I’m 69yrs old and Amy was the best/singer songwriter of my generation! I lived though the 50’s onwards and no one comes close to this female talented artist! Bless you Amy, thank you so much for your music 😘
she's made for a small crowd, I don't mean it in a bad way but I think her music deserves to be heard really clearly which is impossible if you got a big crowd
She did mention in a interview that large crowds give her some anxiety, and then Blake mentioned in an interview after she died that that’s why she would drink during shows.
Ah same. I was around 7 or 8 when back to black came out, always heard it on the radio, but all I'd see of Amy was the tabloid bullshit. I never really understood her and what she was about till like a year ago, when I revisited Jazz for some inspiration vocally and musically. I've always loved Metal and Rock but just felt like branching out ya know, started with some Billie and Ella, the really classic stuff. I didn't think there was anything like that anymore, that jazz soul.. but then I finally listened to her first record Frank, which I had never heard and just fell in love. I never knew her story, and soon I found how similar I am to how she was. I remember when she died man, felt like a part of me went missing and I didn't even know it. she came, she conquered, she flew away... love her forever
After watching the documentary Amy on Netflix, it's saddening to me that the songs that shot her into the limelight were written out of desperate heartbreak. Imagine having to relive that every time you perform.
i think making these songs actually helped her process her feelings and manage her pain, but maybe you're right. maybe it really stuck the knife deeper
She was lonely. Special. I feel she just had this raw innate talent, talent doesn't even qualify as a ward to express what she had, but she became so busy and famous so young before she had a chance to figure out how to manage her special personality. She was a victim of money, other people's love of it.
I know this is not the same but she always makes me do my school work. I even ordered an English book to learn better English just to better understand her and her music. I even found an English friend 🥺
When I'm stupidity happy I listen to Amy, when I'm sad as fuck I listen her as well. Tomorrow I'll go for my hiv test :/ I've been hearing Amy all day :(
It’s like she only uses the first level of her voice and when she hits the high notes she isn’t even trying, it’s just comes out like it’s nature. It’s so organic and there’s no sign of trying to sing, she just is the song. There’s so much ease in her. her albums were only the start of greatness on a level nobody ever started in.
@Acha Red if you watch her from the start and perhaps even near the end of some of the live performances - well for one thing, she is the song and when she's through it's like she has just woken up and that, sweet, "thank you" and smile....I know your comment is 2 yrs ago and hey, 2019, we'll always listen to Amy. : )
This.. the voice, the simple bass line, the church setting, the lighting. Her affectations and the seeming lack of, yet perfect control… This is just musical perfection
Marisol Romo ...the original is the same beat as ain’t no mountain high enough that’s why it’s so genius, but yea I agree this lets her lyrics and singing shine way stronger
You can tell she is really clear headed and solid in this performance. No drugs or alcohol, just really focused and crisp. Makes it shitter knowing how great she was when on form.
@@danmarinellix yeah i know but im talking about her performance not really her size drugs and alcohol contributed to her voice not being all the way therw
Do you remember the first time you heard Amy Winehouse? that feeling that you can't hear anything anymore, because your ears touched the sky for a moment and everything else is just... that deep, intoxicating voice scares me to this day. Some people are born with a star, Amy was certainly one of them. Happy 40th birthday, Amy 🖤🖤🖤

An absolute natural. If she would have been singing a jazz standard her voice alone would have been special and unique. She wrote this too, the complete package.
+The 27 Club Band Corner listed her cause of death as "Misadventure" which is a death "that is primarily attributed to an accident which occurred due to a dangerous risk which was taken voluntarily." Throughout my teenage years and my adulthood, Amy taught me how to be my own best friend. I listened to this song in particular at my lowest lowest points. We lost her too soon
MAN!! She was so good!! Anybody who has ever spent any time around live music knows how good she made it live. That 50’s-60’s style she had always struck a chord with me. She reminded me of my childhood. She sounded like….just like Ronnie sang……be my little baby…
Such a precious rare gem; she should have been treasured and protected at all costs 😔😢 Your light will never be forgotten Amy. We miss you so much 🥰 Hope you’re truly at peace now 🙏🏾❤️

Unrefined, so true... in the kindest sense of the word
This isn't unrefined, she is a jazz singer, the way she plays with every syllable and fills it with emotion.

When she sings the line... "I should've been my own best friend" it just breaks my heart she couldn't manage that. RIP UK Soul Queen.
