Glad you brought him up Ralph! He was featured on one of the trumpet podcasts, and he tells the story of how for years he was crushing all of Vegas, getting all of the work, doing all of the shows, and then suddenly his chops crashed and burned. Just gone. He didn't know what happened and especially didn't know how to fix it. Enter his buddy Patrick Hession, who was Maynard's last lead trumpet guy. Hession tells him he can fix him. He first tells Falcone to play double pedals. Falcone said it was "You know...Callet stuff". Said it was the worst sounding stuff and made no sense to him at all. Hession said "Nevermind, just play it, it gets better." Pretty soon, the double pedals starting speaking better and clearer, and then Hession started him on other basic exercises, basically building him up from the foundation of double pedals. I have no further information on whether Hession uses any other parts of Jerry's method.
Mark, WOW!! I never heard that! He is still working too hard! Doesn't surprise me a bit that he was having trouble at one time! We ALL do!! He still gets it done! Keep in touch, Ralph
Hello, I just came across your video about me. I thought I’d address the compression and the working too hard comment. Yes, I absolutely compress my air. If I was working too hard I wouldn’t be able to play a double d at the end of the night. Btw- I didn’t have a red carpet rolled out for me 😂
danny, Nice to hear from you! Nothing but admiration for your results! I HOPE that came through in the vid. I hesitate to comment on players (like yourself) that i don't know personally. With SM the way it is all this material is right there in front of you so I do my best from afar! I do get to LV every now and then to hang with Perrico etc. I would LOVE to take a "lesson" with you and just pick your brain? Thanks for the insight & keep in touch, Ralph PS Did you ever try Jeryy's 1SB mouthpiece? Perrico has several if you wish to try one out. Tom Delibre plays a version of it as well. R

Compression and correct tongue placement: that's the key.
hermes, Correct ongure lacement CREATES compression! Good stuff! Ralph
@@truepowertrumpet7151 thanks A LOT Ralph, especially for introducing me to Sylas.
Just finished 100 goblet squats. Feel great. Chops feel good too.
Not working hard, just efficiently playing. No possible way to play this book without being efficient.
