, sorry that you think it was your video. I assure you it was not.
@@EClipChannel interesting! because the screenshot is identical...
@@DashGlitch maybe you have a copycat 😁 Anyway, most of the channels and videos I found in analytics I heard and saw for the first time.
😅😅😅😅😅
E clip says your bass sucks.....@@DashGlitch😂
while in c sharp
Very good video again. please never stop doing these, really helps me to improve my sound quality
Every time I watch your videos I learn a lot. You get straight to the point!
at 9:44 it's probably vital's filter which adds that little bit of ringing after the 16th note...
Every filter does it, as the filter is EQ, and I know you know that already. As the LP filter is added, plus changing the frequency controlled by Envelope/LFO it shifts the phase constantly. Which is a topic for the next video.
I use two AMP envelopes for kick. The first envelope comes from KICK2 or E-Kick of Bitwig, and second "fish tail envelope" is just an EQ or Volcano 3. This helps me to find good spot for the dip while playing the track and less editing of the envelope points of KICK2. True time saver.
I'm sort of "KICK2 critical" person. If you look at Pro-R2 introduction by Dan Worrall, my take on KICK2 is in the ballpark of what Dan is saying about algorithmic reverbs and their controls. Doing kicks should not be that hard and it really isn't...
i thank Jesus for E-Clip. Such a BLESSING to learn from the BEST
And I thank E-Clip for Jesus
@E-Cip Music Thank you for this highly informative tutorial. Eagerly waiting for part 2 of this series expecting that you would talk about tips and tricks regarding Kick Synthesis and Processing. Your videos inspired and helped me in coming a long way to getting my fundamentals spot on. Thank you so much!! :)
you deserve more subs and views.
quality content!
Another brilliant videos thanks🙏❤️✨
Amazing Stuff !! Always! Thank you!
To the first point of the video (option nr. 2): (in serum and vital) you can remove the first harmonic (fundermental) of the wave in OSC 1 and copy just the first hamonic (you just removed in osc 1) to the 2. OSC. Than let direct pass through the 2. OSC without filtering. Just the 1. OSC will be filtered. Thus the 1. Harmonic will play through and will create a nice lowend.
👍🏼
Very helpful video as always, thank you.
Information straight from some of my favourite Psy producers ^^ crazy times to be alive
I freaking agree I see so much wrong info on yt it makes me laugh some times...
awsome, thank you so much for supporting all the amateur producers community! :) :)
excellent approach. thanks
Thank you !
YOU NEED TO lower the "smooth" option from LFO1. iit will fix the issue with the delay. ;)
The delay could happend due to the 3% phase randomization. The transient should start at the same time with smoothness or without.
Applied. Hopefully see you in Cambridge brother!
Hi. Could you please do a video on the techniques that you use for drum rolls?
Nice tips!
another awesome tutorial ^_^ хвала 😍
very nice
Excellent! Thx!
In french we say- Les règles sont faîtes pour être contournées. 🏴☠
word 100% agree !! i'l better watch your channel instead of those from those so called "forest" producers
Very nice! 🙏
The delay problem you explain at 11:00 comes actually from the fact that the oscillator does not start at the phase rotation point. When you now add some multiband processing which rotates the phase further, the ramp part of the saw more or less collapses, and it then looks like a delay. :)
If the phase is set to 180, it should start in the middle of the saw oscillation. Like every other VST.
@@EClipChannel Don't know why, but Vital is different for some reason, the phase flip happens at 0 🤷♂
@@rumblechannel6343 I am not using Vital too much, I was using it very shortly, but for some reason, it never became a part of my workflow. So I do miss some expertise about it
@@EClipChannel Don't forget, that you had also a 3% chance of phase randomization in there.
@@AntiPattern123 13:30 🤓
mate get onto phase plant and use the curve device for your envelope (see dash glitch).. its fantastic for having perfectly tight bass notes, better and easier that most other plugins
I tried all possible VSTi for the bassline. Phase plant is not even in the top 5 for my taste. Only good thing is dispresser, which can be used as plugin as well. Sound of PP filters is not even close to Rapture Filters.
"Open Sustain / Closed Sustain" ??
I'm confused by this term.
Unless Rapture has an unusual kind of sustain, I suspect you are actually referring to the "Decay" stage of an ADSR.
I've never come across an ADSR that you can lower the Sustain's stage of the envelope with a slope. The only stages of an ADSR that you can give a slope to are the Attack, Decay & Release.
So when you say "Sustain" in this context, are you actually referring to the decay? Or is this Rapture envelope you're using for amplitude an LFO in envelope mode/MSEG?
Otherwise, great visual explanation of the effect of lengthening of notes with processing. Thanks :)
You can change the curve of the decay as you say, but decay is the length in units of time (ms), while sustain will give the value, in this case, the amp volume value.
But you are right, the Rapture has an MSEG type of Envelope, but that doesn’t change anything in the video context.
@@EClipChannelOk I underdtand now that you were talking about the sustain level. Thanks for clarifying.
Whoa what DAW is this? I’ve never seen this one before.
Cubase
why you have no dc offect if you fade out like this ??? if i do this i have always dc offset !!
Not sure what do you mean
yea well, i use kick 2 and the VST on midi no need to do it in audio ahah
Is there a reason you’re doing so much post synthesis eq’ing, vs defining the oscillator to match the desired eq in a wave table editor. Phase plant, serum and vital all have great wavetable editors for this, and doing it this way allows you to get the sound all without adding unwanted post ringing, phasing ,or delays.
I mean. Both can get the same sound, so in a way this question just emphasises the whole point of this video. There are multiple ways to achieve a sound, and knowing more of them, and how to get the most out of your tools is the most important thing..
That was the whole point in my original video btw, understand the synthesizer parameters and features and you won't need all the fancy third party extra processes. But it seemed that was lost in the sauce
If you can get the same sound then you should go with the synthesis only. I am doing so much post-processing to get the shound I want which I am not able to get with the synthesis only.
Dude, it was not your video. Relax
@@EClipChannel then link the video for context, come on. Its the least you could do. The only 2 videos on youtube that discuss that exact technique are from myself and Kabayun who's video mentions it was my technique. Just for clarity
@@DashGlitch I will not! Just because you got insulted for no reason I should point the finger on the person who did it?
That would make you feel better, but someone else may get hurt!
I am not sure which video of yours you are aiming for, and when it is made, but this technique artists on the scene are using for a while now, and I also used it way back as well. It is not something new as you might believe.
You are successfully pulling out way more information from me than I am well to give on this point.
Whatever your point is, I will simply say it one more time, IT’S NOT YOUR VIDEO!!! Trust me or not, i don’t care but this will be the last replay on this matter as you successfully start to go on my nerves!
Hello E-Clip, i have been trying to understand and produce psytrance bass for 2 years now. However, I always come across challenges (even if I copy everything 1 to 1 the sound sounds different). Here I wanted to try to recreate the bass in Vital but without success. it sounds not so full and not powerful at all (I'm talking about the process without effects). Do you have any ideas what this can be? I bought your course but I have not found the solution there. Hope you or someone else can help me. Thanks!
⚠️⚠️⚠️Do you have the same sound card and converters as me? If you don’t, you should never expect to have the same results. It is not possible without the same gear!!!
⚠️⚠️⚠️
@@EClipChannel ah okay and what do you use? Or do you have any advise how I am able to fix that?
@@Mrx_-js9vi i would suggest RME soundcard.
@@EClipChannel is it possible without soundcard to produce some good Bass or is it a must. If it is a must can you recommend one specific?
@@EClipChannel Thank you
I love how eclip always says 'and i really like how it sounds' like there is no given rules and in my opinion it's exactly about that. There is no wrong and right, but what style do you want to create, what do YOU like? Darker, melodic, weird, Playful? It's all about the vibe you want to create, the feelings and atmosphere, it's not about rules.
For me when i make music i try to keep my music as balanced as possible. If i miss fun i'll add some playful elements or if i think it's too much fm or too dry i try to add some melodic elements, to create a nice balance. For me it's all about that and the style and the style i create by knowing my taste of music. This actually made me very arrogant to a lot of music producers 😅
And again i repeat eclips exact words, generalizing things with subjectivity or subjective rules is a big no because there are just too many possibilities of styles and tastes.
In other words, only because i like it that way and i do it that way, doesn't mean that you'll like it that way aswell.
All i wanted to say is.
THANK YOU ECLIP 🙏❤
