In early 1965, Brian Jones made a 14 year-old farm boy in Ohio fall in love with the sound of slide guitar, when I dropped the needle on "Little Red Rooster" from their U.S. album "The Rolling Stones, Now!" Forever grateful.
Thank you and he was the image of early British rock and blues a handsome young man that's for sure. He even have the girl that all the rock musicians wanted and Keith got her I think. Always have the best close the best guitars on stage. And he had the best year for blues.
Out of ALL of the music icons, my absolute favorite of all time is Brian Jones. Guitar, sitar, harpsichord, dulcimer, piano, classical harp, xylophone,... He could master any instrument it seems. The sad part is that he never had the opportunity to truly show the world his talent. True he had his demons, but all the great ones did, Van Gogh, Beethoven, Edgar Allan Poe,..... The world is a far emptier place without them, especially Brian. Rest in peace Brian, the world truly misses you good sir.

Never thought they did this live, what a nice surprise. Thank you. The Stones most definitely benefited from Brian's ears, imagination and knack with exotic instruments, but it was also the time when they were chasing the Beatles and it inspired a higher level of songwriting from Richards and Jagger. Once the Beatles and Brian were gone, the Stones morphed into a sort of a glorified roadside dive sort of band (with the exception of an occasional Richards ballad like "Angie") which still thrived with the addition of the brilliant blues guitarist Mick Taylor. After his exit they were noticeably lessened and thus hired a bunch of sidemen and women to pad the act and developed a high tech stage show and evolved or devolved, depending on your viewpoint, into the oldies arena act they remain today.
Music's most beautiful face 0:51 The golden stone :') Brian was the magic ingredient of The Stones. He gave them their best years. A musician that can play any instrument they pick up is a musician most bands dream of having. Gifted people are like shooting stars they leave us way too soon ... people should have treated him better when he was here. They did not appreciate the musical genius they had in Brian Jones. I like to think he's now chilling out somewhere playing guitar with his friends Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon 🎸
If Brian could have written a hit, I believe he would have not been sacked. He could play any instrument and his sense of style defined Swinging London. He had a lot of health and mental health issues, and the other Stones had no patience for it. It also doesn't help that he beat women, including Suki Potter and Anita Pallenberg.
Rock on Brian We loved you then /we love you now, Athena and I twirled the living room to you many a time, I cant wait to hold her and dance really slow again, it will be heavenly! Thank you from us both, She cannot say so but she and you must be talking about how you affected us!
sad news that Charlie pass away , he will be miss but the music will go on for ever long after i have gone , have seen the TRS a good few times over the years , but will all ways remember the one time at the old Wembley stadium ,at the end of the concert Mick and the boys got behind Charlie and push him to the front or the stage and said he was to old to get up :(
In just 7 years as Brian Jones was present they wrote 10 albums, it could be counted even more with differences from UK and US releases until 1967. For me also this period songs are best, most creative, soulful, original, amazingly diverse and much more, and those period are only albums that can be compared with the Beatles ! It is also their far most creative + productive period and this was their climax as band on all levels !
Agreed...the BJ era was by far my favorite...i don't concern myself with what was played on radio more...its what i play in my mind.. all that matters...
I agree with you up to.....compare with the Beatles, even though they were friends and playing on each others records in 67 and 68, the Beatles always outshined, out wrote and out performed the stones. this is coming from a man in his early sixties who used to buy the records when they were new and I insist the Beatles were the better band.
I also noticed that after Brian left, their style was completely different. Why don't they play these old songs? Do people really go to a Stones concert to hear "Start Me Up?"
Andrew i would agree, more versatile, more interesting, they seemed more of a group, after their music got predictable, blues infused rock, then a little country for a bit!
It's undeniable. While he was there, they were more artsy, more varied in their timbres and choice of material, were just more sexy and perfect for the swinging sixties and the flower power era. Brian Jones definitely left an imprint, not only musically but also on the look and style of the band. But that said I can't blame Jagger and Richards for firing him as by all accounts he'd lost it in the last few years. It's obvious in the Sympathy for the Devil documentary that he's a deadweight the group has to carry around (teaching him what basic chords to play), not someone you can rely on to perform on stage. Put yourself in Mick Jagger's shoes. Do you want to stand in front of tens of thousands of people with someone out of their mind on drugs backing you? At least Richards cared enough to perform when it was needed. Second period Stones was still excellent. Richards was wrote some of his best songs and Mick Taylor at his best is an incredible musician. Definitely a very different band though. Third period with Ron Wood has some good songs, but it's a bit of a frat house party band. For me the first and second incarnation of the Stones are quite equal. The first probably most undervalued as most people seem to prefer the Mick Taylor era.

Lady Jane was played live on the Stones "Got Live If You Want It." Great version there also.
Brian ,insuperable
Amazingggggggggg
The number one
Forever
Brasil
If there was no Brian Jones, there would never have been The Rolling Stones. Well, even if there was, they never would have made it without him.
The critics were quick to praise this lovely number and rightly so.
Brian was the musical genius of the Stones 💙🎶🎶🎵🎶 💜
TRUE WORDS!
THE ROLLING STONES IS THE GREATEST ROCK BAND ON EARTH.
GREETINGS FROM BULGARIA 🇧🇬
Never. Richard/Jagger is the Sound of Stones!!
BRIAN Jones, musique géniale, merci beaucoup BRIAN.
Sound quality is exceptional!
Thanks
The shinned Dulcimer! Brian was a genius ! R.ip Charlie and Brian!
Rock on Brian We loved you then /we love you now, Athena and I twirled the living room to you many a time, I cant wait to hold her and dance really slow again, it will be heavenly! Thank you from us both, She cannot say so but she and you must be talking about how you affected us!
Joanie Jett 71 so sweet, RIP both
sad news that Charlie pass away , he will be miss but the music will go on for ever long after i have gone , have seen the TRS a good few times over the years , but will all ways remember the one time at the old Wembley stadium ,at the end of the concert Mick and the boys got behind Charlie and push him to the front or the stage and said he was to old to get up :(
In just 7 years as Brian Jones was present they wrote 10 albums, it could be counted even more with differences from UK and US releases until 1967. For me also this period songs are best, most creative, soulful, original, amazingly diverse and much more, and those period are only albums that can be compared with the Beatles ! It is also their far most creative + productive period and this was their climax as band on all levels !
Umm.... maybe. For recording. But the Mick Taylor years is when they became the greatest RNR band in the world.
Agreed...the BJ era was by far my favorite...i don't concern myself with what was played on radio more...its what i play in my mind.. all that matters...
I agree with you up to.....compare with the Beatles, even though they were friends and playing on each others records in 67 and 68, the Beatles always outshined, out wrote and out performed the stones. this is coming from a man in his early sixties who used to buy the records when they were new and I insist the Beatles were the better band.
blog.ladyruth.es/brian-jones-like-rolling-stone/
yes i fact
One of my fave songs. Jones super talented RIP
The "Jones Stones." The real Stones.
For me , the Stones before and after Brian are 2 DIFFERENT bands ... I think I prefer the original Stones ...
Same here!
Sam Spade Agreed! How many times can you listen to Start Me Up? Give me this song and Backstreet Girl, classy and SO English! 🎶
Que temon que delicia que instrumentista brian que fenomeno..gracias brian eternamente vas a vivir en mi memoria
