I think he's a real estate agent hunting for $60,000 commissions for selling one of these lake houses. It's like when you ask the internet for a review on office chairs, and all the reviews are talking about $1,500 chairs. That's because if you buy a chair, the reviewer gets a percentage of the price.
So be a cocksucker about your own failures, and project them onto everyone else...
It's hella cold in the winter. Its cold to swim in and the weather can turn it nasty fast. Id be concerned about the ice shoves too. I grew up near it. Its poluted and smells in places. Not interested in living near it again. Dont forget the bands of dead minnows and other random carcasses that are dried out in the sand due to the afforementioned pollution.
My brother lives in Ludington, 3 blocks from Lake Michigan. We have a cottage in Lewiston on a small lake, but currently live in Detroit. Planning on moving up north in roughly a year, not exactly sure where yet, too many areas I absolutely love!
What counties do you cover, how far north?
Depends on what you’re looking for. But I have gone up to Traverse City multiple times. I cover a pretty good chunk! I also love to go up north.

I'm preparing to move back to Michigan from California. What I've noticed with California weather is you can get warmer summers the further inland you are.
What I'm curious to learn, is if there is a similar effect with Lake Michigan. And if there is, what would be the ideal distance from the Lake to not experience the extremes in wind, but to feel the lake effect of a cooler summer.
I would say that’s partially accurate with Lake Michigan. Let me do some research on that. That’s a great question! It definitely still does not get as hot here as it does in California. I would imagine though if I had to guess 5 miles or so inland from the lake you could get Cooler temperatures, but not get the extreme wind.
The closer you live to Lake Michigan the cooler it is. It keeps you cooler in the summer. You cannot go very far away from the lake because it will be hot. I live in St. Joe on Lake Michigan. Even a ¼ mile in or less is hotter.
