    Excellent video, I myself would Thoroughly blow all the dust the dirt off from the engine, as well as the front filter in front of the radiator and clean out all the dust that you can before doing the oil change

    As far as the air cleaner recall upgrade issue, it's not the bracket that cracks, the vibration at shut off causes the bracket to crack the valve cover and let pieces fall down into the engine causing catastrophic failure. I didn't get the kit upgrade, I just took the bracket off, you don't need it.

    I’ve always been recommended just regular old Mobil 1 5w30 for my 4310 with the 3 cyl yanmar, never any issues

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  Год назад

      That's surprising. Mobil 1 5W-30 is not a HDEO, and most certainly is not a recommended engine oil for the 1025R Yanmar engine. That does not mean running it will grenade your engine. I trust engine manufacturing engineers to spec the oil for a specific engine. The biggest variable is ambient temperature followed by bearing tolerance.
      A good diesel engine can take tons of abuse, and running a lighter than spec oil is a very, very minor form of abuse, but what are your ambient temps? Barrow Alaska is fine for 5W-30 whereas Miami Florida not so much.

      My original air filter brackets are hanging tough, they're not even cracked.
      I have the necessary part numbers. It's probably a matter of when and not if, but when they do crack I'll just order the new brackets.
      That little Yanmar, it sure can vibrate at idle can't it?

      Your air filter update might be a freebie fix from JD. - Deere solution number is #113718

      If the bracket breaks the intake runner cover that it is bolted to, and pieces of the cover are ingested by the engine, it is a catastrophic engine failure.

    nice video sir. maybe I missed it- but is that the oil JD recommends? thanks

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Chris and thanks for watching!
      Yes, in the owner's manual it recommends a 15w-40 engine oil, with the exception of the first 100 hours, where it is recommended to use John Deere's 10w-30 Break-in Oil.
      I change the oil early in an engine's life, so at the 50 hour mark on this 1025R, I stayed with the break-in oil, then went to Rotella T at 100 hours.
      You can't go wrong with any major brand oil, just stick with manufacturers recommended viscosity (at your temperatures).

    How many quarts of oil does it take to

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  Год назад

      A good long drain and filter change should hold 2.9 quarts.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @jack8356
    @jack8356 4 года назад

    So my tractor might of had 2 quarts of oil over. And it burned a lot of oil when it was turned on. Do u know if the engine was ruined. It wouldnt stop. After a few minutes it finnaly stopped any idea if the engine needs to be cleaned? I know its a stupid question but please excuse that

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  4 года назад

      Hi Jack, the danger of over filling a crankcase is the crankshaft beating the oil to where it contains lots of air and air bubbles.If your engine is fairly clean, I would just drain and refill to the proper level.
      These little Yanmars hold 2.9 to 3.0 quarts so 2 quarts over is a considerable amount.
      As to why your engine would not shut off when the key was turned.....I don't know.
      The key shuts the fuel off and that should kill the engine.
      Good luck and thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@pmtips4482 i did some research and its because i used 5w 30 synthetic oil. Its too thin for a tractor. Because its so thin it caused what they call a "runaway". Thats when the engine keeps going until either it blows up or when it stabilizes like my. I changed the oil to 10w 40 and changed the filter for the new oil. It burned the rest of what was in the engine and now its running smooth. No leaks no explosions thankfully.😂😂😂😂😂

  • @JoseAntonio-pb7nd
    @JoseAntonio-pb7nd 5 лет назад

    Hey have you ever considered using synthetic on that yanmar diesel engine?

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  5 лет назад

      Hi Jose! I'll probably stick with Rotella T in 15W-40 for my conditions here, but I may try Rotella's synthetic blend in the same weight. My main reason for not going to a full synthetic is not cost, but the fact I only put about 60 to 70 hours on the little Yanmar engine before changing the oil. I don't push OCIs on any of my engines. I just can't see the value in doing that.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

    • @waltbennett5503
      @waltbennett5503 4 года назад +1

      Found out several years back that there's no real advantage for synthetic in diesel engines - the oil gets contaminated by soot and fuel after so many hours or miles and has to be changed no matter what. It's far more important to change the oil at the recommended intervals than having synthetic or regular.
