She deserves to be remembered for her talent not her downfall.
Very true.
That's how I remember her...for her brilliance...
Eventually, she will be.
This music video was surely a cry for help.
@@Sisterlisk Amy explained: "'Tears Dry On Their Own' is a track about the breakup with Blake, my ex. Most of these songs are about him. I shouldn't have been in a relationship with him because he was already involved with someone else a bit too close to home. The song is about when we split up and saying to myself: 'Yes, you're sad but you'll get over it.' And I did."
I don’t think it was a cry for help it was more to reflect on the Toxic Relationship that Blake and her had.
i hate it when people say she was just irresponsible and stupid. she purposefully took too much alcohol, she knew that her heart couldn't take any more, she was told by doctors. It was her last resort because she didn't know how else to escape, so don't just say she was wreckless with drugs. she had a very hard life, she struggled with bulimia and depression since 15. Even when she needed a break, no one told her to stop. Her OWN dad told her to carry on with touring only so more money would come in. No one understood her struggle. when she took to drugs in the form of escape, the media only crushed her more. someone can only take so much.
+Abigail Thomson Amy Winehouse
+Abigail Thomson ...well said...you nailed girl!
Years of bulimia was the trigger, affects the ticker and the addictions were too much; heart failure.
+Abigail Thomson I agree with you 100% i watched the movie, and i couldn't believe how her dad acted with her,it made me sad,she just needed some help, and break from all this shit she was going trough,i'm really pissed she died so young, even if she didn't created single album she had so much life ahead,R.I.P Amy
+Abigail Thomson Niice said sweetheart you know how the pieces fall in there place :)
+Abigail Thomson Well said, in such cases people always know and in the end might choose their way to die, surrendering to their greatest passions, those bad habits. I believe this attitude is truly unperceivable for people who have never been involved in such stuff.
She wasn't crazy or strange, just an aching soul looking for relief. She loved music more than anything, I miss her and her voice. Wish I could've been there to help her ya know...a voice that is in a class of it's own. So young with natural gifts.
for real she deserved better
What is she talking about anyway?
Cuz that is ain't singing for sure
She is so overrated she really sounds like a shit,
I just can't find any freaking talent that justified any of this
Pena no haberla conocido antes. Tan linda.
Same, she was so sweet she gave love and was so in love and suffered a lot and it destroyed her.
I miss her 💔💔.
Lovin' how the video shows she's surrounded by so many people and crowds, but deep down she's full of mourning feelings, loneliness, and at the end of the day nothing really entertains her, it's still her and her emptiness.
this weird feeling is enhanced by the enthusiastic instrumental. it clashes with the sad lyrics of this song.
@@dublancdedinde original version of this song which appears on CD 'Lioness Hidden Treasures’ is so much sadder and more ballad I think
These weird people from suburb walking in the streets with her was one the most pleasant aesthetics I've ever seen

This is, in my opinion, the best song Amy Winehouse ever released. I am so sad that she is no longer with us.
Yes this one hurts. I definitely know she deserved better. Damn it
Your comment suggests that she is, I know she still walks with me.
I love this song but my favourite is Love is a Losing Game
Agree
I miss her so much! I always felt like I KNOW her
I watched the documentary "Amy" for the second time tonight. I'm primarily a rocker, so when she was at her height she was barely on my radar. I was aware of "Rehab" and her bad reputation in the press, but that was it. And like so many, I gave her music a chance only after she died. Immediately I could tell this was something special and I bought "Back to Black". I couldn't believe this was the same person comedians and journalists were painting as some dirty, good for nothing junkie. The sophistication, sensitivity and pain, not to mention her melodic gifts, immediately overwhelmed me. It's easy to romanticize someone after they're gone. Amy wasn't perfect and made some bad decisions, but she was also so authentic and gifted. You get the feeling that she was willing to die for her music. It sounds strange to say this, but I went into a deep depression after absorbing the album. There was a sense of loss, as if I had known her personally. And I did in a way, through the music. She was no longer some disheveled media caricature to me, but a real person with an open and wounded heart. I was going through my own problems with addiction and relationships at the time so the music especially spoke to me. So much so that I can hardly bear to listen to the full record now because it provokes a real sense of grief. I love her almost like I love an ex girlfriend. Maybe more, because she bared it all without holding back. There's no game playing when I hear a song like "Wake up Alone", which is a real heartbreaker. There's no shame in dying, nor failure. Not even dying young. The shame would be if she died broken hearted, and I fear that maybe she did. After Blake and her media crucifixion she seemed broken. And that's just so sad because she was so beautiful and so full of raw, true emotion. She deserved better than a brief, unhappy life. I hope at the end, sitting there watching her videos one last time and having a drink before finally going to sleep, that it dawned on her how much she really accomplished and had to be proud of. Now the tears are ours to cry.
pape37 beautiful
So well said.
Your words brought tears to my eyes.
pape37 this made me cry, so well written it's like you placed my own thoughts after watching the documentary, to paper.
pape37 that was exactly what i felt after watching the doc.. i always liked her but after this doc i loved her.. asaf did a wonderful job..it was like i've lost someone very close to me.. It makes me mad,not sad, that we will never have the chance to hear new music from her..or watch her perform.. most of all, watch her grow.. i dont know if she can see us from where she and so many others may be, but i hope she gets all the love we send her .. even now..hope you have a great day,xx

My favorite Amy's song, it sounds so much like Motown standards. I could listen to it again and again and never get tired of it
yes! and I would say she was very familar with early motown, Amy was an amazing artists
For me, this is THE amy song. I know people will say it’s b2b, and rehab and Valerie; but this just seems to cover so much - guilt, love/hate, and you can almost feel like she COULD recover from all the difficulties she was going through that was so well publicised. It’s such a beautifully haunting song and imo, her best ❤❤❤❤
Agreed, it’s my fav song from her, b2b is second.
and what I’ve always loved about Amy, is that whatever she writes and sings about, she delivers it in a way that makes it like you’ve experienced it.
Each of her songs were unique and soulful just like her. You could hear the words of her singing and feel it to. We miss you Amy
She had borderline personality disorder that she was frightened to have diagnosed and I believe that’s the reason she died she thought having therapies and thing would stop her song writing creativity and it burns so much that she isn’t here wen shit heads that are pretending to be something they ain’t and never will be it sucks I miss her so much
Yo estoy de acuerdo contigo! I agree with and for the reasons you mentioned. Plus the Marvin Gaye, Tammy Terrell Aint No Mountain High Enough sample sets it all off!!! I honored her for my Days of The Dead altar (am a Spanish Language and Culture teacher) and read that she told her doc the day before she passed "I don't want to die" then she went home and drank herself to death 💔💔💔. She is in my top 5 fave sangers of all time! RIP Amy Jade Winehouse 😇🕊
Her eyes show so much sadness and pain, the world did her dirty. Rip beautiful girl :')
Baby we can't blame the world but the people inside this world are really sad 😥
How the hell do you blame the world for your choices.
I stuck a needle in my arm.
It's the worlds fault I became a junkie?
Fuck all y'all that need a"SAFE PLACE."
We make our choices!
"The world" as in people lmao, her father was a prick he used her for money and gain. Her junkie boyfriend did her dirty, not to mention the media and other celebrities treated her like shit. Obviously we make our own choices but she was deeply troubled with both her psychical and mental health, she had bulimia and bpd and on top of that a bad support system and addiction to drugs and alcohol. So yeah people did do her dirty
Truly sad
@@mariemarie6291 wish she got rid of the negative influences.
"So we are history,

Amy Winehouse has the essence of the 70s, that's why she was unique in her time...
“Just be my own best friend”
Aw :(
GamerGirlyXX9 she was. She just couldn’t accept help. Because she thought Blake was going to help. But drugs helped sadly 😭😭♥️🙏🏻 r.i.p Amy rest well ♥️🙏🏻😭😭😭
*I should just be my own best friend.
Read the lyrics.
Heartbreaking.. so talented but unable to trust anyone . Blake and her father were the worst for screwing her over
@Pranker Callers No, she did not properly quote Amy Winehouse's words, and with the absence of "I should" there, the lyric is interpreted differently than Amy would have liked.
"He walks away. The sun goes down..." You know how much you have to love someone to say that?
W. Icey Yes!! Right!!
Unfortunately yeah
W. Icey I’ve thought about your comment- scary that someone has that impact- I’m afraid I wouldn’t know how to handle someone loving me that much. And I wouldn’t ever want to hurt someone like she was hurting.

After seeing Back To Black I just had to come here so I can remember again how she helped me forget my problems for five minutes. Thanks for the music Amy we miss you.
no matter how much time passes, this song will always be a masterpiece
the best lyrics ive ever heard in my life are from this song-masterpiece. "he walks away, the sun goes down, he takes the day but im grown, and in your way, in this blue shade, my tears dry on their own" and "so we are history, your shadow covers me, the sky above a blaze that only lovers see". my heart just melts.
“He takes the the day, but I am grown” is a line I often repeat to myself whenever I have been hurt or slighted so as to let it go.
hell the very first line is a knockout.
"all I can ever be to you is a darkness that we knew, and this regret I got accustomed to."
same over hear. This is the first song where I was completely blown away, only by the lyrics. And when I add her voice and the music then it is not from this world. I have no favorite song from her but this is the one for me with the best lyrics. Back To Black, Just Friends, Help Myself or I Heard Love Is Blind are all for me as good as Tears Dry On Their Own, but this has in my opinion the best lyrics of all and currently the best of all songs I have ever heard

De'lon Fox I read that just as she said it 🤯😂
😢
She was like a wounded sparrow, so frail and vulnerable before a ravenous world. So tragic she wasn't protected, even from herself.
Not really. She was a pretty tough & wise inner city Londoner actually. Her Addiction to drugs and alcohol got hold of her & that was that.
@@southwestkinema9149 She struggled with depression since she was a teen, had an eating disorder, alcohol and drug addiction, which are avenues wounded people take to escape realities they cannot face. Being brilliant is lonely, as is having depth. In my opinion, teenagers and young adults require just as much guidance and parenting as young children...if not more. She skyrocketed to fame before her brain was even fully developed, and had mental health issues which her fame exploited. 'Tough' people before healing, are traumatised people. Amy never got to heal.
This is ironic: In a way, for me, her life story and struggle kind of emulated Edith Piaf’s, aka Little Sparrow 😢
Soooo mf sad and truee
Her eyeliner, Her beehive, her tattoos, her dresses. Amy had so much style ❤

How this incredibly talented, intelligent and headstrong woman could fall apart in front of everyone's eyes still puzzles me. She saw it coming, the whole world saw it coming, and yet what can you do? But she left her mark on the music world for sure. That brutal honesty. She looked the beast right in the eye as it devoured her. RIP

Still waiting to hear someone even half as amazing/special as Amy was in the music industry today... I'll probably be waiting a long time.
I honestly think that Adele could be the next Amy. I can hear similarities in their voices (obviously I still think Amy is a legend that no one can really live up to) but I think Adele can get pretty close to that level.
+Brittany Smith Adele is probably about as close it comes today (definitely a fan of her's also), but I feel like even Adele's music is just missing something (I don't even know what, exactly), that Amy's had.
+Justin Reed Ya I definitely get what you mean. There's just something about Amy's music that's so special; I can't really pinpoint it.

She was on her own train track to disruction Blake and her dad just helped speed it up
get into a bad relationships and you can really understand this song
Khadijahg Gaskin soo true
Khadijahg Gaskin hell ive even done it deliberately just to feel what she felt when she wrote this...
And yet some of us would do anything not to have had those bad relationships.
Yea quite a sad tune for lovers, who weren't meant to be
yes.
Im gonna be 77 this month and i cant get enough of her talent and style. Wish id found her sooner. Shes amazing!!

Miss her so much 😢 such a light!!!
as an audio engineer, it really does not get better than this. i would have sold my soul to work with her.
Out of curiosity how did you become an audio engineer
@@kaira_4286guess we'll never know 😢
Thank you amy
You mind explaining why? I'm genuinely curious. I know nothing of audio engineering.
@@kaira_4286 undergrad degree in audio engineering from marshall UV
1:08 Amy saw SOMETHING FUNNY because she is about to BUST OUT LAUGHING there. lol 😅
It’s the punch line of her own lyric making her smirk
Ya but what did she see though lol. Wish i could have 3 seconds after that take they had some characters in this video.
We love her very much and miss her terrible playing her as we speak and l am 60 who can throw the first stone. Nah l dident think so no one out there is that innocent RIP girl rock heaven ❤️❤️❤️❤️
AMY WINEHOUSE is so missed. She left us way too soon, but her music and videos will always remain.
This is pure magic, her own words touched everyone. I still miss her. RIP
Angel who lived in wrong decade
She was truly a 60s girl!
CANT AGRRE MORE
Yeah...strapped in the wrong time zone💜
@@alyssagreen3246 I don't think the sexist 60's would have appreciated her! She very likely would have married somebody, become a housewife and the world would never have gotten to know her!
This was only one of her many lives..her spirit will continue💜...she was in pain Here this time around 😔
I saw Amy live in 2007 and will never forget it. Her voice was out of this world.
damn... you're so lucky!!!! I'd do anything to be you 😭😭😭
estou morto
Amo muito vc aonde estiver 💞
You're so lucky ❤️❤️❤️
All I can ever be to you is the darkness that we know... that's some deep lyrics. RIP AMY. She did the damn thing
Everything about this is so beautiful. Amy. Her beehive. Her voice. Her words. The town. The people. ❤
“I’ll be some next man’s other woman soon.” Amy was an amazing song writer.
She really was incredibly talented.
What's so great about that line? Cultural appropriation at its finest. She let herself down with that line.
Anna Hume do you even know what cultural appropriation is?
Yes I've been talking about it for over 35 years. I know where's she's from and when that song came out we all rolled our eyes.
Anna Hume cultural appropriation? Explain?
The fact that she's a legend in music with only 2 albums shows how much of an icon she was and always will be
As other people have commented below, this is my favorite Amy song. The voice was amazing, and we knew it then. But as I become more aware of the lyrics to her songs, you see a lot of pain there. It seems all of her songs were autobiographical. She had those demons and it's always funny how someone with so much talent at anything can see themselves as worthless. I wish she had better support from those around her. As you dive into her songs, and she the physical deterioration that went on as time went by, it just makes me sad that she's not around.
A true singular talent. We really lost a unique singer. There is no one out here quite like her.
She makes me feel something that i can't explain with this song. This is not just a song is pure poetry
Tis beautiful on a deep level
I grew up listening to Amy Winehouse. My father played her songs everyday when I was a little girl
me too x
Aw that’s beautiful 🥺💕
same man
Me too Rest In Peace
same🥺
She was captivating. I’m almost 63 and she always held my attention with her beauty and charm
ain't no river wide enough to keep me from getting to you babe!!!!
10 years without you , legend. You’re deeply missed.
💯 😭😭
yes! She sure is!
True 😥
True talent 😎
she lived a short life, but made a mark. im living on not achieving much
same here
Daisy Dd you are already greatness
She was here for only 27 years, was famous since 19, and left a mark on music history
The fact this song was released on an album in 2007 and sounds like it could've come out today, it's so good, just shows how much of a true legend Amy was. She will ALWAYS be unmatched! !
Im sorry but nothing like this could come out today 😂 no one today has any talent AT ALL 😮
@@brokegirl1452 That's an INCREDIBLY bold statement sir, if i must say. Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Adele, Lawrence, S G Goodman, Lemon Twigs, Vianney, Still Woozy, Sabrina Claudio, Conan Gray, Stephen Sanchez, Ruel, Olivia Rodrigo, Alicia Keys, Samara Joy, Esperanza Spalding, H.E.R, Daniel Caesar, Jacob Collier??. Do they not exist in ur mind lad ? And that's just to name a mere few. If you actually and genuinely think no-one today has any talent at all in the music industry, then perhaps you aren't listening to the right music and have zero taste. I would suggest giving a listen to some of the aforementioned artists i listed, but you're probably too ignorant to do so. I was just stating an opinion about Amy's music, nothing big. chill bro
