So true! My mother grew up in a very rural area and, when she was young, her family had very little money. There were five in her family plus her widowed grandmother in a very tiny house. She will joke with people and say her first closet was a nail on the wall...but it was true. She loved fashion and worked in the industry as an adult. She is now 88 and in memory care due to dementia but she still dresses beautifully, wears gorgeous jewelry and my step-father makes sure she has her hair colored & styled monthly. I'm a minimalist - maybe my mother enjoys fashion & clothes because she didn't have any growing up and I was Baby Boomer who was given so much so the less the better for me now. Or maybe it's just our personalities. :)
I can understand how people may opt for a tiny wardrobe of clothes. It's not for me. In my teens I had very few clothing pieces, and only 1 pair of shoes at a time. I love the colour in your wardrobe. When I started down-sizing my wardrobe I thought that neutrals were the way to go but it made me very unhappy so I introduced my favourite colours, bright blue, bright green & bright purple. They all go together well & make me so happy.
Athough I am a minimalist, I chose to have a not-so-minimal wardrobe, but I buy all my clothes in very similar fabrics and colors. I prefer doing a big load of laundry once a week, than multiple smaller ones. This way I save time, water & electricity, which also saves me money and is a little bit better for the environment.
We too do our laundry every 1-2 weeks depending on how dirty we get our laundry. With a family as large as ours (6 total people) it can get a bit crazy to have so much laundry. But as minimalist as we are now, we only fill up 1½ - 2 baskets in a 2 week period.
I remember you mentioning before that a lot of high end brands are available and that you had money to take trips and go to private clinics for your pregnancy. It is strange how people believe that we need a lot of things to be happy. In my experience growing up, it was always the people with more stuff that seemed stressed out. I like that you have a lot of colour in your minimalist wardrobe ☺
Vika, you inspired me to get rid of unnecessary things in my home. I'm up to 1,300 items now (my goal is 2021, for 2021). All items have been donated or recycled. My wardrobe was a large part of that number and I'm so much happier with my smaller wardrobe! Since I volunteer in a thrift store (I'm in the US), I never have to worry about items breaking down because I can easily get a new one when I go work. It has really been freeing to not be tied to so much "stuff." I look forward to your videos and enjoy your personality and outlook on life. Cheers!
In Australia, we have companies that rent out dressy clothing for 1-7 days, this way you can keep a simple wardrobe but on the occasion you want to doll yourself up e.g for a wedding, birthday, you can just rent.
That's so clever! Here in Croatia people sometimes rent out a suit or a wedding dress, since they tend to be very expensive and you rarely wear them. This should be more common though, there is no shame in trying to save money on unnecessarily big wardrobe.
Yes, Clothes for all the Guests can be rented very cheaply. Even hats, shoes, headdresses and bags. So much cheaper than buying them, as a Wedding in Australia, for example
People sometimes compliment me on my retro 1980"s style clothing. Then I tell them that it isn't retro, it's the actual T-shirt I was wearing in the 1980's.
Your videos about minimalism always inspire me to reduce the amount of clothes I keep. With your last video I made two big bags full of clothes to donate and this time for sure I'll fill up at least one😊 I cannot reach your so small wardrobe but I want to reduce it and keep it simpler than now. Thanks for your inspiration and sharing your thoughts. Hugs from Spain🤗
I thrifted a second hand summer dress that I wore for several years. When I became bored with wearing it I changed it into a skirt so it now has several more years of life. Hello from UK, I love your channel 💞
Great idea. I'd need to find a Tailor, but I'd definitely get sick of the sight of my clothes, in a minimalistic Wardrobe. Especially if I were going somewhere special, but I'm assuming minimalist people will then buy a new outfit and accessories? I have many clothes. I do a huge clear out, to the Clothes Bank, every Spring and Autumn. (mine and my family's stuff,) I know every piece I own, though, and love them all . Wearing them, as appropriate, in each of our 4 Seasons. I like to feel smart and put together well. This way, I can still attain that. Still, my clothes are good quality, so I haven't bought anything new for over a year.! ( I plan to not shop next year, either.) I have clothes, appropriate for even the dressiest occasion,. Instead , I'm saving the money I would have spent, towards a family Holiday. So,even though I'm not minimalist , I do make my Wardrobe work for me ( and my husband and sons, too, for them) and make an effort to save on waste. Not too sure the Removal men will share this concept, when we move house this year 😂🤔
@@VictoriaTerekhina haha!! Well in your earlier cooking video it seemed you were really into it thats why i asked haha! Awesome that you are going to make one soon. Even if you dont, I will be watching all your content! Best wishes
I really enjoy your positive attitudes. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I have a smaller wardrobe (not quite capsule) and wear everything until the pieces are beyond wearing and repurpose the cloth for other things if I can. Its interesting that you say you got comments about others thinking you could not afford new clothes. I have a family member give/buy me clothes because they do not like that I do not have, or believe I cannot afford, a larger wardrobe. Its very interesting to me how some perceive the desire to own less as meaning that you can't afford more.
I enjoy your channel and perspective on material things :) Being able to quickly decide what to take with you on a trip, or even being able to fit all your clothes in a suitcase, is a huge benefit and that's what got me started and interested in minimalism 2 years ago. I live abroad now but one day I plan to return to Europe and I want to have no worries about what I will do with all my stuff :)
I also keep using the same outfits but I don’t think that barely anybody notices or even cares 😁 moreover, the clothes that I do have are things that I really really like and truly enjoy wearing!
My way of decluttering the wardrobe is putting away cloths I didn't enjoy wearing that day instead of just putting it into the washing basket. It takes longer to declutter but this way I'm sure what I want to get rid of
I do that, too. Well, I did. If I wear something that doesn't fit right, or it itches, or the straps fall down (like a bra) I put it right in the pile, rather than in the laundry room.
So inspiring. I have so many clothes and it creates so much stress because too much choice, mixture of sizes, so much unnecessary washing, folding and ironing. Also the space it takes up is ridiculous. Your videos are motivation to down size my wardrobe.
Oh my, do your videos convict me and motivate me. The big problem you have with lots and lots of clothes is making a decision on what to wear. It took five changes of clothes to get ready for church. That is absolutely ridiculous. I’m getting on the band wagon and downsizing. You are so enjoyable Vika. Love you and your family.
I’m so happy I discovered your channel Vika! Thanks for all of your helpful ideas. I really enjoyed listening to how you learned English so well in a previous video! If you have any idea for a lesson you’d like to see in English, I would love to hear! I am making English lessons on my channel ❤️🙏🏼🌟beautiful day to everyone !
I had a very small wardrobe when I was pregnant and it was very convenient! I'm working towards a smaller wardrobe now by not buying new stuff and keeping only the pieces I really like.
Vika be like: can fit all her, her kid's and husbands clothes in one wardrobe me, who buys stuff to fill the void in my heart: lives alone and has 3 whole fucking wardrobes and 5 boxes of winter clothing full with pretty shit and sews more (also привет, вик, хорошего дня!)
Two disadvantages of a small wardrobe: If you gain or lose weight ! And your few garments become unusable or less desirable since they don’t fit anymore... Certain garments are chosen according to weather conditions. On the hottest, most humid days, you DON’T want to wear certain garments, so if your two “ ideal” items for hot/humid weather are not available... you’re in trouble! You didn’t mention “ accessories”. For office work, parties etc, the so-called Little Black Dress is practical and can be used in many ways by changing scarves, jewelry, jackets etc. Maybe the LBD isn’t part of your lifestyle, though ... Reversible clothing can be practical!
My closet has about 7 outfits, 3 pair of PJs, an 7 shirts 6shorts ... That's about it. I have " every day" clothes, but that don't count. Your a very lovely person,God bless you!🌸
Yes, yes! For you is perfect just minimalist. When it's no dress coding on your workplace, do well-being yourself. I hate the neckties! But oft-time it's obligatory.
It's so hard for me not to look online for dresses. I love colours and patterns and since I worked in a clothing store I simply cannot ignore the new dresses that come out every summer ❤️
It’s different when you choose to have small number of clothes from when you can’t afford them. Me as a teen growing up in war surroundings, didn’t have anything ( food, clothes, water), always wanted to have Levi’s jeans and couldn’t afford it for years. Finally decade later, when I started to make money, I would buy every pair of jeans I would like. I know it’s from trauma but I can’t help it- have like in between 30 and 40 pairs of jeans all the time, always. When I get rid off one I will buy another. It’s like telling to my self I am in control and I’m not poor anymore
I’m sorry to hear that but I think I can understand your feelings💛 I don’t think it’s bad to have a lot of clothes if that makes you feel better and more comfortable☺️ If it makes you feel worse then it can be an issue.
Every time I declutter, my wardrobes fill up again in no time. I love clothes, I love shopping, it's my passion lol. I dumped about 15 handbags today, go me 🤭
I agree with all of your pros for having a small, simple wardrobe. But if you have a job where you cannot wear t-shirts and jeans, you do need to have more clothing. However, if you pick the right tops and bottoms, you can wear things multiple times, you just wear tops with different bottoms and bottoms with different tops and you look like you have more variety in your wardrobe than you do. This was a great video and you look wonderful!
You are such an inspiration to me. I find your attitude refreshing and the fact that you are true to yourself. We need more people like you and your lovely family in this world. Keep making videos!
Small wardrobes are the best. Mine is slightly bigger but I have what I need. Some casual, few smart dresses I can rotate what more do I need. Lol My house is also tiny so don't want a thousand items of clothing. 🙌🏻
Once I broke 2 or 3 pairs of jeans and pants almost at the same time. It was a bit awkward to wear sweatpants with clothes they didn't match with. Mom took me shopping and bought me two new pairs at once that were quite expensive but she hoped would be good quality - newsflash, one of them broke within two years. (Levi's!) They don't hold that long if you wear them almost exclusively, especially skinny jeans. I replaced them with second-hand jeans that are thicker material.
How did you do a minimalist wardrobe with a new baby? My baby spits up so much that I feel like I am covered in spit up a lot (read: all the time)? I know all babies are different, just wondering if you went through this with Agatha and how did you manage? I know I can increase how often I do laundry but I already feel so zapped for time (and sleep 🙃🙃). I really enjoy your channel!
I hate clothes and shoes. I'm pretty sure I could throw 80% away and never know its gone. Come to the US and throw my stuff away😂😂🙏. Its always sweet to see ppl wanting to help, it shows such beautiful hearts. Great video
Funny story- when my granddaughter was younger, I used to travel to pick her up from her father’s home. This was during the summer- one time per year. One time when I went to pick her up she commented: “you’re wearing that again?” I laughed because I never noticed until she said it that for 3 years I had worn the same sundress and sandals each year when I picked her up! I have since I don’t have the dress anymore, but it was one that I had and loved for many years.🙂
I'm liking your videos. And your minimalist lifestyle. I think we would all be happier w less. I do like clothes but most of my wardrobe I don't even wear so I am going to downsize.
I don't know why I'm watching this when I have huge gothic wardrobe in two rooms and 3 big shelves for shoes and boots plus a dressing table and a few jewelry boxes xD But half of these things are vintage or from online thrifting, so I don't feel that guilty :p
I think I'd be scared that the clothes I chose wouldn't last if I were to be super minimal with my wardrobe. When it comes to shoes I walk a lot so I rotate. It's not good to wear the same shoes all the time. I hear it is bad for your feet. When you were mentioning you can be whatever you want with your clothes I think is nice. Although if we buy different styles that aren't us then they will just sit in the closet. So in order to do that you really have to know what styles you like and dont like.
I heard about needing to change shoes. However although I have too many pairs of shoes I always wear the same comfy shoes every day 🤣... off to declutter my shoes now. Thank you dear Vila for sharing your Godly wisdom x
I dont know where it came from that you somehow "cant" (whatever) wear the same clothes all the time, god forbidd if you wear the same jeans and tshirt the next day :D I started myself long time ago to think that oh oh I cant wear this tshirt, I had it yesterday..so what. If it doesnt smell :D frequent washing also destroys clothes quicker. I really would love to have less and less but its not easy, I started to get more creative regarding my outfits and I just like to have a choice althou it disturbs me the amount of clothing I own. Well :))
My dauther is 2 and I have to changing her clouse sometimes 10 times per day ... Becouse is wet or cower with mud and I wash every day sometimes 3 times my washing mashin is big
my impression about Russians is like they are all hot temper and very aggressive, because maybe of the movies i watch and I had an officemate before who is a Russian, but it changes after watching you and another youtuber yeah russia.

Having only the amount you need makes things easier. I would be classified as minimal as most people i know have way more clothes than i do. One of the reasond is they never let go of anything but keep adding to their wardrobe. Good idea to periodically go through your clothes and shoes and only keep what you are wearing. They say if you haven't worn it in a year let go of it. Good idea however maybe a year is to soon? I would have 2 pairs of jeans to rotate but thats me.
its crazy how our society has gotten to a point where it's "weird" not to have a giant closet full of shirts

Thanks for your inspiration and sharing your thoughts. Hugs from Spain🤗
Thank you for sharing and for kind words💛
Material things are not important - clothing is secondary. Your FAMILY is YOUR treasure. You are blessed!
Agree with you💛
I have about 6 dresses I rotate through in the spring and summer now. Love them! Great video. Thank you!❤❤❤
I love my small wardrobe too! Its so easy to maintain and my brain feels lighter 😃❤

I thrifted a second hand summer dress that I wore for several years. When I became bored with wearing it I changed it into a skirt so it now has several more years of life. Hello from UK, I love your channel 💞
Great way to make your clothes last longer👏🏻
Not too sure the Removal men will share this concept, when we move house this year 😂🤔
You are delightful. I see your channel is growing, I’m so happy for you.
Thank you! I’m so happy too😍
You are such an adorable person! i love Ur Minimalist Serie of Videos, they have been helping me a lot! Love From Portugal 🇵🇹
Girl I feel sooo purge right now. I need to go and find something to throw out😆
😂
“It’s always pros and cons about everything in life” - so, so true! 👍
I was inspired by your video to get rid of half my clothes and donate them to charity. I’m a 63 year old British woman. Xxx
No stress when it comes to choosing an outfit!
Yes👏🏻
Love the video! Also more cooking videos would be great (if its in your plans!)
I don’t like cooking, to be honest😂 But I’m constantly thinking about any interesting recipes that I’d be able to cook and film☺️
@@VictoriaTerekhina haha!! Well in your earlier cooking video it seemed you were really into it thats why i asked haha! Awesome that you are going to make one soon. Even if you dont, I will be watching all your content! Best wishes
When Agatha is older, if she wants a non-minimalist wardrobe, will you let her?
Well she’s a different person so she can have whatever she wants in her wardrobe when she’ll be interested in it☺️
I really enjoy your positive attitudes.
The white dress with the yellow roses is beautiful and you look lovely in it.
Thank you!😍
I also keep using the same outfits but I don’t think that barely anybody notices or even cares 😁 moreover, the clothes that I do have are things that I really really like and truly enjoy wearing!
Same! Who cares if you're wearing the same thing on Monday, that you wore last Thursday? Who keeps track? 😊
I love your videos and look forward to seeing more! You have inspired me to keep simplifying.
Thank you🌼
What a very pretty girl, No tatoos and no cake on make up.
Thank you☺️
I would love to have a small wardrobe or even an organized wardrobe, I don't know how people do it 😂 I'm such a mess when it comes to organizing.
I’m a mess too most of the time😅 that’s why I keep it small - easier to clean and organize when everything gets messy again🙈
Wish I was like you! But I’m a shopaholic 🤦🏻♀️😩
Remember to wash it still if you pass it on.
So inspiring. I have so many clothes and it creates so much stress because too much choice, mixture of sizes, so much unnecessary washing, folding and ironing. Also the space it takes up is ridiculous. Your videos are motivation to down size my wardrobe.
Kim Kardashian hyper ventilated through this whole video.
very nice; I hope you will get your dream wardrope soon...
We're told that Russians seldom smile or laugh. But you smile and laugh constantly. Great to see it.
The dress with yellow flowers is absolutely beautiful on you.
My wardrobe is miniscule. One less.thing to think.about in a day.
Thank you🌼 Wish you good luck with decluttering process☺️
Good point! I hadn’t even thought of that. Sometimes choosing an outfit feels like a difficult task.
Thank you for kind words☺️
I had a very small wardrobe when I was pregnant and it was very convenient! I'm working towards a smaller wardrobe now by not buying new stuff and keeping only the pieces I really like.
Same here
The one dislike is from a clothing retailer.
😂😂😅
Vika be like: can fit all her, her kid's and husbands clothes in one wardrobe
me, who buys stuff to fill the void in my heart: lives alone and has 3 whole fucking wardrobes and 5 boxes of winter clothing full with pretty shit and sews more
(also привет, вик, хорошего дня!)
💗
SAME!
Two disadvantages of a small wardrobe:
If you gain or lose weight !
You‘re so close to 100 thousand subscribers. Hope you get so many more because you deserve it.
Thank you!😍💛 I’ve never thought I’d reach that milestone!
My closet has about 7 outfits, 3 pair of PJs, an 7 shirts 6shorts ... That's about it. I have " every day" clothes, but that don't count. Your a very lovely person,God bless you!🌸
I'm going to minimize my wardrobe asap
Yes, yes! For you is perfect just minimalist. When it's no dress coding on your workplace, do well-being yourself. I hate the neckties! But oft-time it's obligatory.
Ahhh, I'm always excited to see you on my home page! 💖💖
Thank you😍
It's so hard for me not to look online for dresses. I love colours and patterns and since I worked in a clothing store I simply cannot ignore the new dresses that come out every summer ❤️
I’m curious, how much is your rent each month?
And what’s the average income a month?
@@VictoriaTerekhina it’s a safety zone, like jeans telling me “you’ll be fine girl” :-) Thanks for the comment
Every time I declutter, my wardrobes fill up again in no time. I love clothes, I love shopping, it's my passion lol. I dumped about 15 handbags today, go me 🤭
Too funny! When I was moving I donated so many clothes and bags. But I think after 4 years I have accumulated the same amount again 😂
Lovely video. I love clothes, but you inspire me to think harder before buying something.
Thank you💛
I love your white & yellow floral dress. You look beautiful 💛
Thank you🌼
Your dress with the yellow flowers looks great on you.
Thank you🌼
You are such an inspiration to me. I find your attitude refreshing and the fact that you are true to yourself. We need more people like you and your lovely family in this world. Keep making videos!
Thank you for kind words☺️
Will you teach Agatha English? Do you speak any other languages besides Russian and English?
I like that you are a practical and not consumerist person. We should all learn from you. Greetings from Mexico.
I admire minimalist living..I agree all the positive things you said. I don't care about the negative.
Great video new subscriber ..your videos are amazing ..how old are you ?
Great video
Some Americans go overboard on clothes. I have a friend who has at least 75 pairs of jeans and about 200 blouses (tops)!
More people should be like you! You are very good. I’m thinning my wardrobe today!
Thank you for sweet words☺️
What beauty products are you using? Like for shower, hair washing. If you make them diy, then you could do a video about it
I don't know why I'm watching this when I have huge gothic wardrobe in two rooms and 3 big shelves for shoes and boots plus a dressing table and a few jewelry boxes xD But half of these things are vintage or from online thrifting, so I don't feel that guilty :p
i cant explain why but your voice is soothing somehow 🤗
With kids jeans and top easy good look and not worry lol love from Victoria Australia 🇭🇲 we do the same .
Very good videos and contexts... can you make more videos with your baby she is so cute :))
Hi. People are weird buying all the time new Stuff. Not you❤️
I dont know where it came from that you somehow "cant" (whatever) wear the same clothes all the time, god forbidd if you wear the same jeans and tshirt the next day :D I started myself long time ago to think that oh oh I cant wear this tshirt, I had it yesterday..so what.
I get it now because I was the opposite I had too much stuff! I like having less now I don’t worry so much about space to put things.
my impression about Russians is like they are all hot temper and very aggressive, because maybe of the movies i watch and I had an officemate before who is a Russian, but it changes after watching you and another youtuber yeah russia.
If you live in an area in drought and you have a well, doing laundry often isn't an option. Sigh.
