I love Disney. I always have and always will. But if they don't get their act together and stop putting all their focus on money then I worry that their whole company's going to be ruined in the end.

These movie franchise are still gonna around they already tranfer movies and also employee that made the over to Walt Disney Animation studio umbrella plus their making an Ice Age spin off tv series based on the films even without Blue Studio. They gonna release Ice Age TV Series when Blue Studio is its not gonna be existed.
Am I the only one who's realized that Disney is making less and less animated movies and more shitty live action movies and adaptations that nobody even remembers?

I am struggling to believe what is real at this point. This news really knocked the wind out of me. Rio is one of my favorite animated movies of all time, and to see Blue Sky Studios shut down is really depressing as all hell. At this point, I really don’t know what to believe anymore. This news was nothing but shocking. Rest in power Blue Sky.
Yeah, I grew up play the Angry Birds Rio games when I was younger. And I also watched their movies, never knew it was made by Disney though.

I'm extremely saddened and disappointed by this news cause while Blue Sky isn't as well known or popular as the animated films released by Disney, DreamWorks, Illumination, Sony Pictures Animation or achieve the Critical acclaim as Pixar, I grew up with their animated films and it was one of the animation Studios that Disney decided to keep following the Fox Acquisition back in March 2019. But due to COVID-19 and other financial issues happening right now they decided to shut them down.
It's going to be interesting what's going to happen with the Blue Sky IP library because they had the _Adventures of Buck Wild_ set to come out on Disney+ next year, so more than likely Disney is going to treat Blue Sky as a name only brand like "Hanna-Barbera" from within 20th Century Animation. 😔
Still, I'm extremely saddened of the talented artists and people who worked at Blue Sky loosing their Jobs right now following this announcement.
Well... the good thing is that Disney is looking for jobs for the Blue Sky employees and artists at Walt Disney Animation or at Pixar Animation Studios

I feel the same way, Ice Age is and will always be my jam of favorite animated movies to this day (except for the fifth one which was meh), same case for Robots, Rio, and of course Peanuts that was their prime top and one of the best animated movies of the decade. It's really sad to see them go, I would have preferred if they had sold it to another studio, people like Netflix, AppleTV and Paramount would have done wonders for them

Look, even if Disney didn’t buy Fox, I think it would’ve still shut down due to the box office numbers of their movies (even Ice Age 5) was never really that great.
Comparatively speaking, Blue Sky was more successful when Disney was making 2D animation films.
You want Disney to fail? Have them bring back 2D animation. I’m sure you’ll have a lot of kids not wanting to go because they’d look at the 2D movies as “for babies” or “for girls.”
@@carsfan1995 - That’s basically why Disney stopped 2D. They went back to it for PATF but it failed cause everyone was too use to CGI/3D animation and idiots saw 2D as just for little kiddies. Even more so given that this movie had princess in the title cause god forbid you can have a good animated movie about a princess.

Just goes to show how much power Disney has. They own like 40% of the entire entertainment industry. If they weren't already a monopoly, they are slowly becoming one.

I just don’t know how to handle this. I know Blue Sky Studios films have kinda gone down in goodness but still Rio was one of the first movies from that studio I watched and I love the movie. I just don’t know what to say.

Anyone remember Fox Animation Studios? The studio that made Anastasia, Titan A.E. and Bartok the Magnificent?
They shut that animation studio down because Titan A.E. flopped at the box office and people weren’t interested in 2D films in the early-2000s.
Disney had no involvement in Fox Animation being closed down. Fox just really doesn’t know what to do about their animation studio, let alone how to manage their own financial troubles prior to the acquisition.

I think we must all accept the fact that the future of Blue Sky Studios was in vain, and even though the studio did not win an Oscar or a Golden award or an Annie the studio had good films, we will always remember them.

Spies In Disguise was pretty good and did decent at the box office.
I've read many of the 450 unemployed workers from Blue Sky are going to be moved into Disney Animation Studios. As for Nimona, there have been some animation fans advocating for another studio to pick up the film, but I sadly doubt that'll happen. This is coming from someone who would've loved to see it hit the screen.

Not really.
I only have Horton Hears a Who and Robots on DVD (which I can’t seem to find the latter) and tons of Disney stuff. Epic was just okay and not something I would really care to watch again despite the trailer hyping me up. Peanuts was their best movie and that’s mainly thanks to Charles Schultz’s family for being involved with the production. Nimona was the first Blue Sky film I had any interest in.
I at least came out of every Disney and Pixar film I’ve seen with the desire to watch it again and learn more about the production because of the quality.

Most movie studios never reopen after they closed, and instead get consolidated by the bigger one that owns them.
For Nimona, the best chance is that another studio picks it up.

The studio was a sinking ship because Fox really doesn’t know how to manage their animation studios. Remember Fox Animation Studios?

A similar financing and sales deal with Reliance Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios (also as Touchstone Pictures) meant for over 30 movies in just 20 years never saw fit anyway, as only half of that was even completed under their independence again.

they owned the rights to it at the time they bought 20th century fox

Yes, R.I.P., I watched the first Ice Age movie in theatres back when I was younger in the 2000s. The last movie I watched made by the studio was Spies in Disguise. It was the last official movie produced by the studio, before it will shut down soon.
Well if that’s the case it’s a pretty good send off for them cause I adored Spies in Disguise.
And we thought 2021 was gonna be better. But no, and now we got this. Dang.

I once had a nightmare about the main characters from ice age got mad at me and my brother because we fought over a carebear. They then sung Chaco Guerrero’s entrance theme with lyrics about how we sucked.

Why, they’re more successful than ever. They just have to navigate carefully as they just bought Fox and have a ton of debt and now have to suffer from Covid. Once this is over Disney will be extremely successful and might even get in the top 10 largest companies list.

i got recommended all of the movies you listed in the video, and i chuckled a bit when i accidentally read the title as i heard you, but its a shame seeing the company that made such good movies like rio and robots go.

Rest in peace, Blue Sky. You had an amazing run and I'll remember a good few of your movies fondly.
One thing we hope for sure is Scrat to finally catch that acorn one last time without any harm.
Also, if there's any Disney company that can handle future material for Blue Sky's franchises (especially Ice Age and Rio; that is if they continue even after the Disney+ series), Pixar should.
We will never get our promised Rio 3
