100 Disney Channels Are Shutting Down

  • Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior have been losing popularity, along with many other cable channels under the Disney brand. Because of this, more shutdowns are on the way around the world, as entertainment takes a new path in streaming.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek mentioned that 100 Disney Channels will be shutting down throughout 2021, as most of the content will instead be placed on streaming service Disney Plus. The important question is: when will we get new episodes of The Owl House, Amphibia, and Big City Greens on the streaming service the day they air? At that point, Disney Channel will likely be gone.

But THIS?! THIS is the last straw!
    I will NOT accept this!
I grew more patient as I waited for commercials to be over. As a child I learned more about time and schedules as I tried to figure out when a new episode of my favorite show would air.
I have forced myself to accept the many changes to TV in these changing times, changes that took away what I loved about cable.
Disney Channel was my main favorite channel for my whole childhood.
How BADLY do they want people to buy Disney+ that they think it's okay to go this far?!?
Marketing? Changing with the times?! Give me a break!!

Even if Disney’s doing crap like this it doesn’t mean everyone will. They’re always chasing after the next cash grab. But not everything is like this. Other than working some with Paramount+, Nickelodeon isn’t switching over to streaming services, and neither is Cartoon Network.
Disney always sucks tho. And tbh they actually should have an equal competitor so they’re not this big and the only corporation with this much power. But I think the only thing we have to compare it to is Netflix, yet they’re actually somehow more humble than Disney😪
Hopefully someone will step in at some point and make Disney distribute some of their IPs/power/money, cuz it’s too much.

Actually there was an interview conducted way back in 1960 sometime with them talking about exactly what the peanut episodes were going to be about, as well as exactly what Apple TV was going to be in the future as well. So the Peanuts episodes are not exactly stolen on there. I was thinking roughly the exact same potential thought before I somehow came across that interview. The episodes are infact different than from the stuff that I have seen at least. UGHH I don't know ANYONE here who has streaming subscription to Disney+! I get that US is "going forward" n' stuff but, sh*t, Disney Channel and XD were my damn childhood!
I see no potential in those "streaming services", I had a trial of Netflix once and while it was nice to see the series you want, but after you finished it, there is nothing to watch. There are no commercials, and you are not forced to watch something, when there's nothing else to watch, like on TV, and doesn't introduce you to a show you might like.
I may need time to get used to this ideology of "watching whatever you want", but for now, I just think it's pointless and more of sidenote to TV rather than it's own thing. Like if you like a show on TV, you can watch / rewatch it on the streaming service. But, as I said, it may need some time to get used to it.

    • @shadeskitsune7830

What makes streaming services a pain for me is that before I could have watch a Disney movie then maybe a cartoon networks show like Ed Edd n Eddy afterwords. Now I would have to fork over another 20 to 50 bucks monthly subscription to another streaming service to watch ONE show cause they don't want their content on another platform. I can understand it from a business point and not complaining about shows that are specifically made on and for their streaming service. Still doesn't make any less annoying.
I just started watching 101 Dalmatian street on cable, I live in the US. My family is paying enough for just three streaming services we barely use and cable. If Disney cuts the cord and force me to pay for streaming just to watch a show I patiently waited to come to my region on cable. All I can say is that mouse is starting to look more like a rat each passing day.

Hi, Thank you so much for uploading this, due to upgrading my PVR, I unfortunately lost recordings of various Disney shows that I Had saved on there. As TV is currently In an ever-changing landscape, it is rather unfortunate that this involves the lack of commercials, which help pace out and Add to the overall Experience, providing things such as the news and advertisements of what was going on in the world at the time, to providing moments of brevity and helping build up suspense and engagement, which is after all how and why television is structured the way it is. Therefore, if anyone reading this has any access to any of the English speaking versions of any of the following shows with commercials built into them Or at least the separate commercial breaks that they could possibly upload or provide a link to, it would be truly gratefully appreciated. I am aware that some of the Channel websites May still have them, but these are a couple of years old, so I don’t think they are still airing on there, but just anyway that I could get access to the following with commercials will again be truly gratefully appreciated. And yes, I’ve tried RUclips and what was available on demand on my Canadian Bell Fibe TV service. The shows that I am looking for are as follows: All of tangled the series season one, including tangled before ever after The last eight episodes of miles from tomorrowland season two All of ravens home season one All episodes of Sofia the first from pirate away to the last episode before Forever Royal All of once upon a time season seven All of the gifted season one and episodes 1 2 4 7 and 11 of season two All of season one of Cloak and dagger
