looks like he was thinking of throwing a butterfly kick, but then decided he wanted to go for a leg scissor, so he just did half of each and fell on the ground.

My crazy move was trying a spin kick against a guy who started in TKD then moved to Muay Thai and he just push kicked me in the butt mid spin. Great sparring partner. Shout out to Josh!
I thought he might have been trying to go for kani basami, the judo technique but it's hard to say for sure.

Leg Scissor takedown which is specialty move in Sanda and Judo
If you are a Elite Grappler there's no problem in doing these type of attack, It could be a trap to pull guard now if your ground game are horrible it's stupid.
My sentiments exactly, thank you. I'm sure there is no patting at all under that flooring, he was just flailing arm punches that managed to do him, a single all knuckle arm punch to the forehead cut him open. They should provide more safety for these combatants who are just doing this for fun and have to pay for all their injuries, go to work the next day etc.
Who's checking the gloves, the wraps etc. I used to do smokers like this and it's wack. I fractured my elbow simply doing a take down, you can hear everyone's bones hit the ground under the paper thin mat, or in this case, what appears to be an outdoor carpet.

If I'm generous, it was a horrible attempt at kani basami or maybe a flying armbar. He moved like someone who's only ever done BJJ, but it ended up like he tried to convert it into a bad capoeira-like kick

I doubt he expected it to work. He clearly knew what he was doing on the ground and was setting up submissions, unfortunately he got knocked out. What I wanna know is, what is under that... What is that flooring, an outside carpet? There appears to be no give whatsoever. You can see he actually managed to cut his forehead with a left hook that was all knuckles, with the power generated only from arm punches.
So.... A lot of non-competitive strikers think one kick or one punch will do the trick. 'The one-punch fantasy''

The bald guy is in his 50s I give him huge props for just getting in there. That being said he should have stuck to strong basics and not a low percentage move to open with. Make the young guy earn everything.
Left leg drops the hands.. right heel kick to chin...amazingly he actually lands the right heel..its not hard enough and puts himself in horrible position.
Bet he felt pretty dumb, whatever he was trying to accomplish...

Lmfao! To me this looks like the case of another cocky BJJ guy that's a little too excited, believes he is God, went for a Siscor Sweep and failed miserably. BJJ becoming mc dojos and not teaching people how to properly take the fight to the ground is a real thing.

The Main Problem is Jiu Jitsu Takedown are not in the Same level of Wrestling, Judo Takedown it's the Biggest weakness of BJJ.
BJJ are enough to Takedown Pure Strikers but when they fight against a Elite Catch Wrestler like Sakuraba or Sambo Champion like Islam we know what happen.
u never experiment in the ring or on the street, w have gyms and dojos for that nonsense, thats why he got beat up😑😣🙄😒
