    So you recommend eating COLD, cooked sweet potatoes. Boiled or baked or roasted? I bought the less sweet YAMS.

      Cook it anyway you choose and then cool it preferably 12 to 24 hours. The same goes for rice and pasta. I would not keep it longer than a few days though.

      You don’t have to eat them cold. Sweet potatoes, rice, and white potatoes reduce carbs once it’s refrigerated. You can reheat or eat it cold. It’s the refrigeration of the starch that lowers the carb index.

    Boil them is best. Lower glycemic index when boiled. Also refrigerate is good to lower glycemic index.

    Eat protein first and get it into your bloodstream, wait 1-2 mins, and that much sweet potato will not be able to make your blood sugar rise. Protein stabilizes your blood sugar. Don’t undereat nor overeat your protein because that changes blood sugar stabilization.

      This is not correct according to Dr Mandell. In another video he said you can reheat cold rice, pasta or potatoes and the glycemic value will remain the same as it was when it was cold.

      If you decide to like eat them tomorrow morning, remove them from the freezer tonight and eat them cold in the morning. I did that today and it tasted very nice, and my sugar levels did not go crazy like before, boiling and eating them straight away. He did a rice one as well

      You can warm rice, spaghetti but for bread 🍞 toast it instead and sweet potato remove from the freezer on the night if you want to eat in the following morning. For best results with my own experience as I am diabetic my sugar levels are much more lower when I put my cooked good in the freezer and NOT FRIDGE,

      As a diabetic myself, when I freezer them my sugar levels are very low, like for sameone who didn't eat carb's. And it tastes better as well

    This is a issue,when on diet, i love potato, in all forms,but they are not what to eat when loosing weight.
    This advice van make it a bit easyer to eat SOME potato, at least.

    Dr Mandel I bake at three medium size sweet potato every other week at one time and put in refrigerator but I take one out of the refrigerator, cut it in half and rewarm it in the toaster oven and eat it as a side with my meals and sometimes I eat it as a snack. Is that ok?

    Another great video by the superb doctor. To answer everyone's question, in another video, Dr Mandell stated that reheating cold rice, potato or pasta would not change the glycemic index from when it was cold.

    So you said boiling them helps with the glycemic index, but how about baking them in the oven? I always throw them in the oven whole and then refrigerate them for the week. Does baking them do the same thing as boiling?

      I think you can store it in the refrigerator before cooking too…same with potatoes 🥔.

    The same for rice. After cooking it, Putin refrigerator overnight. You can warm it up some when you eat it but not scorching hot.

    Yes the are better the next day. Less spike and sweeter!
    Try the Japanese Sweet Potatoes they are the best!! Sprouts & WF have them.
    I eat 2 with a pound of chopped steamed broccoli & cabbage.

    Does one get the same benefits if you refrigerate your potatoes before you cook them? I know refrigerating before cooking changes the starchs in some way. Can you explain, if there is a difference?

      Chromium piccolinate. Will regulate blood sugar .....my dad ran out of NORPRAMIN NPH...insulin....by mail....we gave him chromium, watched him never left him....3 weeks, doctor visit too, nobody knew he had no insulin injections. 2x a day. Stomach, thighs.....his doctor said, Whatever you doing keep doing it , best numbers in years, no bad report. I know its person to person on how effective. It always helps...not expensive. We saw it, old 1980s NIGHTLY NEWS w Dan Rather..BIG PHARM w medical schools, CONTROLS MEDICAL knowledge released. Its all their money at your life risk.

    I have raw sweet potatoes in fridge.
    If i cook them in the oven will still be starch resistant.
    Or do i have to bake it first the put in the fridge and only eat it cold?

      They have to be cooked first before chilling. BTW, this also works with white rice.

      @@wentzel8269 No, I am borderline between pre-diabetes into T2 so I don’t need to monitor that closely though many find it necessary to do so. I am also a traitor to my Russian heritage in that I am not a great lover of potatoes LOL. I think the general rule to follow is to try to keep the carbs at any meal/snack under 20 grams, 15 if you can manage in order to avoid glucose spikes. You would have to look it up to see how much potato that you can have.
